If your Euro and only staying for two months then you don't really have to worry about anything. Also in your price range, you shouldn't have to worry too much about the quality of the place, i.e. mold etc.

Hey guys,

moving to Lisbon in July, just curious about the legislation. I heard that it is to be changed in the near future. How quick could it be, what do you think? I hope legislation is slow and at least I can grind the summer properly

In any case, it would also depend on how long you are staying as well, in order to even be liable to pay taxes though the general consensus is as crispoker10 stated.

edit: It's more than 182 days during a calendar year: http://www.justlanded.com/english/Po...-Tax-Liability and can become relevant if you have non poker income as well.

Yes, Madeira laws regarding most matters and online gambling as well are the same as mainland.

And yes again, its all "on hold".

Hey guys,
I read the whole thread and all in all I see that everyone is enjoying Portugal, I am very happy for that, since it's a beautiful country with very nice people and very affordable for EU citizens. I am posting here, because me and two friends are coming to Lisbon from 10.7.-8.8. and will stay just by the Assembleia Republica in an appartment. We are mostly online and live Mtt & Plo players and would be interested in meeting some of you 2p2 guys living there, so if anyone is up to it, please write to me.
I have lived in Lisbon for 5 months in 2009 when I did my Erazmus over there, it was one of the best times of my life, where I met so many people from different cultures, so that was really amasing to me. I started to travel even more after this 5month adventure. Now I am coming back! So basically I know pretty good how to get around the city, where to party, eat really good food for low prices and what to visit around Lisbon, since 30 min around it, you have so many things to see and do. I have seen about 80% of Portugal, didn't see a few surf sites and the belt from Albufeira to the east with Faro, we will have to see it this time around, hopefully for a few days trip around there...
So, if anyone is up to meeting three good poker players from one of the smallest but nicest countries, Slovenia, please contact me. I can't wait to be there again, it's just such a beautiful city and not to hectic like Barcelona for example, there are toooo many tourists and hustlers everywhere.

I'm in the Azores right now. They are nice.

Sailing over to Lagos (southwest tip of Portugal) in a few days or a week. Will stay there about a week, then sailing on to France.

Picked up a Vodafone SIM for 10 euros on Faial and added 10 euros to it, then got the Yorn W 2GB data plan add on. They charge 4.25 euro per week, and you get 2GB per month. No clue why they don't just charge the full month - maybe the monthly period is a rolling 30 days? I can't read Portuguese so I don't really understand how the plan works or what happens if I go over 2GB in under 30 days. Not sure if it's better to either pay some pro-rated rate after that or just toss the SIM and buy another one, or if that's even possible due to Vodafone somehow tracking which phones have used their service.

Looking forward to spending some more time in the Azores before heading on to Lagos. It is beautiful here and the Portuguese are wonderful people. Or am I supposed to call them Azoreans if they live here in the Azores? I've seen that term in a few places. Regardless, very friendly people.

News regarding poker regulation in Portugal:

http://www.pokernews.com/news/2014/0...y-10-18512.htm

I don't like this part:

"According to Econòmico, the text that will be presented to the Parliament in July could create a system similar to the ones already in place in other European countries like Spain, Italy and France – where a state-controlled gambling authority is in charge to issue gambling licenses to operators interested in offering online games within the country, and are able to fulfill all the requirements set by the law. great to ear you are loving it.

as for vodafone, just call them, explain them your situation and ask them for council.

their service is pretty good and they speak english.

as for people living in Açores they are obviously Portuguese but most people (including them) refers to them as "açoreanos".

they refer to us (living in the mainland) as "continentais", but this is more like a trivia fact, because regardless on how you call them (açoreanos or portugueses) you are right and you will always be understood.

ok, so it seems that regulation will be a reality untill the end of this year.

Government anounced today (see point 2 and let me stress to you all that this is coming right from online Portuguese Government site and its the ONLY official statement about willing to regulate and the rough moldes of it.

A lot of information is still missing for some can elaborate it more, but the little that has came out of it is positive.

that quote Isaac, is pure speculation.

* in case you miss it, point 2 is a link.
