Sure, but the odds are clearly in your favor to be alright. It's good to be cautious and think before you leap, but in general I think people are overly fearful of possible danger and exaggerate it's likelihood greatly.

Uh, that applies to Manila as it is now and has been in recent years, if Duterte turns the place into a war zone with legalized vigilantism I'll be singing a different tune I'm sure.

I was talking about Manila, not Samal or any of Mindanao. I haven't been to any parts of Mindanao either.

It have had one thing within many years... and it is full of terrorist now? I wouldn't go to zulu, zamboanga or tawi tawi either... but still thing Davao(and samal) is perfectly safe(i do feel lot of safer there than in Manila(though don't feel too afraid here either))

Does anyone have preferences for the rewards programs for Solaire, City of Dreams, and Resorts World Manila casinos? E.g. which are better value, have higher or lower thresholds for getting comps, poker action qualifies?

I'm not a newb to poker or the Philippines, but am to poker and the Phils haha. Im considering spending extended time there during the November-May dry season, and wanted to add some poker and table game action.

From reading this great thread, my inclination is to rent an apartment (Sea Residence, Sole Mare, Shell) near moa and Solaire/cod. So probably wouldn't be as interested in room comps.

Solaire seems to have the most info on rewards promotions, with new member promos, bonus periods, daily promos. On this or any other basis would BM consider this their favorite program?

I've searched and emailed the properties but can't get useful info for apples comparison.

Also any BM stayed at Shell Pasay? I've seen Sole Mare and Sea Residences mentioned quite often but not Shell. Is it not as good for some reason?

Thanks in advance.
Only at resort's world you get points from poker but it is bit hard to get there from those places due traffic as they are construction of new road... Not sure which has best reward program for other games. But there are some condos near resort's world also.

as BGP said no one is saying davao isn't safe

there are two places where i think if a foreigner spends enough time they are putting themselves at an elevated risk and that would be the southern half of mindanao outside of davao and in ermita malate near all the bars where whats his face from this forum got robbed at gunpoint

are you likely to get in any trouble at either if you are there a handful of times? no, i roamed around the streets outside of LA cafe by myself at 3am one night and it seemed safe and quiet........ but if you put yourself in those areas to long you are at a higher risk then most other places
not trying to be picky but the most dangerous areas are of course the outskirts. didn't feel particularly safe when some dudes wearing red handkerchiefs around their face gave me the staredown. but you shouldn't have any business going there anyways . Been living in Malate for 2 months now and yeah you def shouldn't venture off to far from the main road at night. Where exactly did Burnss get robbed?

Cebu City?

No, Cebu City feels pretty safe for the most part.

Mindaue, it's neighboring city is a different story though. A lot of sketchy areas there. If you spend any time in Mandaue you'll want to be a bit more careful, especially if it's after dark.

Pretty sure it wasn't right in front of la. It was on the street leading to it, lots of dark and shady places nearby.

I've never felt remotely threatened in Cebu. Worst thing that happens to me when I pass thru the ghetto is "My Friend, My Friend, My Friend...........Hi." Also left my iPhone in a taxi and cabbie returned it.

Probably just unfortunate luck but when I was there in feb I was walking to ayala and almost got hit by a motor bike. I was crossing the street and an oncoming motorbike with a passenger moved out of their lane and went at me head on, I barely dodged it... like inches between us.

It's possible that they lost control or something and happened to get right in my path and not move, but neither looked like they were surprised or anything, I'm convinced that they were trying to hit me.

Have you walked in Manila much? You have to watch your arse no matter where you are. I've been nearly ran down by the BGC bus of all things more than once. Taxi gave me a little brush few weeks ago after I had double checked when light went green ... he of course decided to make a right out of the center lane and gun it.

Not really the same. This guy had two lanes to himself on a road with no traffic, but instead chose to go into the crosswalk and gun at me head on.

Only thing which makes me think it could've been an accident is that the road is downhill and curves a bit so maybe he lost control or something, but I'm convinced he was trying to hit me.

Ive been in cebu and am curious on others experiences. One thing that goes kinda unmentioned,if its your first time in asia just the whole looking around at times and seeing no white faces gives you an uncomfortable feeling...for me after i got settled in it was ok....and of course youre being stared at always....but i felt 10 times safer in cebu then most of lasvegas,or lots of it anyways

Oh on a safety not "crime"thing you really gotta watch walkin around.I did tons of it,even tried jogging initially, but its just too much going on i did continue to walk daily,a lot,but joined a gym and would never try jogging(unless being chased)but really dont mind walking i just pay attention at all times,or try to

Honorable members;

Solo trip to Boracay, maximum one week. Conflicting reports from the web. What do you guys think? Will I bored out of my mind? I'm not one for clubbing till early morning. I go now mainly to relax on the beach.

If you have little interest in clubbing not sure I would go for Boracay. I've always done like a 2/3 day stay and felt that was more than enough. If I were going just for beach and relax I would pick a different spot, perhaps Bohol or El Nido.

I can tell you that you walk on the wrong side of the road

(so you don't have to watch your arse)

Will be in Manila this Friday to Monday to play poker. Staying at Remington (RW).

Plan to play 50/100 or 100/200. Can anyone tell me how are the games lately (stakes and is the game on 24/7, etc)? Food options etc.

If game is slow or I'm bored I may go check out CoD and/or Solaire.

Any tips will be appreciated.
