I'm probably moving to Davao City for a few months. Anyone have recommendations for decent condos/subdivisions in Davao? PLDT Fibr already installed would be a plus.

One oasis on ecoland, near sm seems to be quite popular but i'm not so fan of location. Then there is camella northpoint near abreeza/sm lanang... Not sure about internet but yea fibr is prolly the way to go as usually connections tend to suck... Nice downtown condos are still under construction

Booked ticket and will head to Manila for a few days.

From what I've read and suggestions from friends is that:

-Resorts World have the cheapest rake. But small games

-PokerKing Club @ Solaire has 50/100 and 100/200 games running daily.

-Pokerstars Live @ COD also games but rake is higher just like Solaire.

My friend suggests that I play at these 3 places but not sure which is better than the other.

My hotel is quite far away in Robinson Galleria, how much Will cab fare be, and how far is that from the casino's?

Where should I play? The stakes don't matter that much as I'm just in tourist mode but would prefer to play a little higher.

Lastly, where can I exchange my foreign currency to pesos? At the casino will they let me buy back at the same rate?

The pokerroom at COD (not the casino itself) are usually willing to hold your foreign currency, with a buyback option at the same rate.

Thread me properly written. Sign me up.

'She no longer works for the hotel and has moved back to the province. She got about $40 in value from me by lying, and $100 or so from the Swede. But that pales in comparison to the 60 year old guy that bought her a motorbike. The day he gave her the motorbike was the last day she lived in Snooky. That night she drove off to her province never to be seen again.'

But that's the point right. The best hustlers are great at being the person you least suspect to ever do such a thing. That's how they get in and gain your trust.

Did this go smooth? I was allowed to wear shorts there in Davao last month

Shes in a fb group with other owners, so even if her unit is booked she can find available ones for you. Cablelink internet inside and PLDT wifi in the lobbies. The studio units are pretty small, but have mostly everything you would need

very seriously thinking of heading to both manila and cebu for the APPT and APT series' that are running in august.. really only going to play the mains of each tho and very much want to do some fun and touristy stuff in the local area as the primary focus of the trip, as i've never been there and am not sure when i'll be going back (unless it's as amazing as i've heard.) obviously would like to party as well.

this would be my first completely solo trip of this kind though.. i ALWAYS go either with at least one other person or am meeting someone i know decently well where i'm going. mildly unnerved about that as i literally don't speak a single word of tagalog. i've heard english is frequently spoken in the large cities though (eg manila, cebu) so it's not a huge problem. plus, i've been on quite a lot of international trips-most of which i make solo- so not hugely worried about it.

my main questions would be regarding the general safety of the areas around each casino and ability to walk to and from (potentially with cash, as i'm not sure the APT will facilitate pay outs to my stars account even tho APPT almost assuredly will) as i'm thinking of renting some airbnb's near both casinos (city of dreams manila, waterfront cebu.) it seems the closest i can find is about a 10 minute walk. these alternatives are quite a bit cheaper than staying at either of the resorts (obviously) and i am pretty disinterested in firing any side events, as i'll be heading directly to EPT barcelona upon completion of this trip and would rather remain fresh for that. don't really see the need to be at the casino hotels for the duration of the trip and considering i'm not splitting the rooms with anyone, seems a bit of a punt when the money would be far better spent elsewhere. would way rather see some of the local area and obv some of the local women. i like edm, dancing, women, cannabis and alcohol. oh and molly too lol. cultural ****, anything informative as i actually genuinely like to learn a bit about the history of places i visit (fkng lol aging tourist)

suggestions, tips, do's and dont's would be much appreciated. also, if anyone else is going to be there, it would be awesome to meet up.

CHEERS!

OH. because i was told i was insane for bringing it to malta, i need to know what the local island policy is for bananas (that's cannabis/marijuana for those of you who haven't been around 2p2 that long ) as i would for sure be bringing some with me from america, and probably some hash oil pens as well.

Smoking "bananas" are considered as a serious crime / very dangerous act here (:X) See for example: "A man was sentenced to 15 years in jail after found guilty of possessing two sticks of marijuana." I would definitely not bring it. Filipino jail conditions aren't ideal either.

Smuggling drugs into Asia is incredibly stupid. Also unnecessary, plenty of ways to source locally.

You need to be fairly discrete, also, if you get caught, don't **** around, pay the bribe quickly. "Is there a way we can sort this out now. I don't need a receipt " is what you need to say.

Fwiw. I've never paid a bribe, and plan never to have to.

Regarding the safety of your location, it depends. Nice areas tend to be close to dodgy areas, maybe post the bnb places and we can offer advice?

Taxis are cheap and easy to get and it's hot and rainy right now, so I wouldn't recommend planning a trip around walking.

There's really not much around CoD Manila, you'll probably end up taking a taxi to and from it every time.

When I did APT Cebu there was a free shuttle to and from Shangrila.

I'll probably be in town for at least Manila, maybe Cebu, if so we can meet up.

dont walk take taxis

IF you can get out of your western world airport without getting caught with the bananas then you will probably be fine because i have never once been stopped on arrival after flying into any asian country, but if for some reason they do stop you you probably will have to kill yourself in a third world prison so have fun with that

gonna be harder to pay off a bribe in an airport/smuggling case

I must run bad. I have had my bag (but never my person) searched 8/10 times landing at Manila. In all honesty the search isn't very thorough.

but yeah lol at bringing weed from u.s to PI - Not worth the risk. Think K2 is right about bribing being much harder at customs than if police get you in your room or w/e. But even then I would still not want to get caught and extorted.

but i am willing to guess the poster will assure us that he is pretty cool at smuggling and has done it loads of times before, plus like its only weed right...

wow! seems so unreal to me. i heard that it was a pretty serious crime in malta as well but had already brought it so obv bfd at that point. guess i'd just 'take a few weeks off' ty for the heads up and glad i asked.

aside from that.. it sounds like a not ideal time to come beyond there being a few deece live amentz? it being rainy season would probably limit a bunch of stuff i'd like to do outside. i suppose i could always just head to some bars / clubs, but can kinda do that anywhere and don't care to play all the side events.

and yeah really not hugely worried about it.

3. apartment has no internet (who the fk offers short term rentals without internet in 2015?)
4. ignored
5. 1 year contract min
15. ignred

Close to giving up and going homeless. Nobody wants my money Think ive looked at every apartment available so no idea what im going to do lol

People don't want to provide short term rentals. I don't know why.

I'm guessing maybe some combination of.

1. Reduced rule of law. I.e. Higher risk the landlord will get ripped off by a tenant

2. More absentee landlords. It's all done by agents for landlords in the US/Europe etc so there's a higher cost/effort to reward ratio.

i still dont understand...usually for the 6min contracts they ask for. 1 month advance and 2 month deposit. So what difference is it if im offering 3 month advance + 1 month deposit for "short term". Just seems a better deal to me the latter and it puts the risk onto me more than them of being screwed over.

ill probably have to go for some redic expensive one from airbnb or something which is annoying. Really want to live at eastwood now. Heard a lot of people say good things about it
