not phils specific, but when looking at places to stay i have found the same apartments on airbnb and long term rental sites like lamudi. the same place will be listed @ 1k for the month on air bnb but only 500-600 per month when doing 6month-1year contract. anyone have luck haggling the owner down to the same price as long term but just doing month to month?

Hi guys, i have been tracking this post and some others regarding playing poker in manila. Im arriving to the city in the following week and will have few days to play som live NLH. I read here and in some othe places that several cash rooms are collusioned, so rethar play mostly at tournaments and low ( but fair and un-coluted...) Stake tables (50-20pp and lower).
I've heard that metro card was great, but deteriorated over the last couple of years, is that true? And anyway - does anyone have good reccomendation to casinos / room with the condition mentioned above?

i own a 1 bedroom here and the current tenant is moving out. if anybody is interested in staying, short or long term let me know. price is negotiable. poker funds, btc, usd, php all fine. i haven't posted to olx yet, but will be doing so in a couple weeks. i'm kind of lazy to find tenant, set up lease etc. so you might get a good deal if we can just go based on my rep here. or if you have a good rep as well, then won't need deposit etc.

it's about 15-20 minutes away from airport and most casino's as well.

pm me.

Not sure why you would go anywhere else other than Manila if live poker is what you are looking for.

Nobody said good things about the poker rooms in Manila, also I'd guess the stakes are higher (and cost of living too). I'm on full nit mode heheheh

On the other hand, I've found poker rooms in Angeles through FB and all the pics feature only recreational look-a-like players. And airbnb has some pretty cheap stuff in there as well

But the internet can fool us. Do you have experience playing on those cities?

There are no reports on them. I'm guessing it's a lot of omc's and soft playing/colluding locals.
Worth a shot. I'd say go check it out.

ya considering how crappy the recent reports on manila are along with the crappy logistics dont think its a terrible idea to try, at least both rooms are a 5 minute walk from one to the other

how much are rooms a night in angeles on airbnb? if you are trying to save money just stay at big tommys on macarthur hiway, 600 pesos a night and even cheaper if you do long term

Yea pretty much what K2D 5south said... I used to play there couple of years ago... Was fun.. but poker is much better in Manila, though it is nice that you can walk everywhere. I think double a has 25/50 or maybe 50/100 one or two tables daily. Wild aces might have smaller blinds and tournaments... but i would avoid it as there used to be colluding and heard even massage guys signaling the hole cards for 'local grinders' plus expat manager tried to stop that and got threads and even punch on the face.

There used to be poker in casino(next to big tommy) also... but yea wasn't really foreigner friendly either... even though owner was foreigner. Then there used to be poker room in Korean town also(run by koreans obv) called prince poker or something.

Go a pharmacy that is not watsons and ask for it. They will ask if you have a prescription say yes. If that doesn't work then try another.

This is one time so take it for what it's worth: last time I was in Angeles the card room had several 300+ bb stacks and it was mostly Koreans not locals.

Going to Angeles tomorrow. Plan is cheap hotel + wild aces. If run good, rent airbnb for a weeks.

I kinda disbelieve that they will severelly rip off every customer... is it even possible to the dealers to give out coolers etc ?
If it's the '2 players vs me' collusion thing, I don't care. I plan to play nitty and short stacked anyway

u cant beat low stakes games live by short stacking
Anyone to ask about living in the Philippines? Quote

Not 40bb short... like 80 to 100 and quit if reach 300 or even stay if theres an idiot spewing
But LOL at you saying that live games cant be beat... fish opening 10x utg with marginal hands... getting into pots with more than your stack of dead money all the time too

Dante, I've read some of your posts about Angeles on NomadPhils. Jspill also gave me some hints.
Great content, guys. Thanks a lot!
