Be there any long-term visa options out there for Philippines, akin to Thai Elite Visa?

What are all the grinders doing?

Philippines is probably the easiest in SEA for longterm stays.

Retirement visa is a pretty easy option, as is continually renewing short term visas.

Thanks for the info. Retirement seems straightforward, although $50k is a big chunk to lock up! I wonder how easy it would be to get this out of the country is decide to leave.

Are there any cheeky things like the education visa of Thailand? Or indeed any specific schools one might know of? Before elite I was on one of these, loved my bi-weekly 2 hour Thai lessons. Learned quite a lot, made friends and had ample time for poker endeavors. I hear a lot of guys doing Muay Thai etc and paying to not go lol.

When I was there I was getting 6 month extensions. I would pay some woman to do it, but if you want to sit in line it's super cheap. I'm pretty sure you could do it indefinitely. I think it's still the same. Leaving required an exit fee, but it wasn't that much.

I didn't realize retirement visa required locking up 50k.

The only requirement was to leave every 3 years and just come back.

Easiest country in the world for visas.

30days on arrival
1 month max extension after that
1, 2, 6 months extensions after that

Up to 3 years and leave for a day and reset

After 6 months you need to do exit clearance where they take ur fingerprints to make sure u not done a crime.

Don't need to worry about anything else

Which country were you thinking of?

Georgia is 1-year visa free and supposedly you can just exit and renew for another year. You likely need to be white and with a western passport though as they are pretty racist.

That would have to be in the running for easiest.

I think he means countries in central and south America, some are very easy if you have the right passport

Was thinking of Argentina where overstaying your visa for a few years leads to a $20 fine and no more, but was mainly being a smart arse and correcting his absolute statement

Was obviously a throw away comment to imply how easy it all is.

Of course I have no idea about most visas in the world.

Will be in Manila for a few days later this week.

1) How is the live poker scene? Anything above 5/10+ usd?. If so, where?
2) Do I need to convert PHP ahead of time or will usd + cc work?

Thanks

2) Actually you need to convert in PH bcos import/export of more than 50k PHP (like 1k US) is forbidden. The good news is there are money changers that will do it with relatively low vig. Cash is king tho, if you find someone that will take your CC in the first place they will probably hit you with a bad rate and/or fees. Disclaimer, haven't been since Covid, things might have changed but I doubt it. Also no idea current games, but games higher than 5/10 US equivalent were rare even before Covid, they were usually not public casino games. Even 5/10 was not easy to find, it was usually just at maybe on average one place, maybe sometimes two, sometimes zero (and might have been PLO). The highest that ran every day consistently was 100/200 php (2/4). Phils are poor peeps, they have the typical 3rd world problems, almost all the peeps in these games are other Asian or Western and they come and go, so not much consistency. As I said no current info, sorry but Phils just fully relaxed their Covid restrictions not too long ago, so I wouldn't expect everything being back at 100% yet...
Also smoking is usually allowed everywhere

Hey guys,

When I start to cashout a few thousand dollars every month from my online poker winnings, will the bank ask me about it? If so, should I just say it's from winnings?

Thanks.

edit: I'm from the Philippines, and I'm asking about Philippines Banks (BDO)

50% is accurate 50% is inaccurate . I know everything about the games but why would I reveal something that just attracts good players to be competition

Ive been to Vietnam and Thailand and I would say 400-500 USD a month would get a great 1br apartment in a decent safe location, maybe even a high floor or near water etc, is that the same in Phillipines?

What are the best areas and how welcoming to expats grinders compared to Thailand or Vietnam?

Any big discrepancies?

Was just there a week ago. Newport Resorts (formerly RWM) is now terrible for poker. Tight regs who buy in with short stacks, poor action.

Are there any spots in Manila with regular 200/400php ++ games?

I am not there to comment directly, but my friend said that 200 400 was running at Okada. He hasn't been there long enough to comment on how regularly it runs.

im owed 150k security deposit from my previous rental. it says it needed to be returned after 2 months of move out date and its approaching 3 months and vague excuses or no replies to me and my agent.

Does anyone have any plans of actions?
i assume a lawyer is needed at some point but ive never gone about getting one before? any recommendations?
