^^LOL! actually ya, i will try to post more pics in here; maybe right now...

One thing I saw seems you get fairly worked up on losing days, or over common bad beats.
101% agree. i am not used to having losing months. jan was rough, but at least i wasnt down a huge amount. believe it or not, i have come sooo far with my mental attitude, but i know i will never be at the optimum. i will just try to continue to improve.

was up $1100 two days ago, and dropped $400 yesterday. i will be moving all my play further into the evening. my chosen sites are really all rock gardens earlier, except bodog, and for some reason i am not doing well there currently. only up around $100 for the entire month there i think. thanks to 1000nl alone, i am doing overall very well, but i may be losing on the lower limits still this month.

we will be moving today about halfway to new orleans (around 100mi from it). it is really rainy and cold here, which sucks, and has contributed to my staying inside all day yesterday and jumping on the tables early! here's to hoping we dont get mugged in NO; maybe they will be too happy to worry about that due to their superbowl win.
does it really take an hour to read this entire thread already?!

this is me with my two best friends! (mandi and an open container) in galveston, tx for a mardi gras parade.

since im on to posting photos, i thought i would share one of my big passions in life: formula 1. this is one of my favorite times of the year...the offseason is drawing to a close, and all the teams are presenting their new cars for the upcoming year. here is the virgin vr-01. virgin racing is a new team for 2010; its nice to see (hopefully) four new teams make the grid this year, including USF1, a team from america!

about as disappointing as a +$1300 night can be, but i guess gotta be happy with the bottom-line.

uneventful 60mi drive from houma, la to NEW ORLEANS, la. last night was the real carnival i think in downtown houma. people were all out on their front lawns just partying and drinking. we walked the party route; its very cool to be in what i have come to call "free form" land: drinking in public is all good, even right in front of cops; dogs off leash often; people just doing whatever, but not bothering others. guess what washington (state)? civilization did NOT come apart at the hinges, just because i had an open container! i have three "open container" citations in wa state over the past 15 years or so, in case you were wondering.

we are paying $40/night for the next three nights to stay in the northeast part of new orleans. we arent too far from the french quarter. i parked on purpose next to a rented rv populated by about 6 college guys. these are the first young people we have seen in one of the places we have stayed. the next few days might be good times. watching the daytona 500 right now...

Good Times...love the "FreeForm" title! As a "future" libertarian, I certainly agree with these actions:

"Your right to swing your fist ends right where the other man's nose begins"...hope I got that quote right because I love it!

Anyway...Take pics and update the 9-5ers living through this experience. Behave yourself with those coeds...

how is wifey as a beerpong/beirut partner?

can dudes be "coeds"?
anyway, they are all dudes, but seem like nice guys. i always get along with people younger than me anyway. there were seriously about 3 cases at least of keystone light empties littering their area when we first pulled in. this is right down my alley; i partake in natural light almost every night.
you can be a libertarian right now! i have voted that way in (i think?) the past two presidential elections.

tonight has the potential to be the best night of the trip so far. there is something like 19 dudes sleeping in a 29' rv next to us, who we have met. we are going to head to bourbon street with these dudes, and it is going to be epic!

i am drunk.

i hope the daytona 500 ends soon...

Prediction for the night: Mrs. MAHP's doesn't return to the RV and proceeds to get gangbanged by the 19 college bro's.

I thoguht taking nights off while in LA. during February was against the rules. Don't play poker hungover -- it is harder.

it probably is against the rules, but its just the way it is. i drink enough as it is. just spent all day on burboun street, and had a nice cajun meal. apparently this is one of the best years on record, prolly due some to the superbowl win.

Hey Captain Kirk! I was one of the guys staying in the RV next to you in New Orleans. Just wanted to let you know that you are now a legend and we have told just about everyone back in Syracuse about you. Good luck the rest of the way and enjoy the rest of your stay in NO.

haha, so awes. every dude that was next to us was the man!! best night of the trip so far. im so glad to have been able to partake in that experience.

we went out for fat tuesday...guess what? met two dudes, lol!! its all good. i think dudes are just better than chicks for some reason. i had a drunked/educated talk with this guy about the confederate flag, and actually got a perspective that i had never heard before. that is EXACTLY what i live for on this trip.

+$1000 prior to going out tonite, which obv set a good tone. ai with tptk AQo vs fl draw that didnt hit. in those spots i am now shocked when they DONT hit, which sucks.

huge line after-hours at mickey-d's. we head to bk. bk chick says "blah blah" (no possible way to understand her), but it appears that they are closed. 4 cars plus us leave (under the sign that says "open 24 hours"), and every car pulls in to wendy's. they are open, and im glad we went there (for more reasons than the $1 gift card we had). now im eating broccoli with blu cheese dressing.

one night in biloxi, which i REALLY liked. the casinos are always fine, but im talking the actual town. the gulf coast is really a great place. it looks like biloxi was hit hard by katrina and/or others. lotsa vacant coastal lots...
long drive to prattville, al (near mongomery). the rv developed two problems over the past couple days, i guess at the best time possible: the gas guage is malfunctioning, and the thermostat isnt working well (so we cant turn on ac or the lp heater sometimes). these are problems that arent really too big, but we spent the night in front of an rv repair place, and this morning they went to work on it.

its nice to see wifey's brother and his wife. we will be here for 1-2 weeks. time for a little grinding.

ugh. the thermostat repair is going to be around $200, but to repair the gas guage we would have to replace the entire instrament cluster: total $1000 almost. damn. i think we will hold off on the gas guage.

^^thx!

this month is shaping up as one of my best in a while, despite it being the shortest. have been mostly just playing on the laptop @ 2 or so tables, but will set up the big system today and maybe get some hands in over the next week.

we will be in prattville, al through the 1st. its been interesting to see the birthplace of civil rights (church that mlk jr preached at, and place where rosa parks started the bus boycott). also got to take a very interesting tour through the alabama state capital, where i found they dont like "separation of church/state" much! lotsa confederate memorials, which make me slightly uncomfortable, but i guess its history. we are certainly in "the south" now, i will say that. went to dinner last night with my bro-in-law's wife's parents, and was warned to "not drop the f-bomb" (not that i would have anyway). it was hilarious to talk to this couple for sure though, and see the differences between us. havent tried collard greens, grits, fried green tomatoes, or fried okra yet...
America by RV...powered by poker Quote
02-23-2010 , 03:11 PM
Should probably try more of the southern cuisine while you are there. Grits should be easy to knock off the list any random morning. I recommend fried okra for sure. Any vegetable fried tastes better.

Good to see you hanging with some of my brethren from up here in Syracuse.

I assume we get a nice monthly summary once you finish crushing internetz poker for the month.
America by RV...powered by poker Quote
02-23-2010 , 04:08 PM
if people want a summary, i have no problem providing one. one thing on that subject nagging on my mind though is that since most of my play is on the cake network, i have no "prove-able" graphs or amounts (such as ptr). i know that in many situation on this forum, people who cannot prove amounts are often not believed. i would rather just not post anything than get into a situation like that...

the syracuse kids were very cool, except that they said my "accent" sounded canadian! on the travesty!

Great TR MAHPs! I've done a few summer trips like this for 2-3 months but always wanted to try longer ones. I always boondocked and never stayed in a campground. Think you could give us a rough monthly budget you use? You mentioned 3-4 thousand a month in expenses. 700-800 in campground fees/month? 100-200 in gas/month? 300-400 for groceries/month (not including eating out)? Am I in the ballpark on those? That leaves around 2000-2500 for discretionary spending each month. Would you consider fulltiming if you can cover expenses with just poker? Thanks, and I hope you are having a blast!

Garon
