I'm also thinking about moving to the Philippines in about a month and would like to find a pokerhouse. I am a $.5 / $1 hu plo grinder, so I am not a baller.

As far as banking goes, is setting up an HSBC international bank account the best way to go?

How long can I get my Visa extended for?

I was thinking Cebu City, but I am open to other suggestions.

PM me if you are serious or already have a house and are looking for another roommate.

Yes, they take everything. I even got searched for money at Clark airport but got away since I was about to exchange them for foreign currency inside the airport.
I cant see the scenario when you need to bring more than 10k pesos outside. Either you put the amount inside your PH bank account or you exchange it to USD etc if you want to use it abroad, then the limit is $10k.

I just came back to PH from a visit back home. For the 3rd time in a row now they haven't asked for a return ticket at the border. This has been the case since I got my ACR-I card.

So is it true that you dont need a return ticket once you have and show your ACR-I? Can anyone confirm this?

My take on the ACR card and them not asking for a return ticket would be uneducated check in staff. I have permanent residency and my ACR card is exactly the same as a tourist one except mine has the word permanent opposed to temporary.

A friend returning to the Philippines from the UK got asked why he did not have a return ticket so he said he had permanent residency. Response to this was they said if you have permanent residency you have to have an ACR card. He showed them and was ok.

So my take on the situation is that with no return ticket they ask to see proof of residency and have been told that any ACR card is sufficient. However globally education levels of Filipino immigration laws by check in staff is going to vary so IMO it is still going to be a risk not having a ticket.

I'd still say a refundable Cebu Pacific flight is the best bet.

I play NL10 - NL25 recreationally. I have a significant amount in the sharemarket and spend a decent amount of time researching potential stocks/dealing with my broker and maintaining my portfolio.

Would be doing a combo of these in Phillo. But mostly taking it easy! Very keen to party, play golf, go to the gym and chill on the beach with a beer when i can!

Hi,

What kind of online dating sites are good for meeting girls in Metro Manila?

When I google I mostly get these sketchy sites and some legit ones don't allow Filipino signups

There's only 2 options imo:

http://www.filipinocupid.com/ - Pay site but has good quality and a good selection.

http://www.dateinasia.com/ - Free site with many manila profiles but the quality varies.

To think of it, wouldn't a paysite weed out a ton of poor/weirdo girls?

Are there a decent amount of working girls on these online sites? Obviously that is unacceptable.

Like frankly I'm looking for non-golddiggers who can take care of themselves, have work/similar and like...girls that can have sex before marriage who don't go "oh by the way I don't have money for transportation"

Thanks a lot for the suggestions, I will put up some profiles here and there.

I think you're in for some culture shock with this mindset. At the very least, you're expected to support your woman here. It's hard enough removing the expectation that you support her entire family as well if you're a foreigner. Also, if she's coming to your place a lot, then transportation is a real financial burden for her even if she works.

Some random basic advice about online dating in the Philippines:

1. Don't use a paysite. I don't see any need to when there are so many free resources (I personally use around 5-6). One of the good things about the horrible overcrowdedness of Manila is that there will never be a shortage of girls to meet, whether in person or online.

2. Live in a central, easy to find location near well-known landmarks and malls. I'm sorry guys living in Eastwood but you're really far from everything and a lot of girls will not want to travel all the way there. The hardest part about online dating is getting the girl to meet you, and living in a bad location will really hinder you in that aspect.

3. There will usually be some kind of language barrier but don't worry. Learn how to speak simple English and have her teach you some Tagalog (even if her English is fine) - it builds comfort and it's a good go-to routine whenever there's a lull in the conversation. There should never be any awkward silence.

4. Pay for everything. In the Philippines it's expected that the man pays. Pay for the food/drinks and give her money for transportation, but don't give extra spending money - it's bad (sets up the girl to expect it each time), unnecessary (if the girl likes you) and it might offend her (make her look/feel like a whore).

5. If you're like me and mostly just interested in flings, go for it on the first date. Because Filipinas are notoriously flaky and you never know for sure if there will be a second date. Personally I always try to incorporate alcohol and kino (PUA speak for making physical contact) so that it builds up to sex. Note that this advice may not apply to someone looking for a serious girlfriend//LTR, but I still think it's a good idea.

I am a hu plo pro in Cebu, but I live with my girlfriend, so I can't really join a pokerhouse, lol.

HSBC is easiest for foreigners. You ca get your visa extended to 90 days.

It's good stuff.

Good job not mentioning any links though.

I'm gonna throw in there though that occasionally or more, from at least 3 sources there are girls who want to chop the bill or even treat the guy for dinner/movie/etc. This is obviously the minority but worth mentioning to prevent generalizing.
I am very happy right now getting interest from girls with real jobs who seemingly have enough self respect to not be looking for the jackpot donk who donates 50k to her family every 2 weeks. I like.

If long distance is an issue from QC, then meet at a neutral location. Here in EW, there is no nearby MRT station/etc and switching jeepney 4 times is obviously a hassle for the female. I agree and know from other sources, meeting up here is kind of lame and I know girls are hesitant to go here. I'd be happy to go as far as Makati if I like the cyber girl.

I agree with Jeff considering ship money for the girl for transportation, I mean, if taxi back and forth is 500 then it may be 2 daily salaries for her and 15 minutes -+ of grinding for us. Some, however, would take a ton of pride in providing for themselves (which also is a massive DHV for her to use pua terms rofl)

Sort of looking for more info though. I went into online dating mostly because I run into too many hookers doing live pickup and it's a waste of time. And I mean, it is hard to throw in revealing career questions without prolonged interaction..

I'm currently in Manila and will stay until 6th of september. Currently I stay at makati area. The city seems great so far but haven't done any sightseeing yet. It's so big here that I don't know where to start. If any 2+2ers want to meet up in one way or the other, send me a message.

I propose we grab a meal at Charlie's Grill and Grind in Kapitolyo. Good burgers, cheesesteaks, wings, etc. and can accommodate a decent amount of people. IMO it should be during a weekday late at night to avoid rush hour traffic.
