this one is more directed for US people, it is a 5 year visa for 180 days with multiple entries, plan is to go to florianopolis for 2 weeks, then backpack Argentina/uruguay, then back to rio for carnaval, then backpack like chile, peru, paraguay, bolivia, etc, then maybe back

Will be living in Buenos Aires for 5 months and want to visit Brazil at some point during this time. I understand that a tourist visa is necessary (for US citizens) before arrival. Only question is: Unsure of travel dates to Brazil during these 5 months and it seems that an itinerary/proof of purchase of tix to Brazil are necessary beforehand in order to get this tourist visa. Is there any way around this. Planning on visiting the Brazilian Embassy in NYC in about a week or two to get this. Any ideas?

moved out of floripa, in porto alegre now

floripa is a beach scene, I wanted to site see and party some though, which you could do but covers are expensive (not an issue, just a point), however it's virtually impossible to communicate as almost no one there spoke a lick of English. The nightlife in Jurere up north is definitely better. I picked up a little bit of Portuguese, but not enough. I've enjoyed the city vibe of Porto Alegre more so far. Anyhow, just sharing my two cents, I'm sure others have been to these places and instantly ran hot to find people that spoke English and could help. Uruguay tomorrow so brushing up on Spanish now.

Hey 40s, great thread so far and has def made me want to visit rio/ brazil.

the only information i have is about a club in a near (and very nice) city, named Balneario Camboriu...
the name of the club is BC Club.. but ive never been there.. dont even know what the games.. stakes etc.. they play

hey, the covers in Jurere for the better clubs were about $50 to 100 USD, they are pretty good, and I´d go a few times, probably don´t need to go out too often there though

in my opinion, Rio is way better than Salvador.. girls are better.. beaches are better... and i dont know where u stayed in Salvador.. but the traffic there is horrible..

both ipanema and leblon are very nice, and the best places in Rio to stay..
