Overall how would you compare traveling costs in Columbia compared to Mexico?

Regarding Peru: If you're only going to be in Peru for 2-3 weeks I'd suggest shortening your time in Lima and spending more time elsewhere (specifically the Cusco / Pisac / Sacred Valley area), and/or scheduling your time in Lima at the end of your trip. If you do decide to check out Lima, feel free to PM me for some great airbnb recommendations (Cusco as well). Two suggestions:

The VIP seats on the tourist bus company Cruz del Sol are ridiculously comfortable--full recline, TVs for each seat, etc.

Without question the highlight of my trip was doing an off-road (dirt bike) motorcycle tour of the Sacred Valley and a second motorcycle tour of Colca Canyon near the city of Arequipa.

Well, to be fair I've only been in Bogotá and Medellín so far. Bogotá is ok, but I hate the weather and CDMX is just way better. Medellín I could see myself living in, but Poblado while interesting, was gringo central and I don't like being around too many dudes that look like my dad who are only there to bang 20 year olds. Laureles is pretty cool, but even still I can think of about 7 neighbourhoods I'd rather live in in CDMX.

I'm more excited to check out el Eje Cafetero, Tayrona, Valle do Cocora, etc. They all look pretty awesome and I think where Colombia really shines.

Regarding travel costs. They are roughly even. The nice areas of Bog/Med are similar to CDMX in terms of costs for an AirBNB (which I use 100% of the time, so I can't comment on the hostel or hotel scene). Super easy to find a breakfast or menu of the day place for $3-5 in either place. Entertainment options seem evenly priced as well. I haven't noticed a difference at all in costs. If you visit Cancún or places like that in México, then it's a different story.

Both cities are really cheap for air travel almost anywhere. The thing I miss in Colombia compared to México is that it's really hard to take buses anywhere. Everything is way up in the mountains so usually you're looking at a minimum 5 hour trip even to nearby places. From CDMX, there are probably 20-30 really interesting towns/cities to visit all within a 5 hour bus trip.

Yes, I'm thinking about doing about a month in Perú. Will maybe do a max 1 week in Lima and then move on. I really want to spend a lot of time in Cusco, Arequipa, and around Lago Titicaca. Usually I've been spending $25-40 per night, so nothing too extravagant, but usually you can get a pretty nice 1BR in a solid area in Colombia for that price.

Do you know anything about Iquitos or some of the other Amazon areas? I'd like to check it out, but nothing too extreme. I saw a 4d3n package for Iquitos that looked interesting.

I'm in that exact same price range for airbnbs as yourself, have great recommendations for Lima and pretty good ones for Cusco.

I didn't travel to any of the Amazon areas so can't give specific recommendations. Based upon where you wrote you wanted to spend time (Cusco, Arequipa, and Lago Titicaca) the only downside to Iquitos is it's so far away. Manu and Tambopata area would be geographically much closer to where you'll be. My understanding is that certain areas might be better (or worse) depending upon whether it's dry or rainy season when you'll be there, so weather might be a factor to be considered.

Are you planning on experiencing ayahuasca or doing a San Pedro ceremony while in Peru?

Yah, I should probably look at an Amazon experience closer to the areas I'm staying to make travel much easier.

I hadn't thought about Ayahuasca or San Pedro at all. I briefly remember reading about it in one of your TRs. I think I remember you mentioning that you really need a strong meditation practice to get the most out of it. Is that correct? Unfortunately, I've lapsed a bit on the meditation front and have probably only managed about 10 sittings of 15 minutes each over the last 3 months. Do you still think it would be safe/worth it in my case?

Nah, I did a lot of "research" on a forum I found. Basically a ton of TRs and reviews of experiences with FB links. That's how I found the girl to pick me up from the airport and the 2nd girl.
