At a guess...He means the lower floors are noisy from the traffic? Or the walls are paper thin and you can here everything from the neighboring rooms.

Nope, I'm in high zone and depending on which side of the building you're on, you can either hear the noise from A. Venue music/live bands or loudass bass from Century City/Buddha Bar. The noise from the Century City side is kinda new, but it's ridiculously loud and can go on until 4 am. The bass vibrates up 50+ floors. That said, I've talked to people who don't notice any noise on the 7th floor, so it really depends on your hearing/noise tolerance I guess.

But that's the Philippines for you. At least in the cities.

It's a noisy country. They are used to a different culture than we are used to.

They are much more a 'stoop' culture than modern day western countries are. Groups of people chatting incessantly in the streets, drinking together in the streets, partying in the streets and blasting music in the streets is just part of the culture in the Philippines.

It wouldn't be a big deal if they weren't using concert speakers/subwoofers. Anyway, it's something I'd recommend people investigate if they're thinking of moving into Gramercy.

Uh what, so blasting speakers (outdoors) in a residential area at 4AM is ok due to culture?

Wonder why my gf is complaining about ******ed people like that more than me then..

i for one appreciate the info about loudness, i cant stay anywhere that has music blasting at night, and as jeff points out the bass from the subs is what makes it worse

Can anyone tell me if there are any live PLO games in Manila. What stakes and how often do they run? Thanks all.

Do they track usage? Is it unlimited?

Thanks,

It depends. PLDT's normal Fibr Plans have no limit (P3.5k for 8 Mbps up to P20k for 100 Mbps) and then they have 1 special Fibr Lite plan for P1.9k for 8 Mbps with a 50GB cap. See also here. I assume the type of plan is dependent on the specific apartment (probably the cheapest normal one?), but I don't have experience with that.

Seems pretty expensive for 8Mbs, hope it's good.

That 100/200 at pokerstars manila usually kicks up to 200/500 on weekend evenings. And the game plays deep.

Since the poker room manager transferred from Solaire to PS manila / COD, I think the Solaire PLO action might be dead for now.

Personally I'd like a 50/100 PLO game at PS Manila but when I asked they said it wouldn't run.

Do you mean that 100-200 plo runs every day monday to friday and full table? Good action too?
what is the rake and rake cap at cod?

They dont have enough plo players for both 50/100 and 100/200. Furthermore, with a 10% rake, at 50/100 plo, yikes.....
EDIT: On ther other hand, a 50/100 plo might be so fishy, that it would just the max rake all the time, so the effective percentage would be much lower.

Its been 6 weeks since I was there. They were able to get a 100/200 going most of the nights, but it depends a lot on who is there, as its only a rather select group who plays plo, it seems.
The rake was 5%, max 500. But I know they were talking about increasing it to 10%, max 500, anybody knows?

Also, anybody got update on Solaire action? Is it completely dead now?

The rake was 10% last time i was there.

I mean, it was some value but with the high rake and not so high stakes it´s not just worth it.

Your hourly will be too low if you are planning on playing for any other reason than leisure

PLO usually plays pretty big.

You should be able to make enough in a $2/$5 PLO game to live quite fine in
the Philippines.

Variance is insane in PLO though obviously. That's your problem. Winrate should be high enough, as long as you can withstand insane swings.

thoughts on other areas compared to makati? like QC? Apartments seem so much better there for the price. Dont really think Gramercy is worth it. I dont think i need to be central makati as want to get my head down and grind a lot when im there compared to before. Just go out once or twice a week

Rugby where do you stay?

I stay in one of the villages in makati.

However I'm looking at moving because my job is changing and I need to be out in far north QC every day and traffic is a bitch.

Ortigas has some very nice condos and restaurants etc but is considerably cheaper. Further out the stock gets cheaper and or older. Targetted more at the local market than expats. I also think you will find it harder to go month to month.

Alabang is also an option for you. With the advantage of the skyway if you ever need to get to makati. Taxis are a pain though out there.

Regarding outbound flight. Immigration don't check but your airline will, and they won't let you on without it. If your business class flight was with the same airline they would have just seen it on the system I guess.

Have you considered cebu, Davao or clark? Cebu is a great place.

Ah. Eastwood also another option for expat level condos. Getting in and out during rush hour though is brutal.

Yeah I'll second Rugby's endorsement of Cebu.

Although I do like Manila as well.

When you were in Manila before what did you like about it and what did you dislike about it Burnss?
