Korean-American with Bad engRIsh over here.
Done a couple of Euros a same thing. Didn't charge them anything except for a pint of beer at a bar.
A key issue with Foreigners settling in Korea is them not understanding the concept of "Key Money". In case you don't know what key money is, look it up on google. But to save your time, I will just post the definition here.
Key Money : money paid to a landlord as an inducement by a person wishing to rent a property.
When you look for a rental, the system works like (Key Money)/(Monthly Rent)
So, when you look at a ad like this : 1000/50, it's like 10000 USD for key money and 500 bucks per month. You get key money back at the end of lease. There's no bull**** like "oh im going to take some money off your key money for wallpainting and ****." You get what you gave.
Long Story Short, If you wish to rent a 69.72m^2 property, the going price at my area is 1000/65. I just signed a new lease at one of the three new high-rise officetel properties at My area.
Pretty decent. 3 min walk to Shin-Bungdang line (16 min to Gangnam).. 2nd best area for mongering? (My area is filled with headquarters of Korean IT conglomerates)
That's all.
