You deserve to sit out a round for tanking 3-5 minutes on this hand...

This is a fold but if you are 3 betting a hand like 44 here im assuming its to 5-bet jam right ? otherwise its ridiculous to 3 bet this hand in the 1st place ....just wondering if this was your plan because you never mentioned this in original post .... a la joe cheong

Not sure how to quote yet but easier?

'This is, to me, the perfect time to be flatting pre with 44. (vs big stack slow structure etc)

In either case, fold to the shove.'

First, OP is getting 1.26-1. This is not that huge an overshove. Also, villain was UTG 6-max, which is real different from an UTG raise at a full table.

I think villain has AK/AQ a very large percentage of the time. AK seems like the natural hand to make this play with. However, you still can't call with 44. You need 44% equity to be cEV+, and I don't see how you get that. There are also big ICM considerations, but they may be somewhat compensated for by the value in becoming tournament leader if you win.

As for the initial 3-bet, I think small pps are awful to do this with. First of all, you are deep enough to call and play for a set, as well as using position, so you lose some value here.

Also, you get flatted a lot, and this is tricky to play the 84% or so of the time you don't flop a set or straight draw. With a suited gapper, you can semibluff with a draw.
lol missed this gold

Whats the deal with threads with pretty straightforward hands lasting 6 years? A couple of them on front page of HSMTT.

Its basically a breakeven cEV call if his range is any pair, any broadway (18%). How could this possibly be a call with your stack size right now?

The way that you think the "front page" works, probably isn't how it works.

I realize this thread is an old classic, but it's actually a good 3bet albeit probably accidentally.

Re: Big stacks collide in $5,000 WSOP 6 max tourney. Wait for a better spot?

Fold wahh!!!! Flat preflop imo, position, bigger stack, playable hand, image, you got more info on him than he does on you - a lot of things going in your favour.

I think you should realise/consider though for future spots, even if you are ahead or +ev chips vs his jamming range (marginal/optmistic!) you may well be giving away money to everyone else in the tournament by risking such a big % of your stack so light in this situation.

Edit: OK I just realised this thread is 6 years old. "missed this gold" lol Deo ! Elky was chippy eh?
