For sure. I was there for 5 months, and basically, everyone's best option there is just to try to find a job out of the country.

If you could have a steady income playing poker online, for lets say 400-500 a week in US dollars, what places in the world would be good for english speakers as far as being safe, affordable, fun, and English speaking?

the 100/200 at metro is pretty flexible. i think it starts at 20k. but as people get deeper, u can buy in pretty deep even if u r new to the table. 40k or even 100k.

Not really. There are USB modems you can get from Globe, Smart, etc. but they are slow and unreliable.

Does anyone know of any restaurants that are open right now? I hate Holy Week in the Philippines.

Edit: nevermind. Yellowcab delivery to the rescue, THANK GOD.

Does anyone know a site where i can book a really cheap boat or ferry going out of the Philippines? Preferably a site where i can do everything online. I'm not even going to use the ticket. I just need something to show these anal airlines proof of a return ticket so they will let me fly to the Philippines.

Any other suggestions for getting around the ol' "proof of a return ticket" are welcome.

I've been there once. I originally planned on staying a few days but only stayed for one night. It's miserable, at least the Fields Ave part of it. Its biggest draws are the cheap barfines (P1300ish including everything) and the huge amount of girls in each bar although they're pretty much all ugly. If you care about looks (and I know you do), you're better off in Manila.

Makati and Bonifacio Global City (usually referred to as the Fort area). Don't use websites for the most part.

Book an ongoing flight with AirAsia. I just put in a random date (July 15) on their website and a one-way flight from CRK-BKI is P1,009 (around $20).

So I went to Rockwell Joya and the two bedrooms are listed at 75-120k. Wondering if this is just the rate or if I should try and bargain with them. Also if I want the 75k one or a 90-95k one what price should I be suggesting?

How large are they? Always amazed at the crazy prices compared to BKK and europe. You should probably knock at least 25k off the 75k one.

Yah from what I can tell you really need to know people who are legit or know how things work, both of which are either highly unlikely or take time. The only thing I could think of that might work is hiring labor here to provide some service elsewhere (i.e. hiring a web designer here and finding clients in the US or Europe). Anything that involves you giving someone else a significant amount of money as an 'investment' will likely not end well unless you really, really know what you're doing.
