2. I've heard there is a place (I think called the Seoul International Center - though no info on google) that teaches foreigners Hangul. Ever heard of it?
Thank you in advance.
Hmmm... I'm going to make a few assumptions here. 1. Single. 2. Officer.
That said, I don't think I'd choose Chungmuro over an area across the river, especially if you can find and afford a place in soraemal since that sounds much more like what you want. However, Insadong is nice, and it always seemed to me like much more of a Korean hang out than a foreigner one. Getting a place close to Insadong could be great, but I'd check out Soraemal and see if you can afford a place there. Super easy to get to post too. Just hop across the Banpo bridge and you're there.
But having spent two years there I'd still recommend staying at the Xii building next to Samgakji station. Being close to work has some serious advantages. And your access to the blue line (literally out the front door) will keep you close to anything. So that might be worth checking out too. You can also walk to Yongsan station/Ipark super easy. Access to that awesome movie theater is key. lol.
