ITM with 4 shootout tables left. 2 players advance from each table to make final table. I've been fairly active as has David who is immediately to my right.
I've been doing a fair amount of raising and re raising; once against him and he folded pre draw. I haven't showed down any trash though, showing Ak and AQ both times I went to SD.
A few hands previous he raised and I flat the button with QcJc; BB calls. Two checks, and I make a little over half pot size bet on 9 8 2 flop with 2 diamonds. BB folds and David shoves 200k into the 50k pot. I fold.
Hand in question is couple hands later with 200k effective. Now playing 6 handed. He opens UTG to 18k at 3000/6000/500. I pop it to 49 with TT. Folds back around to him and he thinks for a while and flats. Flop is 8 6 2 two clubs.
He checks. What now?

Protect your hand. I assume you got check-raised, called, and lost; it's what I would have done, too.

k so I guess he had the AA and gg'd you. It's 6 handed you played fine as I do not like just flatting PF at all, but now you have to get it in. Bet like 55-60k/call imo. Vs some players you can c/f this flop but maybe like 1% of them tops. If he's making 4x pot sized shoves he's probably not doing anything terribly sneaky preflop but who knows.

either jam pre or do what you did, doesnt really matter imo
if hes more prone to spew then what you did is better

steicke plays pretty crazy - He will have a pretty loose range for both opening and calling your 3bet. I could easily see him c/cr on the flop with a very wide range - particularly as you too have been battling it out a lil already. In this spot I would be bet/calling a shove pretty happily.

He plays bat**** insane, especially in smaller events like this. He seems to get drawn to my table at every single EPT for some reason so I actually have quite a lot of history on him. I think his 3bet calling range here is almost his whole opening range as he doesn't like folding and imo doesn't 4bet bluff shove much either. So I would definitely do what you did and just bet-call flop, bet like 50k and he'll think you may fold and jam with air.

bet 50k so he thinks he has fold equity and call a shove...from the information given, you cant fold after putting in over half your stack

Against David you should bet/call 100% times. Overpair is nuts against him.
