Stakes of 10-20, 25-50 would be fine by me.

Thanks
Most card rooms will have 10-20 and 25-50 other than the big casinos. However, outside of Manila, AC, and Cebu, it may be harder to find a licensed card room (not 100% sure).

Hi again guys. I keep spamming this thread with my stupid questions...

What's the deal with the Sabang underground river and the permits? there's a lot of controversial information out there; some say it should be bookes weeks in advance and for example wikitravel says that 2-3 days should be enough. The thing is we'd much rather get permits from PP and go there by ourselves (van/bus, jungle trail, possibly spend a night in Sapang) than pre-book some full day PP-Sapang-PP tour

thanks

edit: okay actually found a fresh thread and seems like it should indeed be booked in advance. Guess we'll just book a tour

You can exchange it easily at Super Rich (tacky name but good rates + safe place) http://www.superrich1965.com/

I always go to the location at the opposite of Central World behind the Big C, never had any issues or fake notes.

Some money questions:
1. Is it possible to transfer DIRECTLY to a dollar account in for example BDO from moneybookers/skrill?
2. Can one transfer from the BDO dollar account to an american account with use of Internet banking/cyberbanking?

Huge news for Filipinos: Congress passes RH bill.

We've got about 30 good years left.

Yeah I meant in my mind BPI is better than BDO but I might be wrong, I just remember reading that here, I think. Maybe the regulars can tell us.

Previously, BPI had the highest credit rating of any local bank (Moody's etc, and it was pretty good), but that was years ago, so I'm not sure if it's still true.

So nobody here has tried to transfer dollar in skrill to a dollar account in BDO or other banks in the Philippines?

Did over three years ago to BPI; no problem.

Should be fine. Major banks here are easy to deal with, once you've opened an account.

It seems that withdrawing from Moneybookers is YMMV. I inquired about it with support and was told that I can't (check my previous post). This was 2.5 years ago. I think you should email support yourself to get a concrete answer.

As for BPI vs BDO: BPI has more branches and ATMs, and lower minimum balance requirements. BDO has better banking hours and some branches are open on weekends. I went with BPI because of proximity but my branch gets really crowded at times and I have thought about opening a BDO account for the extra convenience.

Cool, thanks for reply. Have you tried to transfer from your dollar account in BPI an American account too?

Hi,
Anyone know what's a typical price you have to pay for accommodation in El Nido in January? Nothing too fancy, normal backpacker cottages/rooms.

Most of the prices in the internet are 'starting from xxxxPHP' but in january it seems to be the high season so i'm expecting a bit more expensive. Sent some inquiries to some places and would like something i can compare the offers to

thanks

I paid 500/night at Ogie's Beach Pension last month for their basic fan room (warning: very basic). There were a bunch of places in the 400-800 range but I went with Ogie's because they had free wifi and 24 hour electricity. Marina Garden right next door seemed like a good option for 700+ but they were fully booked when I got there.

I don't say that you wrong but isn't the BDO bigger, so they have more atms, branches? I have been towns where there are no BPI(Maasin city for example) but there is BDO almost allways(plus some other like landbank metrobank etc.). But i still choosed BPI coz they don't have any fees if you deposid/withdraw another branch than the branch you opened your account(bdo does). Though when i transfered dollars from moneybookers to my peso account i lost quite a bit(dunno if same on BDO).

Skrill customer service told me yesterday that one cannot withdraw to the Philippines and Thailand due to gambling restrictions(money from gambling source), so I don't think they know what they are talking about since transfers to Thailand is not a problem.

If you lost quite a bit then I guess you transferred a smaller amount, like $1000 or something right?

BPI has more ATMs than BDO (1,600 vs 1,372) and more branches (831 vs 716), but yea there are some areas where BDO has a larger presence.
