This is more of a theory argument pertaining to mtt strategy.
The argument:
Lets say you are at the first stage of a 10k event deep and long blinds, a tourney that relies more on skill then luck to win. You have a 200bb starting stack and 90 minute blinds. First hand you are dealt QQ and raise it utg to 5bb's total (small ball pohka!). It is folded to BB who shoves for 200bb's total. In the process of shoving the villian shows AK soooted, do you snap shove because "ZOMG im a 4% fav and 5bb committed!" or do you fold because "This tourney is a skill based game, no need to flip here".
Call or fold? Which is more profitable at this stage in the long run as far as overall ev is concerned?
i dunno-- i personally play for 1st... and you need to win huge flips to accumulate chips in a mtt with thousands of people to win... HOW CAN YOU FOLD KNOWING YOU HAVE THE BEST HAND? think about it.... what would you do
protential?
i believe this situation was talked about in bill chen's book, and pretty much the conclusion was there are very few fields and very rarely talented players such that giving up a 57-43 edge for a double up opportunity to be correct
depends what else there is to do besides play poker. if online ez call i guess. if ur baller and cash games are running prob call. if ur nitty with ur last 10k fold.

if ur nitty with your last 10K wtf are you doing there?
small sample size anecdotal evidence: I didn't take big risks (or put myself in a position to be forced into do so) during the early stages in any of the tournaments i've made a deep run in.
Lmao at getting it in as a 3 to 1 dog when you're not even getting 2 to 1 on a call. Learn some pot odds, genius.
