Don't have any idea about the internet in Montanita unfortunately. Stayed in a really nice hotel about a 20 minute beach walk from the mid-town party madness and never spent a minute on the internet. Legit awesome beach though.

I have a question for you guys grindin on PokerStars in Ecuador. I've been here in Cuenca for about 6 weeks. Opened a bank account with Bank Bolivariano, and all of my attempts to deposit to either Neteller or Skrill have been declined. I've tried searching for UKash locations, also having no success. How are you guys getting money to the sites?

I use Banco bolivariano as well. I had to do a wire transfer with the bank to skrill when i first arrived. I have only made one deposit though since being here. The card they give foreigners is not a credit card and can't be used online. So depositing with wire is probably easiest way unless you know someone who can do a transfer with you (them to stars, you to them from foreign bank which might be possible via 2plus2. Getting money off is easy once your skrill account is linked to Banco Bolivariano though.

Not many english speaking realitors around. So the beach was a complete **** show this weekend. Couldn't find a room on sunday or monday and I've never seen a place (montanita) so crowded in my whole life, It felt like mardi gras in New Orleans times 10. A ex of mine and I drove up and down the coast for 7 hours looking for any place that was available with no luck. If I were to go to the beach for an extended period, it would def be salinas with short, cheap $1 bus rides trips to Montana and Olon. Was very happy to get back to Guayaquil and party with friends on Monday and Tuesday here. Will try to post some pics.

Yea I'm not sure what the deal is. I tried sending a bank wire to neteller, but it was a no go.

Regarding Carnaval, we also had a blast. I didn't even know about it until around Thursday. My roommate and I twice were pegged by water balloons. Finally after speaking with some locals they informed us that it's just Carnaval. Everyone is going to get water ballooned, foamed, and possibly even egged or floured. They invited us to join them to attend a party in Limon.

First stop was in Gualaceo. There was a parade, and of course everyone is getting foamed. You gotta keep an eye out for the residents that live on the 2nd or 3rd stories. They're dropping buckets of water, balloons, spraying water hoses, it gets pretty crazy. Then we headed to Limon for a wild night of drinking, dancing to Cumbia music, and dumping friends and strangers into a spring fed pool. Good times.

I was in cuenca and gualaceo doing same thing last year at this time gcone. Its cold there and the water was a pain in the ass but fun. Same thing went on at beach all weekend but mostly foam. Still trying to post pics, not sure what the problem is....

Sidenote; I would recommend OP as a coach if you're playing in South America. Had two hours worth recently and improved my game.

Illusions- have been here for 2.5 years and still haven't taken the trek to Quito, pretty bummed about it and would like to spend sometime there but have alot going on in Guayaquil, plus all my friends here so not sure if it going to happen, but your description sounds great and from what I hear from other people, it is really cool place.

I am in Guayaquil- biggest city in the country. Its modern and close to the beach which make it nice, although Cuenca has more charm and Quito is probably a bit nicer. The people here are friendly, and I have lots of friends and connections so I am here basically besides the 6 months I spent in Cuenca last year. You coming down Dekid?

if you ever happen to come down to Peru, I'm in mancora which is a really fun party/surf beach city - basically the same as montanita and not too far from guayaquil. Anyways I always have and we can swap pokerstars, moneybookers, 888, etc - up to 10k or so is fine. I have a million references and am trusted in the poker world Also if you have bitcoin I'd be happy to swap my stars for your bitcoin. I'll prob be in guayaquil sometime as well if I need anything from a big city as its way closer than lima to me. I'd also swap ya my stars for your paypal, US bank, schwab, chase... im flexible with other ideas. ehhh paypal transactions can be reversible, so maybe not that one unless you have solid references.

Keith, you think if I brought my car to guayaquil it would be relatively safe? Mainly talking about for the weekend or something but also possibly for long term parking somewhere as flying out of guayaquil makes more sense usually. Was almost headed there next weekend but I found what I needed in Piura, a city a couple hours south of me and where I am currently.

Carnivale in Ecuador sounds rad!! hahahaha sounds frustrating to say the least with finding a place to stay. Friends in cusco said it was insane fun as well, but I guess here in Peru there's certain cities that go craaazy with celebrating it and I missed out on that.

hey bro, ereck is here but frustrated with breaking even and just playing video games mostly. I moved in with a cool guy from scotland to a much better place and its going well. In terms of car, it is def safe. I feel like even lower middle class guayequilonos have them so there is plenty of parking and haven't heard of break ins. Not sure what long term parking costs but has to be way less than the states in that not many ppl do it. Crazy last 4 weeks mostly girl related and feriado related- drove 11 hours to find a bed to no avail with an ex that was visiting. Let me know if u head up.

I will get some photos out there asap my friend. Just have to figure out how to do it.

How do you go about things regarding visas? Can you stay all year around without any problems?
