Would appreciate feed on this situation from a WSOP tourny a week ago. No-limit, Texas Holdem.

I'm in a middle position with AK offsuit.
Blinds are 150-300
I have $12,000 in chips, larger than tourny avg of $9,000

1. Under the gun makes it $600
2. Next player makes it $1,800
3. I think about it and finally call.

So the first question is, was this the right move?

The 6 players behind me all fold as expected. So it's now heads-up.

The flop is 4c, Ad, Kd,

She bets $4,000 and has about $4,000 left after the bet. I have her covered.

What do you do?

you don't give enough information. please give everyone's stack size in the hand including the people behind you who have yet to act preflop.

as played, on the flop, why is there a question as to what to do? are you going to really see this flop & fold? shove and cry when they show you a set of aces/kings.

I can see both folding and raising PF depending on the players involved/stack sizes. As played on the flop, just get it in.

actually i realized the 3bettor must have 9800 to start hand roughly. i definitely think i can fold here, unless you have some read that the 3bettor preflop will 3bet light here. live players tend to flat way more often than online players and i would tend to give them more credit for KK/AA here despite the fact that u have one of each in ur hand.

Without reads, this seems like a real easy fold preflop.

Obviously get it in on this flop.

yeah, pre flop a 3x re-raise often means KK+, but since you have AK you have to discount that a little; but the 3x re-raiser has got to have a big pair or maybe AQ? Unless you have a read that they're out of line, fold. But AK wants to see all five cards and you've got fold equity so 2nd best line is push.

fold >> ALL-IN >>>>>>>>> smaller raise >>>>>>call

flop is obvious.

preflop all-in or fold.

on the flop obv push and hope that the other player doesnt have K-K or A-A

I don't care about bet sizes or whatever. UTG raise, UTG+1 reraise ---->>>> fold AK.

Don't you think this is discounted a bit in a WSOP prelim event? I would have trouble laying down AK here.

ya, i was thinking the EXACT opposite

I would never flat call in this spot, either push it or fold and i would lean more towards a fold here.

fold pre, as played have to get it all in on the flop
07-04-2008 , 07:33 PM
fold preflop against standard live player

given their probable range, you are either going to flop an A/K and win a small pot, or lose all of your chips

how is the flop a question?

This is live.

I like flatting the flop.

No reason to shove live unless villain understands what we understand. If villain does not then I don't like the flat pre, and if they do, then I don't like the flat pre. They're folding everything you beat except Ax hands if you jam the flop, and its live so it's most likely that they're not paying that much attention to your stack size so i feel flatting flop is > shoving, even though stack sizes warrant an obv shove online.

i was wondering if i was the only one. i just flat the flop with the understanding that i am just not folding.

lol liveaments.

they will fold QQ or JJ if you jam flop, but may try one last time if you just call, since you are obv on a 'flush draw'
