Applying for residency in Mexico

I'm looking into getting my temporary residency, and it seems like being a poker player makes this a pain in the ass.
Has anybody here successfully applied for residency with the 'proof of required monthly income' path?
One consulate I emailed told me that "Self-employees are considered under savings or investments, not by incomes", but I know that some consulates are more lenient than others.
What do I need to do to make this work?

photoshop bank account stuffs. or find an office/immigration lawyer within mexico to get you in under the covid temp residency program - you need to have an expired FMM to do so. been on temp for 4 years and just got permanent myself

Unfortunately I wasn't in Mexico during the years required for that program. Unless and expired FMM from 2023 would work it looks like photoshop is going to be my best bet. I heard that's worked for others as well

would still possibly work, just depends on the state. an english friend of mine just started his TR that way maybe 5 months ago via quintana roo. soniadiaz.mx may also be able to point you in the right direction - email and more info on her website

I posted on her FB group and get the usual generic response, no creative solutions.
Was your friend in the same situation as me? No visits prior to 2019?
Seems like something I'd have more success with once I'm on the ground in Mexico. I'm hearing that getting an invite from someone could also be an option

she prefers email. he's been there previous to 2019. If by getting an invite you mean marriage - then sure.
just photoshop some docs man. nobody cares. cannot be done in country, must be outside of mexico. if you want to apply for corona visa you need to get here AND wait 6 months for that to expire. corona isn't (never was?) a thing, so I'd say diminishing returns of success the longer you wait halfway into 2024
