Actually IMO this thread has become quite much crap the last 10 pages, all they consist of is a discussion whether to tip the bargirls or not.. Who gives a sh*t? Get a "normal" girl instead and you wont have to tip/pay at all. The focus is entirely wrong here IMO.

And BTW, k2d why the hell did u travel straight to AC? Seems like the most stupid idea ever IMO. Get to see some nicer cities/places instead, that you could possibly have chose to stay more permanently. There are cheap ass places in both Manila and Cebu that you can stay at.

first a disclaimer, I do not have any direct financial transaction experience with hookers. But, being a Filipino and knowing a bit about our culture, I think silgibson2 understands the general idea regarding his opinion with tipping hookers. If silgibson2 is really concerned about offending or changing the dynamics of a (potential future) relationship with a hooker by giving a tip, you could modify your tip giving ways to "blunt" the perceived negative effect.

From the simplest, simply don't say it is a tip, say something else like that this is for your taxi/breakfast going home. Or the other extreme(if you're really looking for a relationship), talk to her, show interest, know more about her life. Once this is established you could easily learn all sorts of reasons to hand her money now or later. You could invite her for dinner date(pay using your withheld tip). If she is proud of cooking ask her to cook for you or say that this money is so she could add another to her collection of cookbooks. I'm sure that it will be a plus points to your ultimate objective (relationship) and at the same time imparting monetary reward that you feel she deserves.

There's a western guy in my neighbourhood who the locals despise . He tells the women he is looking for a relationship and dumps them fairly quickly once he has had his fun . This is something i would strongly warn against , even more so if you are out in the province.
Saying that , if i was single , living in Manilla or Cebu and had no interest in bar girls or a relationship , i am confident that i could have several female friends for evening's out and some fun time afterwards .
