Just fyi as I always see locals playing without a players card:

Walker Hill players should use their players card every visit to take advantage of mileage points AND the stamp (attendance) program. I wish 7 luck also had this stamp program.

Nice try though.
When did WH start accepting PS / Skrill for KRW?

I'm leaving in 2 days to come to Seoul and still trying to figure out the best way to exchange my money. My other thought would be to transfer dollars to friend who has a Stars account and then do a swap with someone once I get there through my friends account since people in this thread seem to want Stars $$. Any thoughts?
If you bring USD to Korea you can exchange at <1% commission if you go to myeong dong or itaewon money changers. Haven't been for a while so can't tell you specifically which one but if you shop around at a bunch of different money changers you'll eventually get <1% commission.

hey it's a casino i like to have a little fun and gamble when i play 1/2

did people bring up me jamming a pair+flushdraw for 1.3k on the flop against some adjeossi who had raised me all but a 1mill won chip at 2/5 deep with straddle on? i heard about that super standard hand for a month every time i sat down as proof of my psychopathy...i wonder if my legend continued after i left...or if another loose player has ever shown up or a LAG is same as 귀신 there.

Just to be clear banks charge ~2% commission and PS itself charges ~3% on USD -> KRW (see edgelooker's breakdown 1 page back)

Or see KEB's exchange rates- http://fx.keb.co.kr/FER1101C.web?
"Exchange Commission" for KRW <-> USD currently at 2.02%

that scam though?

-

really though my offer is just about convenience, I know that people run out of KRW cause they run bad at the tables, underestimated their expenses, or didn't plan ahead very well(standard lazy poker player I've done it 100x over the years) and will be happy to get instant KRW paying the same commission they'd pay a bank anyways

Yes, go to any KT store and bring your passport. $20/month for calls-messages-2Gb data. You ll have to pay for the sim card too but I dont remember how much it is.

Finally, a local reg makes one of the Pokernews APPT updates:

The River Keeps Holbrook Alive
Posted 39 minutes ago Happy_Freaked • Level 7: 400-800, 100 ante

Yaxi Zhu just raised to 2,000 and Jeffrey Holbrook moved all in for 17,000. Yang Zhang was seated in the small blind and he moved all in as well after which Zhu folded her cards.

Holbrook, who finished 10th in this event last year, showed {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} and he was up against Zhang's {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs}.

The flop brought {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{Q-Spades} and Zhang took the lead, and the turn, the {9-Diamonds}, kept Holbrook's hopes alive. On the river the {J-Spades} hit and Holbrook made his straight.

Jeffrey Holbrook US 36,000 36,000
Yang Zhang CN 21,000 -17,000

13 headed to Sunday's Day3:

Tyler Jennens (WH reg ???) 4th in chips 414k
Donger Kim 6th in chips 314k

2 Pokerstars Team Pros still in it:
Celina Lin 540k
Bryan Huang 309k

How come Team Pokerstars Pro Vivian Im doesn't play this event? If its a "only foreigners can play at Walker Hill" issue, then she really deserves some kind of waiver from the government for APPT events.

Question from the sidelines:

When you guys transfer monies from abroad, to your Korean account, do you use a Foreign Currency acc or will it do with a Won account and you just pay a conversion rate?

Am trying to deposit some Euros and so far, it says "transaction approved" on the other side, but I've done this before in other countries and sometimes you need a currency acc.

What's going on at Walker Hill? Are they running any tournaments these days? Been almost a month since they updated their schedule and they are not answering on FB.
