no dynamics. We'd only been at table for about 15 hands prior to this one and nothing notable over that particular stretch.

We're getting the right price for a breakeven call vs. 66+, AQo+, AJs+. I would think with his laggish stats and the BvBvB nature of hand, that he could be slightly wider than this, no?

Re: ***HSMTT QUICK CHECKUP THREAD***

We have 43% vs AJ/99 and need 39 for a +cEV call. Take into account that that is a ridic tight range and that he's occassionally 20k/calling QQ+ and, even taking ICM into account, you have a ridic easy call vs anyone competent, let alone vs the actual villain (28/25/12%).

that was my take, which was why I posted as a check-up and why I called. Thought ICM might swing it a bit more the other way than you suggest though.

would be interested on turb's views, who was at the table as to any dynamics I am missing.

Re: ***HSMTT QUICK CHECKUP THREAD***

We'd need exact payouts and stacks at the other table but we bust 0% of the time and bust someone else about half the time, so I don't think ICM will have a big impact in this spot.

sup Pablo.
Competence is ability to take break-even spots vs randoms at 2ft or shove cool ranges like AJ/99 or induce 4betting for 1/3 of your stack in your opinion?

do you know 4bet shoving AJ vs random readless is bad. why would he fold 88 but shove AJ?
Ridic tight range, whats good range to 4bet shove vs randoms then which shows profit?

in wash's defense, the one sentence missing from my original post was BB's stats (which I edited and didn't state reason for editing because in a rush), which wash may not have picked up on by the time he originally replied.

although that becomes irrelevant as to wash's question at 11:10.

Question: When constructing these types of ranges, in what situation do we expect a villain to be more pair-heavy and in what situation do we expect a villain to be less pair-heavy?

The default for me is to just try out a few percentages on pstove to find the breakeven price and then see what we would expect villain to do with hands on the margins. But it seems like, at times, people construct ranges that differ from the standard p-stove percentages...so perhaps that isn't the best exercise.

Re: ***HSMTT QUICK CHECKUP THREAD***

I still stick to my 1st reply and if you haven`t 3bet a lot its an easy fold. [in rare cases bb would 4b-shove if you made up hh.]

Re: ***HSMTT QUICK CHECKUP THREAD***

$365 WSOP Circuit NLHE, Harrah's Philly

First Hand of Day 2 - 92 players left, 72 Cash

Average Stack = 60K
Average Stack at table = ~90K, one short stack (on button this hand @ 16K)
My stack = 45K
Blinds = 2000/1000/300
My image = early 30s/white/wearing jeans and button up shirt

First hand of Day 2 (table 9 handed full of unknowns), I pick up 99 UTG and make it 5K. Folds to button (white guy ~45 yrs old) who looks at his cards says "I guess I have to go all in" and puts his chips in the middle.

Action back on me closing the action for 11K more to win 26.7K (2.43:1).

Folding I'm left with 40K (20BBs)
Call and win I'm up to 66K (33BBs)
Call and lose I'm down to 29K (14.5BBs).

Re: ***HSMTT QUICK CHECKUP THREAD***

In game I snapped and was shown AA. Was thinking whether the speech was enough to make someone consider folding. Sounds like no.
