He's saying you won't be able to beat the rake, not the players.

ive been there 3 times and was a fantastic place, my last trip i went to manila to play the pokerstars manila megastack 6 series and placed 9th in the 3k freezeout, great food, great place, great people, very affordable accommodation and affordable cost of living, i suggest getting "grab" installed on your cell phone as its the safest and most convenient way of getting around. paranaque has some great places to stay, i particularly liked staying at shateau elysee condominiums near dona solidad ave. its safe, clean and close to the airport and the casino.

enjoy your travels there ladies and gents, if you have any questions feel free to ask me.

Hi,

I plan to move to Philippines together with my girlfriend in September. My plan is to play live poker there for a living because I've heard that there are 2/4$ equivalent games running all the time which is a good limit to make a living imo.

However I have never been to Asia and I am wondering where in Philippines games are most attractive and best action? Manila? Or maybe in Cebu or Angeles City? Important for me is to have 2/4$ or higher action.

Next important point is accomidation. I guess Airbnb would be the best choice. Do you think I would find something nice for 2 persons for lets say 500-1000$ budget per month?

Thanks in advance

Currently Manila is your only option although rumor mill says Cebu might be an option later.

Accommodation budget is reasonable.

Are you saying live poker may be returning to Cebu? And potentially in the form of a consistently running 100-200 game?

Yeah supposedly there might be a room opening up there in the foreseeable future, but doesn't like it's soon if it's happening at all.

It's all gossip at this point.

Played in Casino Filipino and Wild Aces. Both games were dry as ****. On 10% rake, we'd need big whales to make it profitable. But Filipinos are all weak tight. Yeah maybe I can make TOPS 5bb hour? Playing aggro pre flop and winning limped pots

Has anybody ever tried Subic? I'd guess there are some foreigners in there?

Best action is generally Solaire for Higher Stakes. Often have 500/1k running.

Around the bay where all the casinos are springing up you can get accommodation cheaper than say the Fort.

Uber is way better than grab taxi btw.

Can anyone give a current rake chart and games list for Solair? Any regular 100/200nl games there?

Yea should have 100/200 daily, for solaire and about everywhere else in Philippines rake is 10%(resort's world is only one with 5%) depending blinds, example: 25/50 max 300, 50/100 max 400 100/200 max 500 etc.

500/1000 is only running during big tournament series at solaire (with macau pros) and the rake is capped at 1000 pesos.

So what's the biggest regular game in manila?

100/200 and its ultra nitty and quite a tough game now. Poker isn't really good in manila anymore appart for the odd tournaments running thne you have some good fish playing omaha for high stakes but its quite rare.

When I went to manila for a poker trip like 7 years ago I felt it was pretty nitty (same with Macau), sounds like there was only a small window of decent poker in the PI.

I'm feeling like Bangkok/pattaya actually have the best live games at the moment from what I'm hearing.
