Each to their own. Learn to live and let live. You'll have a much less frustrating life if you mind your own business and let others mind theirs.

I thought he was talking about himself

Also, too lazy to search for the post now but * * to that guy that posted that they don't search you for php currency at the airport. I'm not in the mood or time to post the full story now, basically I've gotten away with relatively minor damages, could have been much worse, I sorted the problem pretty much PHP style. Nevertheless I suggest you do not do that, thank me later. Or if you do, at least hide it well

i'm just having some fun. making a joke. having a little fun at someone's expense. relax.

it was also an observation. 10 years ago online poker players were going to thailand for the rockstar lifestyle.

stay in nice condos, go to pattaya and drop big money, back when cute gogo girls would actually hit up spicy if they didn't find a customer. now those same girls could get as many short times as they could fit in between 8pm and 3am.

now it's vloggers, bloggers, influencers(wtf?), freelance writers, online marketers eking out an existence and wasting the best years of their life.

10 years ago the only competition was old, fat sexpats. no dating apps, virtually no girls had smartphones, no chinese, cheap cost of living, what a time to be in thailand.

i was left underwhelmed by manila nightlife (specifically burgos st). i thought manila in general was a great place for boozing (cheap, relaxed and variety of options), danger aspect was overstated, but i thought burgos st was overrated. one of the most overrated nightlife precincts in all of south-east asia. high prices and low quality. drinks were reasonably priced (ladies drinks not so much). the gogos were total tourist traps.

i thought edsa wasn't too bad with some cuter girls, bars better run, but was a little boring and you had to get in early.

royal sucked. there isn't really anything to expand on. drinks were relatively cheap compared to somewhere like insanity, so that's one positive. very multicultural crowd. women i wouldn't have ****ed for free.

it's natural to compare manila gogos to bangkok gogos. to take a girl out in manila costs virtually the same as you would pay in somewhere like crazy house or billboard. bangkok wins hands down.

the only aspect manila wins is the price of booze. beer was the equivalent of 120 baht in a place like kojax.

i'd rather pay 180 baht and sit on a drink in a place like crazy house or billboard than pay 120 baht in kojax. it was ****ing boring.

this brings me to angeles city.

the direct comparison is pattaya.

angeles city wins.

wins on cost, convenience, variety of options (day, night, bars, club, street, internet), attitudes, no chinese tour groups, no russians on a family vacation, and just more fun. gogos opening 10am was a revelation to me. soya day shift was better than the night shift.

only negative are all the koreans who treat mongering like a commercial fisherman casting a net along the ocean or a spear fisherman. it's a shooting fish in a barrel approach to whoremongering. they take the fun and sport out of it.

another negative is most of the girls have had children so if you like perky breasts and flat stomachs (who doesn't) you face an uphill task.

but given the number of bars, given the low cost of drinks (generally pay 75 baht at night in gogos, maybe 45 baht during the day), you will find a girl to your liking by the end of the night whether in a bar or somewhere like high society (which is much better than ibar).

close enough walk to sm mall which is convenient (nice mall with everything you could want).

expats were griping about how 5 years ago the gogo girls were 1000 per night (now around 3k), but the peso is a lot weaker than 5 years ago and it's still much cheaper compared to manila or thailand.

while not the gold standard in terms of girl quality, angeles city ticked all the boxes for me as a mongering/boozing destination.

i'm likely to include angeles city on my mongering rotation now, especially with clark airport expanding. at least until the novelty of angeles city wears off.

no-one ever said that it outright sucks. everything i read is positive. go to that nomadphilippines site and jspill is positive about places like kojax.

if the girls were 3k i might be positive about it like i am with angeles city, but they're almost clip joints.

trikes were 100 peso to go anywhere in angeles city. if you're just going up and down perimeter road just jump on a jeepney. 9 pesos.

going to dau bus station. jump on a jeepney. 9 pesos. just have to cross the busy road and hail one.

Anyone use bestonwardticket.com within the last month or so? Remember reading a while back in this thread some onward ticket site was useless now, wondering if its this one. Flying to Manila next week.

Well ofcourse they are bit sketchy and most that they do you can do by yourself(and even free)... I just booked ticket to Bangkok with thai airways and choosed to pay at airline office within 72hours, i got email right away(showing my flight details) and took photo of it and it was enough for my 'return' ticket(which i never paid)... But use at your own risk and better to do it on same day you flying(or at least within 72hours).
My only regret is that i was not able to get visa on arrival this time, arrived past midnight and immigration officer said that it took 4hours to process or something(last time it was less than 30minutes, so not sure if something has changed)

flyonward is the useless one, bestonwardticket still seems to work, a poster used it in the thailand thread a month ago

always best to stick the rules imo. if they want an outward ticket, you should have an outward ticket.

Nah Philippines immigration doesn't want one, it's just the airline at departure airport, they leave it to them. So rented ticket is fine

Just arrive at checkin a bit early and in the unheard of event your rented ticket gets denied by airline, buy a real one on your phone and queue up again.

Yep, Philippine immigration may ask a lot of funny questions or not ask anything depending on who you get but I never had them ask for an airline ticket. Granted I live nearby, dunno if that makes any difference

Past few times they’ve asked me when I’m leaving the country but never checked ticket ? (Maybe it’s on the system when airline asks you?)

But they been asking what I’m doing in philippines more and more recently. But just say girlfriend

Burgos is horrible. Got stuck in a 35 minute jam on the way back to COD as well. Never should have left the casino - the girlies they hired to dress as Santarinas looked 1000x better than the bargirls.

agreed.

in my review of manila, i forgot to mention the casinos. i thought they were great fun. plenty of blackjack tables.

a great point of difference compared elsewhere in the region. i know cambodia has casinos but they suck for blackjack. i remember nagaworld only having one blackjack table, no-one playing, and $25 minimum bet. 500 peso minimum even in okada which is 10 bucks. even had a couple of craps tables. free beer if you're playing. in asian style no-one tipped the cute waitress for their free beer.

but burgos gogos left me underwhelmed. i expected 8k long times in a country much poorer than thailand and with a much higher birthrate to attract some stunning girls to the business, but no such luck.
