Yea Brazil is so rad, lots of mixed feelings after staying in such a controversial place for awhile, but I'm still in that honeymoon phase and loving it. Itacoatiara does look really sick, and I'm currently stuck on where the F I should go for Carnavale, but more than likely won't be Rio.


Our first meal here which was amazing. $40 total for 4 people for a giant seafood platter that was more than enough food.

Rio has been awesome, been here for like 1.5 months now. Stayed with poker friends and old college buddy for first couple weeks, then bounced around hotels for a week, now I rented an apartment with some locals. Lots of chillin on the beach which is nice and fun, but I would feel halfway bad about it if I had any actual alternative productive things I wanted to be getting done. Been getting into bodysurfing lately which is surprisingly super fun, but wish I was somewhere I could be working on surfing.


they like fooseball here, but rarely see anyone playing real games. They play volleyball with their feet/heads though which is so rad to watch.

Finished portuguese on duolingo and can pretty confidently talk in portuguese now, reading and writing is also fine - but understanding is a completely different story. I never understand when people say simple words like internet, skate, grande, etc...just such crazy accents here. Almost all words end in a vowel and its a really funny playful language. Plan on watching a ton more TV in portuguese with english subtitles instead of the other way around. Also going on dates once a week where the person speaks no english. Slowly getting back into poker and will be going to LAPT Chile in March.

NYE was super fun, bummed myself out a bit over a girl I was sure I was hooking up with, then she kissed my friend with herpes and I was suuuuper over it. Me and my friend got asked to kiss some less than attractive girls as a favor or something and they both went insane/clingy. We tried running away to the water for a minute to breathe and they followed us which was insane, so we literally just started running down the beach. 2 million people on the beach so at that point it was easy to lose them, but we lost our other friends.

small idea of how many people celebrate. beach is packed for like 4 miles like this, everyone dancing and drinking and 20 mins of really cool fireworks.

I didn't have a girl to kiss at midnight and then 1 minute before 2 girls just come up to me and a buddy, mine was smokin, so that worked out well. Getting laid here seems really easy, tinder all day every day and if a girl doesn't have sex on the first date I'm honestly a bit offended by now. Only have 1 regular girl, the rest are either crazy or one night stands.



Jump over 7 waves at midnight for good luck, so after the fireworks end everyone heads to the ocean. Stayed up until 10am that day to watch the sunrise.



And this is where I live, called botafogo. 2km from the more famous beaches and a nice location, def the hipster part of town but its nice, I'm happy here for a month. Roommates are all cool and helping me out alot with the language. Don't think I'm fluent yet but good enough for me to count it as trilingual, which was always a goal of mine before I turn 30.

Finally started skating again which feel great, and I've got 2 weeks left in Rio before deciding on what to do next. Northern Brazil for a couple weeks for Carnavale and then go to Floripa afterwards...or go to Floripa for Carnavale and then decide what to do after. Want to buy a ticket for Chila (LAPT), Peru (aya), Colombia (meeting mom/have some other business there/new skatepark just opened). So my itinerary is nice and planned out for awhile. It's nice taking time off poker, but I'm still stuck on the internet for large portions of the day. Did 2 hour review session with a horse today, watching lots of RIO vids and my study group has our own website now we're posting video reviews on, watching cosmos on netflix, and facebook/skype/tindering my life away per usual.

Brazil girls are awesome. So chill and easy to put your wiener in, although way too many crazies in the mix. One girl last month came over after a 20 minute convo on tinder, and within the first couple minutes lets me knows that she is bi-polar and quit taking her meds last week and everything feels really off for her. I figured there was a 20% chance she was gonna murder me, she would start to relapse into these weird episodes of getting super angry and I'd have to calm her down. She brought over a bunch of weed and I was tripping out, like her face was morphing and I had no idea what she was saying. Haven't called her back. Have a nice little crew of one german 2p2er and 2 english guys to go out with, so overall life is good at the moment

alright I need to update. Will detail later but stayed in floripa for another month, then went to LAPT Chile for a week. I need to stop bluffing people south of the equator.
Although had a cool triple bluff with 77 on AK4A8 UTG v bb. Better with TJ/QT obv for a little blocker value of hands that would consider calling, but I figured he couldn't call any part of his range basically, maybe AT+, but every single hand he has besides a boat kinda can't call. I had nitty image, knew the villain was a spewy but decent player who would lose his stack if he lost, and yolo'd it, deciding on the flop I'm emptying the clip on most runouts. He folds A5. Realized later it was a friend of a friend, he laughed about it and agreed 'you're such a nit man, you have AQ minimum there!!' He's close to correct. I feel like I can just triple off here with basically 100% of my range that doesn't have showdown vs good players.
Moved back to Colombia. Spent a month just smoking weed as I broke my hip in brazil...or something. I'm **** old. Then LAPT panama, spent a lovely night in jail. Now mom came to visit so we're touristing around for 3 weeks. Then moving to Pereira for at least a month to skate, coach, grind - in that order.

In the Colombian amazon now, right on the border of Peru and Brazil. I can almost throw a rock at brazil from my room. Should have pics and whatnot from these travels, just wanted to jot something down in this thread since I forgot about it at the bottom of my list.

Was gonna move to argentina for summer to snowboard but just cancelled that due to being some of the most expensive season passes in the world. I don't even own a long sleeve shirt, so would also need an entire new wardrobe. Suggestions on where to go would be highly appreciated. Can't go to brazil for ~4 more months. Banned from ecuador. Peru weather kinda sucks atm. Venezuela a bit too dangerous, gonna wait at least 6 months. Costa rica or nica are options. Maybe random city in argentina like rosario or cordoba. maybe check out bolivia? And need to be in Uruguay by end of September, so not going to asia or anything.

Probably closing out the stable pretty soon as well, looking for a few more horses and focusing on them until we feel like some round 2 growth. Happy with everyone so far and a few old south american buddies are being reviewed now to maybe join which would be awesome. And some of what I've been up to:

In a nightclub but huge balcony overlooking carnavale with maybe 150 of these giant trucks passing by, every one has a full concert on top. Million+ people in the streets as well. didn't even get close to getting laid. oh well. 6pm till 6am party, I guess thats a normal friday for most of you but really destroys me and I have to plan out drinking slowly so I don't just blackout the first hour:

I'd say costa or nica. Buy a surfboard and enjoy the south swells. A lot cheaper than gearing up from scratch for snowboards and barrels are free.

drove a car there. signed a paper saying the car had 30 days in the country and its like $100 fine per DAY after. Car broke down and no mechanic worked on that brand. Gave it to a friend to sell and things got super latin and nothing ended up happening. Last I heard my cars overstay fine was 72k (like 2 years ago, and growing daily). Was told I need to contact a lawyer before coming back to the country to see if my name has a warrant or whatever on it from that. Was a fun adventure

And ya can't do flips on a surfboard! snowboarding my #1 for sure but it's for an 'all-in', all-day type of thing, and so expensive I only want to move somewhere to ride if I can get in like 50+ days for the season. It's a real toss up. Snowboarding is cool because you can do it basically everyday, don't need to wait for a swell and powder rules but surfing has getting barreled. Don't know if there is anything in the world that compares to a barrel.
I snowboard more than I surf because there are WAY more things I can do on a snowboard that I'll never be able to do on a surfboard.

and anyways, brazil for carnavale was insane. holy balls to the wall insane. I went a week early to chill and party, stayed in a sick hostel in the old town and had tons of fun. For 2 weeks leading up to carnivale they have giant block parties. One night it started pouring so hard and everyone just went full ****** dancing in the streets. okay I went full ******, but pretty sure other people were there too. They have these long ropes of cachaca liquor for like a dollar and it's gotta be 5 shots in each one, and the way money works it was easier to buy 3 at a time. weird my brazil pics above got links expired from fb, but anyways these things:



okay prob not 5 shots. I forgot how to party. anyways I woke up in plastic hostel mattress that was just a pool of water, and it was sunday so straight to the grind. felt like lipofund partying so hard and then grinding my face off hungover for 12 hours

Then went to this dumb argentinian and jewish island. was kinda cool but literally all jews and argies. which is fine but the jews in general travel in giant packs and give zero ****s about chilling with others (for the most part, the ones travelling alone are usually super cool - but giant culture of jews finishing military and then they go travel for 3-6 months and go insane). is it bad to say jews? kids from Israel. so anyways met some argie girls and kicked it with them. really insane deserted island party that they brought DJ and speakers to. Partied till sunrise and then caught a boat back to Salvador - Capital of carnivale in the world. Met some girl who went to high school a couple blocks from where I lived in college and she invited me out with some local friends. Right into the chaos. Just loud loud bang scream drum music permeating into your body, mannnn it's so intense! Giant giant street parties and you follow behind one of dozens of big rig trucks converted into slow moving concerts and filled to the brim with speakers. they say 1 or 2 million people every night, just going ape****. Got dehydrated one day and could barely walk. As hungover and crappy as you feel - everytime walking downstairs you hear the drums and people going crazy and just get those vibes pumping through your body to get out there and go harddddd!

Came to Pereira for a couple days to grind, couple more days with my mom here and then back to poker life! Really stoked on apartment here, nice penthouse in best location in the city, but thurs-sat it blasts music outside till 2 or 3am.

Moved into a nice place in Pereira. Mellow penthouse above main drag in the nice part of the city, living with some gringos, one of the guy's gf, and 5 dogs. Life is nice, feels like the most balanced I've had in quite some time. Wake up 11-noon, play poker from 1-6 or so, then go skateboard, go out, or cook a big meal. Doing tons of coaching and review sessions with horses, added 2 smaller stakes grinders who are both old friends from here in S. America I met briefly before and kept in touch with, can already see so much progress in student's games, so that's nice and a bit rewarding. Had my personal worst month ever (and playing smaller buyins, WTF?!?!)

Been going out with a couple chicks. One I prob posted about years ago who didn't put out, but seems extremely riled up now and was telling me all the fetishes she wants to do with me... some of which I am less than keen about but whatever, let it flow. She also said she wants to get high and bang out all day because she always heard it was nice. haha very shy girl who seems fed up with being so shy and not getting laid. Another webcam model chick who is super cute, but also has a buzzed head and is tall. odd. 18 and cool chick, into psychedelics and smoking a lot of weed so a good hangout/**** buddy that could turn into. She also has a ton of wigs (always wanted to bang a girl with blue hair, and any neon hair really)

Lots of robberies/murders lately around here. Mostly in medellin but here as well. robberies are mostly harmless although my gf just spent 5 nights in the hospital because her hands got really stabbed up from a botched mugging attempt. Prob 10+ others in the last month that I've heard about directly from ex-pats in medellin. All murders had to do with guys mingling in girls/drugs. Economy down, but I guess government and FARC (paramilitary) signed a cease-fire agreement last week, so maybe things will get better in the next year. Whatever, doesn't affect me much unless I'm hanging out with gringos who are more likely targets.

That's about all. This is the best skatepark I've been to in my life probably here, and it's nice to be back and have so many friends or randoms that remember me, oyeeeeee gringo!! Got a bit hurt my first couple days and was a bit hurt for go skateboard day as well, so couldn't really rip all day as hard as I wanted but whatever, everyone here is so good anyways I would have had to jump down some huge **** to really win any of the best-trick contests throughout the day, and wasn't feelin 100%. Will get some footage soon.

yea I'm paying 800k per month ($270), but total rent for this 3 bedrooms + large attic room + maids room is 1.6 million, so basically me and another guy pay rent, the owner covers all utilities, furnishes the place, etc...and his gf lives here for free under the veil of keeping the place clean. Some funny developments lately I might write about soon

We used to have an Airbnb ad up for when owner is travelling or someone wants to crash on the air mattress in attic (nice room, just weird staircase and can't get furniture up there)... but it's down atm, so I don't have pics.

Off to the skatepark, and medellin in a couple days to meet my college roomie. Renting a penthouse during a 2 week non-stop party in the city - feria de las flores which I've mentioned before. hyyyped on that! Me AND my stable had a good sunday for **** once, hope the binks keep coming!

^^ haha could have been - went skating last thursday and I'm kinda a reckless dickhead skating from lleras down to the metro, just mashing thru traffic and people - honestly one of my favorite parts of skating. Went to the new envigado skatepark tonight and was bummed on it, small and slippery. Did a kinda nice front feeble down a small handrail though, felt good as that trick is so awkwardly hard for me.

Time has come to figure out wtf I'm doing next. Round 2 ayahuasca and then hang out in Lima for a couple weeks. Stay in Medellin (seems suboptimal but it is a good place to get laid, which I need more of in my life atm I feel). Back to Pereira for another month, or just get out of here and make my way to Uruguay via Paraguay and/or Argentina. Doesn't seem like sailing is gonna happen - I need to start looking earlier in the summer as hurricane season is coming soon and way less boats are cruising around the carribean.

Not losing a ton this month, so that's a nice change. Not sure why I've been so into this 5-6 hour MTT grind lately, but really want to start dedicating more time to preparing food in advance, staying away from tinderellas, and not dorking around until the wee hours of the morning so I am able to put in 8+ hour days. I've been working with horses and doing reviews a lot, have had friends, gf's, family visiting me 'too' much, which leads to no grinding or making sure I'm done by 6pm so I can be sure that I can go out or go on with social stuff, get back to people, do HH reviews, cook..whatever.

WCOOP time, added a couple more sites, been punting all the monies, not even 20% of the way to my yearly profit goals, BTC hacked, been studying my ass off... all reasons upon reasons to spend a bit more time clicking buttons for a little bit longer each day.

Been in 7 countries so far this year and all that travel time kinda kills me. Came down to argentina for a cheap place to grind for awhile and WTF, it's expensive as hell all of a sudden!? damn inflation and black market collapse. oh well. Also trying to stop spending a dime to save a penny. I swear I'll spend a week to find an apartment that equals one day's poker profit cheaper than just booking the first nice place I see.
