Any coastal cities for surf and scuba? Any coastal cities for surf and scuba?

Hi all,

I currently live in Bogota, Colombia, which has been great for the last year but I'd like to move to somewhere coastal, ideally with the following characteristics.

Spanish speaking (I've come a fair way with Spanish and I'd like to press on with it)
Not ridiculously over travelled. I like that there aren't too many "gringos" in Bogota and it makes local people far more keen to interact.
Decent nightlife
Scuba a priority, but surf would be nice as well

Essentially Bogota on the coast haha. I'd love to stay in Latin America but I am open to moving further afield. I was thinking Mexico may be the place?

Any input would be greatly welcomed.

bay islands, honduras. some nice caye in belize - one of those would be your best bets for the best scuba diving. Galapagos as well, although the internet out there may not be grind-able. I didn't even try to. Amazing scuba and really good surf as well, one of the few places off the top of my head thats known for both.

It doesn't seem like you'd like PDC or cancun, but each are good locations to some good scuba at 'islas mujeres' or something right off the coast. I believe almost zero surf though.

for year round warm-water -- Peru and ecuador have the best surf in south, nica/costa/places in panama for central. Maybe something like puerto vallarta or puerto escondido in mexico would be perfect for ya, although I haven't been to either. Decent scuba up near santa marta but its hotttttt and no surf either as you probably know.

One problem is alot of good surf on pacific side, but alot of good scuba on carribean. puerto viejo in costa maybe would be a good mix?

anyways, hopefully thats a start for research for ya, con suerte parcero!
