Just seen this:

Las Vegas Sands bets $10,000,000,000 on Korea
US gaming operator plans to build $10 bil. casino resort

From the article:

Referring to the Singapore case, the CEO said that appropriate regulations can control negative side effects from a casino.

"We are proposing not an open, but a restricted-entry casino where locals have to pay levies and be subject to restrictions ― if they are financially at risk ― to enter the casino which will occupy less than 5 percent of the total integrated resort area," he said.

He explained that it is important that there be strict entry barriers into the casino and that the Singapore model has proven that with appropriate entry barriers, the potential negative effects on society can be avoided.

"Thus, we believe that any law permitting Korean citizens to enter casinos in Korea should include provisions that prevent entry to those who should not be entering the casino," he said.

I'm headed to WH later for the Baccarat Trny. Seriously, we should start our own Baccarat Team to go up against the Mongolians every Tuesday, lol.

Even going up against a "team" of players, its still great value,. WH gives you a freebet coupon which is half the amount of the buyin, and most importantly WH doubles the prize money, which makes for a great overlay.

Then taking the winnings to make my donation to the poker regs. lol.

Are you a baccarat expert???????

I think I'd prefer to watch some grass grow, myself.

Baccarat reminds me of this WH reg. This reg came to WH drunk and stacked off a mil. Then, he went to play baccarat with his remaining 400,000ish? and somehow won like 7 mil if i remember correctly.

The tourney on Tuesdays at 2pm (you can sign up the same day), have a buyin of usually 300k (I've seen it 100k previously though). The value comes from WH not only giving a freebet coupon for registering, but from doubling the prize money. Ex. 20 players, prize pool is 12mil. Top 4 with the most chips at the end of 12 rounds/hands get paid, 50%/25%/15%/10%. You compete against ALL the players on ALL the tables. Start with 3k in T$ chips, max bet is 2k on player or banker, tie 200. In the later rounds they will show you the amount of chips the top 5 have.

The tourney on Thursdays at 2pm are "free", but its limited to 56 players. 48 players make the list by having the top 48 mileage points for the week amongst the players who have signed up (must sign up between Sunday and Wednesday). I've made the list with under 30k in points for the week, so its usually not hard to make the list, plus a lot of people who make the list don't show up for the trny. The 8 remaining seats, plus the no shows from the list of 48 are chosen by random drawing of tickets out of a box.

Each of the 8 tables has 2 winners, 1st gets 700k and 2nd gets 400k. You compete against your own table only. You get 2K in T$ chips, Max bet is 1k on Player/Banker, 100 on tie. It consists of 15 rounds/hands, a button goes around the table to show who bets first each round.

These two events are the two best bets in the casino. A close second is black card holders who get a 10% rebate for "losses" during the week, by using ratholing techniques, lol.

In the game itself, there is no such thing, even with the lower house edge. But with Baccarat tournaments, you don't even have to be a tourney expert (I'm definitely not one), as some players, just choose and bet amounts at random, which is wrong to do, especially in the later rounds. To win these tournaments, winning by 1 chip is just as good as winning by 10000, but yet I see people betting max every round, even with the chip lead, lol. I'm not saying cashing is easy, but having a better understanding of trny play is huge.

Just to show you, in last Thursday's free tourney, with 5 players left in the final 15th hand, I was 4th in chips and had to bet first. I bet 1k on Player and literally stand up from the table cause I know I'm not going to win, but unbelievably EVERYONE else bet Banker. Player wins and I bink the 700k kw. If any one of them had a clue and just did the math they would of known I couldn't catch them if they just bet the same as me. The chip leaders were clueless, and I was happy for that.

I've cashed the last 2 times I've played the Thursday trny. Got 2nd place 3 weeks ago for 400k. Wish me luck tomorrow! Its definitely more fun than watching grass grow, lol.

Playing the other night, a player with maybe ~300k in front of him, was playing 300k-500k a hand in baccarat in between hands (baccarat table directly behind his seat) I'm thinking, he's playing huge at baccarat, but won't call my 6,000 won open raise, lol.

I forgot to add that in both tourneys, you earn points which go towards their finals. (Separate finals for both the Tuesday buyintrny and the Thursday free one) Those making it play for free and compete for much larger prizes.

still debating
im not sure if i should trust the poker room handling prize money well given the history but its really tempting to play the event 7/9 at the same time

also did you book the rooms yet? there are plenty of motels you can stay for less than 50/night within 5 minutes of walking distance

No I haven't. I don't remember too many motels nearby when I would cab from dongdaegu bus terminal. I tried to look online but couldn't find any.

I'll head there before the tournament and wander the streets till I find one I like. Can't imagine you'd have a suggestion?

So APT Daegu is pretty meh. The 660 headhunter only got like 41 entrants including re entries. Level of play was obviously ****ty as i think everyone here couldnt be profitable in the big 2.20. Anyways it feels very underwhelming. Theres 9 tables for an entire poker series lol. Like what the ****. Anyways i doubt the main goes 4 days itll probably end on day 2 or day3.

Uh lastly it seems to be ran fairly well. Cant complain too much about that. I guess montreal has just spoiled me and set my expectations too high. I expect the plo tomorrow to be an absolute ****show.

haha i want to hear reports on the plo tourney. Is there any plo cash?

Where are most of the players in the tourney from?

If I'm reading correctly, you're unhappy because while the fish are ****ty, there are far too few people playing the tournament, making for too small of a prize pool ?

Why the **** is there a tournament in Daegu?

So far, numbers don't look impressive. Only had 13 entries in the 1.1mil PLO High Roller.

Yah plo highroller was wild from what i heard. Talked with the guy who won, a nice bloke from stralia. He said when they got to 2 left they didnt want to play each other. They were stuck in a weird spot. It was two left but late registration was still open. So if one person got ko'd someone could still enter and just get 2nd. Also if like 2 or 3 more people entered then it paid top3. Was an awkward situation.

Japanese, the usual 8-10 regs who sit at the 1/2 table every day of their lives, leaderboard chasers for apt, and thats about it. Its just a bunch of ****ty regs. Which i mean is whatever im better than them but its not what i hoped.

Said above where they all seem to be above. Im upset because i expected bigger prizepools. I expected the allure that comes with a "big" tournament series. APT guys run a good tourny. But having a tournament like this is such a mistake. Every apt reg i talk to says the event sucks and the pokerroom/staff is ****ty (regular daegu ppl not apt ppl). Apt even has their own dealers for the event lol. Like it blows my mind that a major poker series has only 9 tables set up. 9.
