I'm totally against recommending buildings. Furnishings vary so much by owner that I've seen nicer places in Jazz and Tivoli than in Gramercy or Knightsbridge.

You're way better off just shopping around, and if you see a few ****ty places in one building don't be discouraged.

I'm going in late March. Never been to the Philippines. Haven't confirmed anything yet for hotels but have heard good things about using the Radisson as a home base:

I lived in Cebu and if I were going to Philippines I wouldn't stay there the full time. Perhaps split your time between Cebu and other islands such as Palawan, Bohol, Bantayan. Personally I would do 1-2 nights in Cebu and the rest elsewhere.

While in Cebu you don't have to stay at the expensive resorts on Mactan to enjoy their pools/amenities (they have day passes -- Crimson is one good one and a few others). I like Marco Polo hotel in Cebu (has a big pool and good buffet)

For hotels I highly recommend Peacock Garden in Bohol if it's in your budget.

Have fun!

What do you think about Acqua Private Residences by Century Properties?

A mile away from Gramercy, Knightsbridge etc. finished in October 2017 aside from the hotel part.

I'm concerned about formaldehyde off gassing due to the newness and noise from the hotel construction. Thoughts?

There are Airbnb units you could stay short term and check it out. Let me know if you do I was interested in that place. Ended up not staying because I was worried about the traffic getting over the bridge every time I wanted to go out

The huge gym, pool, bball court and shops are still under construction and not yet open. As of a month ago the main drive way/entrance is not open which creates tons of problems for uber/grab and makes the commute 3x longer. It takes an hour + taxi/uber fare just to go buy a bottle of water and get back. I even had to take the little ferry thing across Pasig river and then walk to rockwell a few times because it is faster than uber/grab (20-30 mins journey although it's like 200 meters from Acqua). Can't even take a tricycle over the bridge unless you basically walk to the bridge by tivoli which is like 6-7 min walk already.

The buildings are nice and everything is new but avoid Acqua until its fully finished construction imo. Tivoli is much easier with regards to accessing just about anything at this point.

I recommend the Beacon in Makati. Strong walls, lessens noise pollution atleast 50% compared to most properties ive lived there. Gym well equipped and pool + sauna decent aswell.

Every unit there has window AC which is more noisy than split AC but havent seen split ACs in Phils.

Smdc properties have usually terrible management and ones ive rented from Airbnb extremely cheaply furnished. Chair went broke by first time sitting.. Everything plastic. Pool dirty, elevators always broke.

Hi guys! We are 3 poker players from Spain arriving to the country at the end of the month. We will look for travel, fun and also a bit of grinding, and maybe if we like it, staying here for some months. We wanted to ask some questions, and know your opinion about certain things. I know many of the questions will have been answered here or in other forums but still want to have a 2018 updated info.

- How much are you guys spending on average during a month?
- Do you use airbnb or any other cheaper website to hire?
- Which mobile phone company do you recommend? I play spins so I would need a stable one in case wifi at home drops down.
- Taxi from the airport? Is there any scamming type of taxi? Do we have to negotiate the price before getting in? How much would it cost to Fort Bonifaccio or Makati for instance.
- Would you recommend any other neighborhood for living?
- Which neighborhoods are the most dangerous ones we should always avoid to go throw?
- Is there any poker community outside Manila?
- Do any of you have monitors, tables, or chairs to play poker on sale/”hire”?
- How did you get the documents in order to play in pokerstars.com?
- How do you deposit in pokerstars? I heard there are some problems with skrill or neteller.
- Any fishy asian network available in the Phils recommendable here?
- Which hospital would you recommend in case of need?

Thank you very much for reading!

- How much are you guys spending on average during a month? 2.5k$-3.5k$
- Do you use airbnb or any other cheaper website to hire? airbnb usually. obv try to get their skype or something from skipping the filter as prices widely differ when discussing off airbnb
- Which mobile phone company do you recommend? I play spins so I would need a stable one in case wifi at home drops down. globe. think globe/smart pretty similar maybe though. Never had unstable internet when staying at makati (gramercy) and couple locations in BGC
- Taxi from the airport? Is there any scamming type of taxi? Do we have to negotiate the price before getting in? How much would it cost to Fort Bonifaccio or Makati for instance. go to the grabtaxi stand, usually the easiest. up to 300p ish? Just easier than dealing with all the taxi bull****. Could go to departures and flag one down. could cost 200p maybe? GRabtaxi just seem easiest though. taxi drivers are *******s in this country
- Would you recommend any other neighborhood for living? no
- Which neighborhoods are the most dangerous ones we should always avoid to go throw? You likely wont go through any dangerous areas if youre living in makati/BGC. Malate is known for being "dangerous", if you tell filipinos from makati/BGC youre going there, they will tell you to be careful.... but isnt really that dangerous. + its a dying ****hole so no point going there
- Is there any poker community outside Manila? Think the community in cebu has died as i dont think theres live games running anymore?
- Do any of you have monitors, tables, or chairs to play poker on sale/”hire”?
- How did you get the documents in order to play in pokerstars.com? didnt need to
- How do you deposit in pokerstars? I heard there are some problems with skrill or neteller. if trouble depositing why not try the skype transfer group?
- Any fishy asian network available in the Phils recommendable here?
- Which hospital would you recommend in case of need? #1 by far...St. Lukes hospital BGC. #2 makati med?

Thank you very much for reading!

What's the best way to send a few k in cash from us to manila? Assuming western union is probably the easiest, any better ideas? Cash only, no bank accounts required.

Well it is phone app and ppl make clubs and invite ppl on them to play mostly cash games... If you go casino here you will see usually someone playing with this app. You need to find agent to buy chips and games depends on clubs... I have only see few heads up tables though

Planning to play some of the APT Manila events next month. Does anyone know how taxes work with winnings? Will they withhold a %? How much? I’m a US citizen if that matters. Also can anyone tell me what the current rake is for cash games at City of Dreams? Is rake pretty much the same in every casino in Manila? Thanks.
