Anyone to ask about living in the Philippines? Anyone to ask about living in the Philippines?

Yeah Thai chicks are better overall, just cus there might be a few juicer asses about does not mean they have have everything else to go with it. Thai chicks are gonna blow you away no matter what, worrying about what chicks may have slightly better asses should be the least of your worries or things to be taking into account right now.

Thai ass below if you have not seen in 4l

doubt i can afford bangkok, think pukhet might be to expensive also (could be wrong on that)

down to pataya and chiang mei i think, have to do a lot of research on both in the next few days, and its gonna be hard with how huge that thailand thread is

if anyone has any suggestions on how to learn as much about those two places as possible please let me know, any other thailand forums, whatever you think is best

also i know many of you here have experience in both places, so if all of my (vast) knowledge is on the philippines what should i expect to be different in thailand

now all of this said i havent fully made the switch yet, i was on my way to that but then i remember a post by pooter a couple weeks back where he said philippinos have better ass's so im kinda torn
Now that your considering thailand, which does not have live poker (or very little?), you could also start to consider other parts of metro manila (Paranaque, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, Pasig, Taguig, etc...), cebu, davao. I think you will be able to find cheaper rent and sacrifice live poker with travel time, less fish and low blinds. Just something to think about to make your decision more complicated

...........

K2K seems like a lost soul... I know he mentioned that he wants to have access to live poker and there is none in Thailand. If this was true his best option is still Philippines specifically Manila. Having to spend 600-800 for rent/utility/internet should not be a hindrance if he is a winning player. Paying a little more should allow him to have his live play as well.

He mentions that his bankroll will only afford him $400 for rent/utility/internet but is worrying about women. Women aren’t free regardless if they are your GF or a whore.

Advice for K2K should be for him to stay home until he has the bankroll for his journey.

Temujen, during your next trip here in PH when you have free time, maybe we could meet up.

as for K2, I could sympathize with what i "feel" he is trying to achieve. I think he will be alright with his adventure. Plus he has an ultimate backup which is simply to call mom back home for a plane ticket and go back home. So yeah, just do it! I think he have reasonably learned as much as possible, plus he could always go back to this thread to for help from us especially the expat guys.

sooooo im kinda tilty from a bad june of poker (which obv sucks since its supposed to be the best month of the year)

and now i have to make like the biggest decision of my life, and just keep going back and forth

thailand

pros = nicer, cleaner, safer, small money gets nicer place in safer area, $250 a month furnished apartments look nicer than what i currently live in, better food

cons = no english, immigration sucks (once every 6 months you have to spend a full day on a bus to go to another country and back), gambling is illegal so could be poster boy for "dont come here to play online poker" and get a long jail sentence, no live poker, since poker is illegal you cant deposit onto poker sites through banks you have to trust random 2+2 posters by fronting them money to transfer to your account, have no smokeable green stuff hookups

philippines

pros = english is much more widely spoken, immigration is much easier just have to leave the country once every year and a half, live poker, gambling not illegal, have several smokeable green stuff hook ups already in place

cons = dirty, more dangerous, cheap apts dont look nice at all and probably are in rough areas

logical choice seems to be thailand because of the safer/nicer/cleaner aspect and the nicer apartments for the money

but i seriously hate travel and a full days bus ride every 6 months sounds terrible, and i know my life and could easily be the kid locked up in a thailand jail for going over there to play online poker, also no english is quite a scary proposition

my heart wants the philippines, i can handle living in an apt thats not nice, i already do, but what im not sure i can handle is the area that apartment would be in

as much as im hating live poker right now id still like it to be an option, and already having green stuff hook ups in place takes away one of my bigger risks

so ummm ya, hmmmm

Yeah, I think the fact that you still can get money on and off the poker sites reasonably easily, even with gambling being illegal in Thailand, should clinch it for you.

And honestly, as we've all said a couple of times, Thailand REALLY is a better place to get your feet wet, if you have no experience living in the 3rd world/South East Asia.

Go to Thailand first, get experience living in that part of the 3rd world, and then you will be much better prepared when you finally do go to Philippines.

Nobody told me this when I was first starting out in SE Asia, but somehow I was just lucky that I randomly chose Thailand as the place to go first. I think my time in the Phills would have been rougher had I not built up to it by first living in Thailand.

Seriously man, Thailand, do it!

Are you saying your budget is 80k peso a month?

For that you can get ANYTHING your heart desires room wise.

Or perhaps this is not what you are saying.

What is your monthly budget for an apartment?

If the site MrGoodCat posted doesn't do the trick, you can also check out Sulit.com

You'll need to search for rooms based on location or price range though, not square meters

First time i went there i took travelers checks with me . Was a pain to find somewhere to cash them but i was glad i had them .
Make sure you inform your bank that you are going to phills . I did and despite that my card was rejected first time i used it . Got it sorted quickly but it helped they knew i was there . So i would advise some cash , t.checks and if possible ( 2 ) cards .

No worries, for more (mostly cebu specific) rentals etc you can check these links that I use myself too:

I listed them in a somewhat start-from-the-top kind of order in which I find the first few ones most useful, but a gem or two can of course be found in all kinds of places :-).

Feel free to PM me if you have any more specific questions about Cebu etc.

Good luck

@ k2d

Saw your post in thailand thread

One of my back up options was that i also took a pre paid credit card with me.

Got one called - fairfx - . Used it several times with no problems in phills and fees were better then my debit card .

Not sure if you will can get one now as you will be travelling soon but look into it . Got my card in uk , no idea what is available in US . Found out about that card on a price comparison web site .
