This question was asked in an expats Facebook group recently and according to several people the law was changed recently and you MUST have an Alien Registration Card to open a bank account.

Confirmed for both KEB and Woori, but like with everything else in Korean banking, maybe it depends greatly on the person you first talk to at the bank.

Is this for real? Has anyone been yet? How was it?

It's good. It's only be open for 2 weeks but there has been a game every night. Often hasn't been getting started until 10pm or so but games have run until 4 or 6am. A few Korean Ameeicsn regs who seem to know the manager from playing at Walker Hill, bunch of English teacher home game regs and then some random walk-ins. Had a few whales walk in and spew off a lot and the reggy guys aren't great and give heaps of action. Last Thursday for example I don't think there were any huge fish at the table but somehow we started at 10pm and had around 5mil on the table by 1am.

Management is really good and really responsive to players, dealers are fine. Drinks are free and unlimited and have a fairly wide selection. Buddy was getting beers two at a time and pounding them all night. So far I'm really impressed, love playing there and am really excited for the room to grow.

They haven't really started marketing yet so hopefully the next few months will see more players, earlier starts etc. they're also planning to introduce weekly tournament from July. Definitely worth checking out.

Take is 10% capped at $15 (dealers haven't stolen any rake yet haha)
5 handed the cap has been reduced to $7

They've also let us play a Hold'em/Omaha mix when everyone wanted it too, allowed us to run it twice, chop AK vs AK pre without running a board etc etc. Basicslly treating players like both customers and humans.

I am at Macau right now and I am trying to book a flight to Korea and wondering where is the best poker room was.

I was planning trip to Jeju but did not know there was poker room in Busan.

My prorities are:

1. Deep stack fishes ( less regulars and more tourists,in other words softer game

As you have described, games in Walker Hill Seoul was very tight and regular heavy. So I thought about going to JeJu. Ive been to Daegu but there isnt much of game. So now my choices are

jeju
Incheon (that new paradise city place?)
Busan.

Maybe I will start with Jeju and travel to Busan and Daegu and end up in Incheon for couple days then fly out...


But I havent seen any post about Jeju poker rooms. How are they?

Jeju doesn't have any game running unless there's WPT running.

Haeundae. Passport or maybe just ARC, im not sure. I took both the first time and got a players card made and now I just use that.

I'd probably avoid the Daegu game, but if you do play perhaps start with the Sunday 2pm cheap 50k tourney and play live after that..that's when the most action usually is, plus the first 5 or 6 tourney winners are paid in "must play for 3 hours chips" and they often are pretty bad...it's a total crapshoot short-stack tourney with blinds doubling every 10 minutes, so anyone can win that...everyone is short stacked within the first 40 minutes or so (yes, it is ******ed but that's how they get people in there...)

Friday and Saturday nights of course get action, but be ready to re-buy a few times because it is a donk-fest with lots of shoving.

All things considered, though, Daegu Casino is a really ****ty place to play poker. There are some real fish though...

On a positive note, I will say that it is usually pretty friendly...you won't understand the 5 or 6 languages being spoken (often during hands!! joy of joys!!!) but people are usually having fun and smiling, at least. Some of the Walker Hill regs are just straight c__ks__ckers.

I mean from my personal opinion from my time in Korea, the Daegu Regs were just a bunch of **** regs who ratholed, talked trash to recreationals, or were just nits. It wasn't a fun game. Got the APT that ran during 2016 was so awful. I gave the casino plenty of chances. The only thing it has going for it is there is literally nowhere else to play.

To anyone visiting Korea and hoping to hit up all the casinos, just stick to Seoul. Visit the rest of the country, but skip non-Seoul casinos for poker.
