French pros mostly live in London... especially you can't officially endorse a sponsor in France if this sponsor is a poker room.

In what city are you ? Is poker your only source of income ?

How is the tournament raking in Aviation Club? I was looking for coming tournaments in www.pokerineurope.com but there is no rake after buy-ins for tournemnets in Aviation.
Like it is € 2000 + rake 200 in other locations (Casinò Ca' Noghera etc.), but there's just buy in € 2000 and no rake in Aviation tournaments.
Is there any rake in tournaments? Included in buy-ins maybe or collected hourly?

Just going to Paris for a few days.

I hear I can find some games in Cercle Wagram and ACF

How much is the rake for 5/10euro cash games?

I hear that in Deauville for EPT the tax is 4% uncapped. This is scary.

Any other places in Paris with 5/10euro tables?

Thx,
Valentin

i am heading to Europe in June for a wedding and plan to go to Paris and then to Nice or Monte Carlo. (sorry dont speak French only English)

Couple of Questions:

1. Is Monte Carlo worth the extra $ to go there
2. Would i have just as good a time in Nice and it looks like the games spread in Nice are smaller stakes than Monte Carlo is this true.
3. Do Casinos in Nice and Monte Carlo also charge membership fees?

I unfortunately will be on a limited bankroll, so will have to worry about what I put on the table.

oh and 4. are souviner chips fround upon like could I take a e$5 chip with me when I leave the casinos ACF or do they see that as stealing, etc....I dont want to be talking to cops in a foreign country to be honest but I collect chips from around the world.

Thanks

Rake is described on their site, just check it, AFAIR, at 5/10 it's 25E per hour...

My wife and I will be going to Paris in two weeks. Not alot of time for poker but we would like to visit a casino for an evening. Is there one that does not have yearly dues? We are looking for a quiet night out and some table games. Thanks

In france, casino can only exist in places that have spas (spring water of some sort) so it can't be in Paris.

I found this casino nearest Paris
http://uk.ville-enghienlesbains.fr/h...ding15759.html

Here is the map
http://maps.google.fr/maps?hl=fr&sou...,0.194664&z=13

It's about 14 km from Paris, so 25 minutes in a taxi...

Hey guys,

first of all thanks for creating this tread, very informative

how strict dress code at ACF is?
average stack sizes at 5-5 5-10 10-20 to the end of the night?
05-21-2010 , 01:56 AM
You need business shoes , no sports shoes at the ACF
05-27-2010 , 11:53 AM
ACF requires a membership card now.
05-27-2010 , 12:21 PM
- No sport shoes
- No hoody
- No t-shirt ?

http://www.aviationclubdefrance.com/faq

Une tenue correcte est exigée : les chaussures de sport (baskets), les T-shirts et les jeans déchirés ne sont pas acceptés. Le port de la chemise et des chaussures de ville est obligatoire.

A shirt and business shoes are required
TShirts are banned

Jeans seem to be okay if they are clean and not torn down

I heard a new law passed in France that made pokerstars no longer operating there, any truth?
06-25-2010 , 10:55 PM
Actually the long version is more like that a new regulation passed that only allows online poker that licensed with the french government would be allowed to operate for tax purposes. But it would only be open to those living in France so they can't play players outside of the border. That's what I heard, someone correct me if I am wrong. Worry about what would happen in the US if similar regulation passed. Why can't they just leave us alone?
06-26-2010 , 05:42 AM
What hapens is that now there are going to be TWO pokerstars, a little bit like it is in Italy

First a pokerstars.fr with extra rake for the calculation-challenged persons who can't recognize when a game cannot be beat because of the rake, or who just don't mind being losing players, and then there is our goood old pokerstars.com for the rest of us.

If your account is not French you should be able to keep using pokerstars.com even from France if you can prove (utility bills) that your main residence is not in France.
In any other case... bad luck but you may try using a vpn to disguise your IP

Apparently FTP.fr just opened, but I don't know about the rake.

It'll be interesting to see what they decide to do after the PS.fr fiasco...

I changed the tittle of the thread so it is only about live poker.
You will find info about online poker on other threads.
