170 pesos on the meter, yeah i felt super safe

There's a grabtaxi stand downstairs that's even safer, you have to wait a min while the guy books you one on his ipad. More professional drivers and nicer vehicle. That was 220 or so. Would use that if I was travelling with a child / my grandma or something

Dunno about Philippines, but if you don't have any immigration problems(like your visa, passport,or etc)they didn't have the right to check and confiscate anything.. That's what happened when I was in India, and as far as I know,my country Indonesia also treated foreign like that..

Not so much that games are that tough just that take is high. Read the last few pages.

Also most good/winning players over estimate their edge in any game anyway, and many don't seem to realize that there are certain spots it's literally impossible to turn a profit in no matter how big their edge is.

I always recommend the coupon taxis for newcomers. Avoid all the touts and head to the coupon rank.

Has a whole bunch of destinations and prices up on a big blue board.

Not as cheap as picking up a cab from departures, but more certain for newbs

How much would Uber or grab or the coupon taxis be to Gramercy from Ninoy airport? The company that rented me a place also offered a pick up service for 1000 pesos from Ninoy airport to Gramercy .

At City of Dreams it is for most games 10% and not 5%, I wrote to the casino and today they sent me that info. If you play for lower than the high stake 1000-2000, the rake is 10%. Now I don't know about the other casinos in Manila...Are they mostly at 5% rake? What about the Solaire Resort and Casino for example?

Yes that is what I meant. Solaire and cod is 10% which is why lucky fish is low at 5%. Rw is 5% as well but they rarely get 100 200 running for more than a few hours and no automatic shuffles.

500 1000 and 1000 2000 is still 10% rake and they take up 1000 php instead of 500. Also as a huge lollllllllll: was playing 4 handed 500 1000 and I asked for half rake (they don't do that 5 handed) and the floor agreed. Dealer keeps taking 10% and I call the floor over again to ask what is going on. They tell me that "oh no you are confused. By half rake we mean we take half rake of the second half of the rake."

...

so the dealer was told to take 10% up to 500 then 5% on the remaining 500. Ridiculous.

Also since we are on the subject: I think I'm giving up on Uber unless it's for short distances. The drivers seem to have no clue where they are going and blindly trust their navigation system which is absolutely awful.(BTW most don't even use 3g so the app they use does an approximation which can be way off)

I spend half the ride telling them how to get from my place to Makati or the fort the quickest then the second half praying that the navigation system knows where the correct place is. It's taken me to places that are not even close before. Is this just bad luck or is it happening to anyone else?

Uber is still better than normal taxis in every way. Safer and no scams. Just ask the driver not to use waze and cancel on drivers with lower than 4.5 score.and plot the correct address into the uber app.

About the LONG-STAY VISITOR VISA EXTENSION (LSVVE), 6 months visa, can I travel abroad while on this visa or will any travel abroad cancel the rest of the visa?

Decent amount of talk about the live games in Manila in this thread, but I don't recall hearing too much about straddles.

BGP, Killah and others what are the straddle rules there in Manila at the moment, (do they have them at all, is it UTG only, is it 2xbb, are there any mandatory straddle games spread, etc?) and how often do people tend to straddle in the games, say evening and night games for instance. ?

Uh I guess I'm mostly interested this info for the 100-200 game specifically.

when i flew to phils out of LA once they were stopping people randomly right before we boarded the flight, like after immigration and on the walkway to the plane, they stopped me, searched my bag and my shoes, and we had a 'talk'

they were looking for cash i think, as all of their questions were about money

so, if you were on the 1% of flights that had this happen and were one of the 10% of people that got stopped then it would probably be a problem if you had 10k+ in cash on you

I flew out of LAX for SEA one time with $10k+ in cash on my person, although I think I was flying to Bangkok not anywhere in PI. They actually didn't want to let me board because I didn't have a return ticket to the U.S. (cheap onward ticket to another SEA country not sufficient they wanted a return ticket to the U.S.)

Sharked my way through it in the end somehow and ended up boarding with no return ticket at all, tricked them somehow...just got lucky probably

Guess I also got lucky they didn't ask me about money, because I think I had about $12k on me in cash (my liferoll at the time btw so not trying to brag at all.)
