Hey ya'll, good thread.

I moved to Seoul from Vancouver about a month ago. My gf is from here and we've decided to live here for at least a year after having lived in Vancouver for 5 years. It's definitely a completely different world out here, but having my Korean gf with me makes everything about a million times easier. I've registered with Yonsei's KLI program for 2 terms (6 months) which starts at the end of June, so until that time we're traveling around Korea a bit.

Been meaning to go check out Walker Hill's poker room during a weekend to see what it's like and play a bit of 1/2. The insane rake is not ideal, but I'm not here to be a full-time pro anyways.

If anyone has any questions about Seoul or Korea in general just ask here or PM me

welcome to Korea buddy! like its been said before I'm sure, weekends are the best time for Walker Hill. Good tourneys every saturday and generally soft games after the tourney. rake sucks, but if your looking for just some fun now and again Walker Hill is your place.

quick question for ya BearJew. i know its vegas not seoul related but curious to your opinion of which games in vegas will have the best game for 2/5 and 5/10? Think Rio is the best bet cause of the traffic(WSOP) or the usual Aria, Bellagio and Venetian be the best? Your location has vegas so im assuming you will know Vegas as a whole better than me...thanks bro

from my experience 2-5 seems to be about the same at Venetian/Wynn/bellagio/aria, it's more about how big/deep you want these games to play. the max buying are - Venetian 1k/Wynn1.5k/aria 1k/bellagio 500. I personally enjoy playing at the Wynn because it plays deeper and there's something unique about Wynn fish who can afford to pay 500+ a night to stay there. usually a bit smarter but still novice card players and have deeper pockets in general. Venetian is good for game selection, so is bellagio but the game is much shorter. aria has pretty good action as well. 5-10 wise, the Wynn games are probably the toughest in town, while bellagio/aria is probably the softest. Wynn/Venetian are uncapped fwiw. I've played quite a bit at the rio last year and thought there were tons of grinders and nits, wasn't too fond of the action, although I only really played nights. I honestly think Wynn, +++++ guarantee the hottest waitresses in town haha. feel free to pm me for my Skype

Is it really necessary to take the shuttle to get to and from Walker Hill, and is this the only casino that has poker? Also do the bigger games ever run?

They comp taxi ride up to 10,000 won if u play cash game so get a receipt. Then just take the shuttle to the subway to get home. Shuttle runs every ten min.

standard poker player attitude, calls a $200 river bet no prob but doesn't want to spend $5 on a taxi.

Nice thread. I didn't realize there was so much content / interest about Seoul on 2+2.

I've lived here on and off for the last 10 years and speak the language pretty well. I've spent most of my time in Gangnam which is by far my most favorite area in the City (and probably the world) but I have also been known to make the occasional night time excursion to other areas like hongdae and itaewon as well.

I play online for a living and have donked off a lot of my winnings at various drinking establishments around this city. Indeed my degenerate spending habits have afforded me a lot of interesting experiences and the particular set of knowledge that follows from a man who has experienced the path of night.

If you have any questions I'd be happy to answer here or via PM

We're two 22 years old western European guys going to South Korea next week. We will spend a few days in Seoul and are wondering what would be the best way to hook up with Korean girls. (without paying obv)

We both only know very basic words like thanks, you're welcome, may I have xxx and thus can't have a real conversation in Korean.

Just go to a bar in Itaewon or something? Not the best area but it's where all the foreigners are.

Picking up Korean girls isn't easy because in general they're pretty reserved and shy.

Thanks for your answer.

I've met some korean girls in my school and they were super shy. I was hoping they were an exception

I should go to where the foreigners are because this is where the korean girls that like foreigners go. Do I understand this right please ?

That's what I was getting at yeah

Maybe someone else can chime in that has actually tried picking up Korean girls. I have a Korean gf, but we met in Vancouver so I'm not completely in tune with the whole picking up girls thing here in Korea.

I would love to move to Japan or S. Korea. I love asians! Im sure this has been asked, but this is a huge thread, how easy is it to get around without speaking the language? Do most younger people speak english fairly good? Thanks for answering this question again Im sure.

Not sure about S.K., but I heard it's not that hard in most large Japanese cities.

If you cannot speak Korean and don't have a Korean friend to help you a lot with translation / etc. then Itaewon is your best option. I will give you directions of where to go: next to Hamilton hotel in itaewon there is a KFC, walk past the KFC and take a right into the first alley. In this alley and the following side streets there is 5-10 lounge / clubs you can find girls at. Your assumption was correct, the girls going here know there will be a lot of foreigners so they also usually like foreigner guys.

If you want to see the hottest girls in the city, go to club Octagon in Yeoksam Dong, Gangnam. You won't find many girls that can speak english but it's still worth the trip especially if you like clubbing. The DJs there are also usually really good.

Korean girls are generally pretty reserved and you definitely need to do most of the work, you will have to approach them, talk to them first, and lead the action. If they like you they will follow you.

The general population doesn't speak more than a few words of english. There are areas that you can go to where there will be higher numbers of english speakers like itaewon or hongdae but if you're serious about moving to japan or korea you should take language classes immediately upon arrival and study as much as u can.
