Manila:
7-8am is kinda bad timing... but i'm sure there is game somewhere(and no idea which limit)... but not sure which room/casino.... Resort's world used to be 24/7... but yea the game does die sometimes

Cebu:
Some time ago i heard all where closed... but also hear that pocket aces(or what was the new name for ex metro at as fortuna) was going to reopen... not sure if it up and running allready though.

I played at the one on ac fortuna (fairly close to immigration) but it was about 5 months ago . Not to be doom and gloom but im sure not optimistic about any gamblin places reopening considering the political climate ya 8am never a popular time in the poker world . Certainly the worst games overall are the daystarter bunch . But when your old that good nights sleep is priceless !

plan has changed, so we will fly to manila instead. seems like somewhere between cod and resortsworld would be the best place to rent a condo?!
been there three times for the apt and appt and paranaque was a pain in the...because of the ridiculous traffic.
afaik there is no big series at the time we travel(8.2.-20.2.) and i have no idea where the best cg or mtt(prefered) action is. whats the best place to reach both casinos easily.
also i heard about metro card club, nobody mentioned this one, also a couple of other cardrooms mentioned at somuchpoker.com! where is the best place to stay?

COD had games running 24 hours for awhile, but I imagine that's changed with the new rooms opening.

Also playing the lower stakes games, which is the most likely to be running at that time, is a waste of time.

Well you can rent either very close to CoD and solaire(solemare for example) but that is around the paranaque area. Or very close to resort's world. But at least last year it was pretty painful to go from one to another even though they are pretty close but traffic was terrible indeed due road construction but it should be ready now and mostlikely have improved the traffic conditions by now. Though if you only stay 12days, it might be better just to stay at hotels.
Metro is in quezon city near megamall(biggest mall in Manila and one of the biggest in world also) so it is quite far from those other places and going there through edsa is usually hell(by far worse than in paranaque).
What new rooms have opened there recently(after lucky fish)?

How do you guys go with paying the standard 2 month deposit for renting a condo and be sure you won't get scammed out of it? I'm very worried about that.

contract

The contracts hardly help you from getting your deposit taken due to nonsense reasons. If you do some searches you'll see that owners keeping the deposit is fairly common and the tenant has pretty much no recourse as they are likely leaving the country when they quit renting and even if they aren't then taking legal action is a pain.

Use owners with a good reputation and go through the place with a camera along with the owner before you start renting. This won't prevent them from screwing you if they really want to but it helps.

There's also ways to not pay the 2 months. For example a few people I know will just rent airbnb then talk to the owner and see if they are willing to do a month by month with no contract.

Try to rent from a foreigner . No guarantees but still most likely better experience overall . Dont use an agent or middleman . Visit the condos in person . Dont even ask anything ( extra good deals) over the phone cuz they wont budge as a rule unless in person . And you can offer several months in advance instead of a "deposit "(like a 3 month contract paid up front) . Do not pay monthly asking price cuz most will come down at least a little probably more (but dont let your pride kill an otherwise good deal because of a few thousand pesos . LOCATION is everything (to me anyways and especially if you new to the third world) . Foreigners WANT to rent to other foreigners is the norm . But getting the owners phone numbers (cut out agents) is everything . They steal so many deposits (local owners) i wouldnt rent from anyone but a foreigner unless i had extremely good references from another foreigner where they gave the deposits back , ect . ...even then its still gambling when you give them money up front cuz even honest ones might blow the money even if they wanted to return it......i do like the airbandb approach cuz you can rent for a few days and test the area . Even if the owners are honest and return your deposits you dont wanna be stuck with loud neighbors for 6 months that you didnt know about . And many of these owners are desperate for a single foreigner (believe it or not) to rent to cuz they know you wont be moving in a whole tribe of relatives and butchering pigs for the latest celebration . One of the few places in the world that a landlord would rather know about a hooker or two then a family reunion at his rental

www.airbnb.com has some. Obviously you do pay a bit of premium on such sites though.

Offcourse you have to pay more for just monthly(atleast in Manila).
In solemare(condo near cod) i took 6months contract for 23k per month, i could have gotten it monthly for 35k(though would have included utilities) per month... but you can just show up there and ask agents(dunno if it works in other condos).

I'm going to Manila for at least 2-6 months after never having been to Phils or any part of Asia before. Any advice you wanna give me in advance so I can avoid ending up disappointed, robbed or dead?

Stay in Makati, the Fort or Rockwell and get Uber everywhere, it's cheap and fast. Gramercy condo is nice.

Thanks but I've already booked a place in Taguig cuz it's cheaper and my budget for rent is like $250/month. I really hope I'll be ok safety wise.

Taguig should be ok though that low it might be bit sketchy place and depending where would you like to go(casinos for example) you might be dealing with some traffic issues.
But yea don't show up that you have money and don't be rude and you should be ok. Just do some careful exploration(there are some nice places, not too far from Manila). Good to bargain bit and look different prices like allways ask meter in taxi(or just use uber).

for that kind of commitment you might as well write straight up how much you are paying
