kerwinty,

I'm surprised you find the girls in Ecuador so attractive. Everyone else I've met who has been there says they're pretty ugly overall. Do you have a special thing for the Indian/mestizo look that seems to be common there? Or maybe the girls are just more open/friendly so it doesn't matter that they're not all that attractive? That chick you posted yesterday for instance looks to be close to 40 years old, with a weird face and a bad boob job.

Girls from colombia are way hotter imo, but yes I like latinas. Gye prob has the best of the 3 cities- gye, quito and cuenca but ppl say the best women in the country are in Manabi. Personally, I am not attracted at all to chicks you'd meet in places like thailand or vietnam but that is just me. And yes, their openess makes them more attractive, sexy etc. The chick on the far left in the pic with 4 girls might be the best looking female I've seen in any country, she is a pretty well known model here.

This hostelhttp://hostelbookers.com/hostels/ecu...ayaquil/95953/ has underground parking next door. Last year they let me park my moto there for just a $1 tip to the guards.

Do you have a car with Peruvian plates and al the documents in your name? I heard some foreigeners have some problems (i.e. need to bribe) upon leaving Peru in a Peruvian registered car/bike. I didn' t have any problems with my Chilean plates, also don' t think you need Soat for Ecuador.

How hard/easy is it to set up a bank account in Ecuador?

Hey, internet has been surprising good, at least for cash games on pokerstars and ipoker all over. Havent been to mompiche though. Getting a 3G card is very easy and doable. Not many live games since the casinos shut, but they aren't super hard to find in private houses in gye for instance. Another American grinder I met recently plays in a friendly low buy in game once a week and though he has been kind enough to invite me the last few weeks, I had other **** going on so still haven't been able to check it out yet.

Hey Bryan,
didn't see you had replied. Ereck leaving shortly as he mostly broke even over his year here and used his expense budget to live. He came close to some really big scores but nothing developed but haven't talked to him much. Moved in with a buddy from scotland and its pretty cool, pool in good area, we have lots of parties. Parking won't be a problem if you can get your car over the border. We actually have a spot in our condo we don't use so you could always park there free in urdesa. Ha just looked up a few posts and saw I responded, must of been a drunk weekend. ( girl situation is pretty solid atm. )

Setting up a bank account depends. Things change all the time but it is certainly doable. The drawbacks are you can't use your card to deposit online, but once you have moneybookers linked you can withdrawl easily and quickly. I use banco bolivariano.

Getting ready to make a move up to Salinas in about a month, pretty stoked at the idea of living on a beach again

How is shopping and banking in Salinas (if anyone knows)? I'm wondering if I can set up a bank account there or if I'll need to do that in GYE.

Also I'll be wanting to buy a new TV... gotta be one of the new "true hd" ones that are 1080p. Think I can buy one of those in Salinas or going to have to bring that from GYE too (assuming they are available there.... they should be right?!)

Can anyone recommend a forum for ecuador expats? I keep trying the sites that google is showing but they have almost no activity at all. Seems weird since I though ecuador was supposed to be packed full of retirees and stuff.

sterling - the tiny city I lived in had plenty of stores with HD TVs and such, salinas 100% has things like that. I'm loosely considering Salinas for a bit as well - if you hear about any nice condo's within 5 minute walk to perfect waves keep me updated. Such a mission! gl out there

oyeee guevon! nunca estas en skype, pero me voy pa alla manana. todavia estas en gye, sambo no? busco por hospedaje con cochera si alguien conoce alguno, me avisa porfaaa! haha let's accidentally help rob your neighbor's house, get drunk, but SKIP the part where I get ****in robbed by the taxi driver later the same night

for some reason missed peterje's response earlier as well. yea, any hotel has a cochera across the street or whatever...just that my entire life is in my car and I'd rather trust it directly to the hotel where they can be held accountable rather than their friends across the street or whatever, who see my surfboard, appliances, clothes, skateboard, other random stuff and figure "hey...I'm down to lose this job for a couple thousand dollars worth of gringo stuff". Yea, all my papers are in line, I think. Peruvian plates and I have SOAT, revision tecnica, tarjeta de registrado or whatever... I THINK everything I need. Guess I'll find out soon! If a bribe is all it takes I'm fine with that as well, but will obv hold out until the last second and demand they take me to talk with the police chief first. That usually scares em into saying "okkkk gringo, **** it just go ahead". I'll be getting SOAT in ecuador anyways, doubt it costs more than $100

It's a 3 month tourist visa when you show up. I've been on a student visa after that for about 10 months now. Max 2 years. I pay $600 a semester for 80 hours of 1 on 1 tutoring and the owner of the school is a lawyer who prepares all your visa stuff. Pretty solid deal. I never tried the cultural extension, I may after my student visa is done.

Honduras may have serious problems but ugly women ain't one of 'em.

The most beautiful girl I've ever known is Bolivian.

Peru, can't argue with that one.

No visa runs in Ecuador, last time I checked. Visa runs were possible until around 2011/2012, so there's still some outdated info on the internet. But now it's 90 days per year (the year starts when you arrive, not New Year's) unless you get a work, school or some other visa, which will give you at least six months.

A lot of countries have official limits on how many days you can stay per year, 180 per year is common, but don't enforce them, Arg and Peru for example, where you can do border runs forever, or pay reasonable late fees. Apparently Ecuador strictly enforces the 90 per year rule, and the late fees are enormous.

Do you get an Ecuadorean photo ID with your student visa?

how's the internet for grinding in montanita/canoa peeps?

canoa/montanita very, very far away from each other fwiw. I lived in a bigger city close-ish to montanita - playas. internet drove me absolutely insane - had techs out multiple times and backup 3g card would be pretty temperamental. I've heard montanita's infrastructure is way, way, way worse. Canoa was awesome, only stayed for a week and grinded a bit - I'd say a bit better internet there. keep in mind these are both pretty damn rustic beach cities, I'd hear many reports of ATMs running out of money on weekends (in montanita), electricity going out, etc. This was 2 years ago, so things could have improved I guess. good surf though, great cheap seafood

Aight thanks mate. I'll make some research but as of now Canoa sounds more attractive. I want a laidback beach town with the possibilty to party and surf aswell. I see Montanita got a huge party scene but it seems a bit too crowded if I wanna live there for several months. Canoa is more chill and less crowded right?

Also, to find long term accommodation (6 months maybe), better to ask real estate agents when I'm there or is there some website for this?
