Did some tree work yesterday at a friends house. Sweat my ass off in the morning sun. Also I had a short shoot around at the park at dusk. Swished a few free throws and a 3 pointer. Shot was pretty consistent considering that I had not shot in a long time.

Weighed in this morning at 209.8 lbs.

Have you done a proper study of the bible? Also of Politics, World events, music, movies, television even sporting events. Watch any opening ceremonies?

Never studied the Bible. I don’t need a book to shape my views on spirituality.

I don’t watch tv. It’s 99% bullshit.

Politics? They’re all corrupt as ****.

Movies are ok. I really enjoy caper flicks.

its been too hot to do anything fun. i don't really like july and august.

i took down a 3 foot by 15 foot flat doggy ramp last weekend at my sisters house. the dog was elderly and couldn't do stairs anymore. long story short, the dog was laid to rest a few months ago and i offered my services. rip doggy. she was a sweetheart.

so now i have a bunch of scrap wood and i'm turning it into a skateboard ramp for my niece and nephew. nothing huge just a small beginner ramp. 18 inches tall, 6 feet wide, 10 feet long. just small enough to fit into the back of my truck. i have cut the transitions and procured two 6 foot steel pipes for coping. just need about 20 pieces of 2x4 that are 6 feet long, as well as the finish plywood. should make for a fun early christmas.

besides taking down the ramp, boring yardwork, which included moving a lot of wood chips, fixing a fence that the wind took down, etc etc, I haven't really broken a sweat in the past month and I don't feel the least bit bad about it.

my weight has fluctuated between 208 pounds and 210 pounds pretty steady over the past month.

mental health hasn't been very good, but hey it's almost never very good for me so i call that par for the course.

I’ve been golfing a lot lately. My best round was an honest 80 on par 68 course.

Weighed in today at 212.6 fully clothed.

I played 18 walking without breaking a sweat today.

My body finally demanded a break from golfing. Slightly pulled upper left quad. I’ll live.

Took a rest day Sunday. Did some warm up yesterday morning and quad felt ok enough to play 18 with a cart. Was a very nice round with two older gentlemen. Hit good long shots but struggled around the greens.

Just did some semi intense warm up and zero pain today. Got 1120 tee time. Gonna walk it today.

I just walked 18 holes and feel pretty good physically.

This is my complete golf warm up(recommendation is welcome):

Front to back leg swings
Side to side leg swings
Forward and backward step overs
Few high knees
Reach back stretch/hug yourself stretch 2 or 3 times.

Then I start swinging two long irons at once.

Weighed in today wearing sneakers pants and a sweatshirt at 213 lbs even. Had to tuck in my T-shirt and polo yesterday because pants were loose at tightest belt notch. I’m never going back to size 34 waist pants because the leg room is so much more comfortable in 36 inch waist pants.

The pulled upper left quad healed and loosened up quickly, but it was so sore last night that I took a bath and a Tylenol. Slept for about 14 hours. Feels a little better today but inflammation peaks at 48 hours after the trauma. I’m ready for pain tonight and tomorrow morning.

I might do some light dynamic leg stuff today. If it loosens up enough I’m going to practice short game golf stuff. I’m going to try to resist the urge to hit full swing shots at the range, but I’m aware that I’m a creature of impulse.

Took an aspirin about 30 minutes ago. Got an errand to run and a coffee date this morning. Then I intend to go where the wind takes me.

I was waiting for an inspection sticker so I did some exercises in the mechanics parking lot. Lol yes I’m that guy. Leg swings and stretch back/hug myself a few times, and it felt pretty good. So I did 10 body weight squats.

Just now I took out the bar in the driveway:

Romanian deadlifts 55 lbs 1x10
Front squats 55 lbs 1x5
Over head press 55 lbs 1x5
Front squats and over head press without break 55 lbs 1x5 each.

That’s all. Was pretty tight, lots of crackling in knees and shoulders, a little bit in the back. Only pain was left hip, which was a 1 on a scale of 1-10.

Felt pretty loose after the good warm up this afternoon so I walked 9 holes. Feel fine now. I guess I needed all that rest to recuperate from all of the golf. Looking back I walked a shitload and took thousands of swings in the past week alone. It’s definitely the season to increase strength for me, as the weather is perfect for lifting in the driveway.

Walked 18 yesterday morning and then 9 with the morning sun today.

I feel pretty awesome physically. Phase 1 of the metamorphosis is complete.

Time to fantasize about winter goals creating spring greatness.

Played the back 9 in the afternoon yesterday. Weather was fantastic. Sunny, windy, and cool but not cold.

Was planning on lifting today but I got a call for work at 10am. We spent the day ripping up a front walkway with a sledgehammer and a jackhammer, among other tools.

The after work shower gave me a chance for a true weigh in, which was a pleasant surprise at 204.4 lbs. thanks golf.

Did some light stretching and pushups yesterday nothing special.

Weighed in today at 207.4 lbs. drank last night and had a decent midnight snack.

I’ve done a lot of physical labor in the past week and it took its toll on my shoulders, particularly my traps. Woke Tuesday and Wednesday with a terrible stiff neck. Was supposed to be jackhammering yesterday morning but I had to cancel. Strong winds Wednesday morning took down part of my fence. Neighbors with dogs kind of rely on the fence, so I had to fix it quickly.

By noon I had loosened up enough to do some work. Got home around 5pm , showered, and passed out by 6pm.

Now I’m up in the middle of the night.

Weighed in before the shower at 203.2.

I decided to get really stoned in an attempt to get more sleep and it worked. Slept until 7am. Still pretty stiff in the shoulders and neck.

I’m pretty happy with how I feel, despite the stiff neck, considering what I put my body through.

Fall is my second favorite season because we get to do fun physical activities without becoming soaking wet with sweat.

Winter is my favorite season because it’s just ****ing wild and I love it. Piercing wind. Icy spikes flying around. Slippery steps everywhere. ****ing blizzards hell yes. Being the last one on the chairlift before they shut down because high winds, and the challenge set forth by nature. The rewarding sunshine on that first warm day of the year, is a macrocosm of the daily sunrise that nature provides. Anyone that has stayed up all night and has taken a minute to look at the sunrise is actually participating in a very ancient practice. It’s something rooted in our dna, as deeply as rationality itself, perhaps.

I’m pretty excited about my current fitness. I woke up with a stiff neck again (it’s been about a week now) but I went to dig and lay a cement walkway. It wasn’t easy and it took all day, but I have never felt this good after 9 hours of work since I was 20. Even my feet feel fine. Haven’t even had the desire to take off my boots.

It’s all because of golf lol.

Still waking up with a stiff neck but it loosens up as the day goes on.

Added some stuff to my golf warmup:

Standard lunges alternating unweighted 1x10(5 each side).

With 10 lbs held overhead with arms as straight as possible 1x10.

Wanted to get blood to my upper back without doing anything too intense. Seemed to work.

So then I stopped at the shop to see if the mechanic wanted to go golfing as planned, but he was eyeballs deep in doing a transmission. I decided to go alone. Made a lot of bogeys.

I also shot around a little bit yesterday morning. Only my second or third shoot around this year.

It’s only 745 am here and I already have too much on my plate for today. It’s quickly turning into a logistical nightmare.

No exercise yesterday but I think I needed a rest day anyways.

Neck is a 2/10 stiffness this morning, which is a slow and steady improvement.

Had a little left knee pain yesterday for the first time since winter. I’m going to squat and press today. Hoping to gain some strength before winter comes.

Feeling good today so I took the bar out.

Front to back leg swings x 10 each leg.
Side to side leg swings x 10
Forward stepovers x 10
Backwards stepovers x 10
High knees x 5 each leg.

Power clean + front squats 55 x 5
Power clean + overhead press 55 x 5
Power clean + front squats 75 x5
Pc + ohp 75 x 5
Repeat alternating squat/press two more times at 75 lbs, with no break between the final two sets.

Felt good to use all the muscles at once. No pain at all and I was surprised with my flexibility and resulting squat depth.

Didn’t break a sweat despite the short breaks between sets.

After workout weigh in at 212.2 wearing sneakers pants and a hoodie.

Full rest day yesterday. Didn’t do anything strenuous. Got a great night sleep last night for the first time in weeks. Woke without stiffness. Had 20 minutes to myself just now so I fit in a workout.

Usual warm up.

Body weight squats 2x5
Back bridge 2x10 seconds
Body weight squats 3x10 prisoners style
Pushups 5/5/10
