Went Macho Man Randy Savage on the deadlifts today. Not sure if it was a good idea or not, but I just felt that I was nowhere near failure on my last warm-up set. And while 295 was heavy, it was still pretty do-able so I'm not too concerned.
Squats are getting heavy, and I'm basically at 1.5x my BW on them, so I'm probably going to scale back to 5lb jumps on them from here on.
Bench was still pretty easy, probably have a few more 10lb jumps left on it.
Just wanted to post some encouragement! Nicely done I'm greedily hoping my SS trajectory is pretty similar to yours. Make some jaw-dropping linear gains, then do some cutting, then back to the gains. Thanks for inspiration and good luck!
Missed a couple days, decided to switch the MWF for my workouts, as 2 workouts each weekend kinda sucked.
My form on my squats felt like ****, so I'm going to do a bit of a reset and work hard on my form, will probably post some videos sometime next week when I get a chance to tape some sets.

Doing a bit of a cut, as I'm following Lyle's advice of small bulks followed by small cuts.
Squats:
3x5x265lbs
Press:
3x5x125lbs
Rows:
3x5x165lbs
Finally decided to set a goal for myself fitness wise. As mentioned in the original post I played football in Highschool, and my University recently started a Football team, they're not in an official University league, they're in a less competitive league called the "Atlantic Football League" so the chances of making the team aren't really that slim. So I'd like to get myself into the best shape I can for try-outs this coming August.
So with that, I'm trying to decide what my best course of action would be. I played Full Back and OLB in Highschool, so I'm thinking I'd like to try to get myself to at least 200lbs by August.
My concern isn't really weight-lifting though, as I think SS is a far superior program to what a lot of people who will be trying out will be on. My main concern is how to go about working on the more skill related aspects of my position. I'm sure I could find some decent sources on the webs for different drills to do, but I was wondering if anyone had any experience in this area that could offer some advice?

Good luck man I have some friends on the UNB team. You go to Dal?
Ok so, exams, Christmas Break and all other various excuses are over. Back to work.
Workout 2/1/2010
Squats:
3x5x225lbs
Bench:
3x5x135lbs
Deadlifts:
1x5x245lbs
Figured I'd start back up fairly light, I'm getting pretty good at this whole starting up after a break business. -_-.
Not again!
Everything felt good and felt great to get back into the gym. Month's goal is to hit every work-out, once I'm back into the routine of things I'll start worrying about benchmarks.
Almost missed the last rep on my third set of squats, was in a rush to get done before "primetime" hours, so I probably didn't give myself enough of a breather between my 2nd and 3rd set. I ain't worried!
