I still haven't tried any sort of "green shake" ever since that nightmare from last time

If you want to drink Campari, start with a glass of sweet vermouth and add just a splash. Each day make it a little more concentrated, and eventually you'll be drinking Campari with a splash of vermouth. Same thing with green smoothies; you just need a palatable gateway to start.

That is some of the stupidest **** imaginable.
07-15-2017 , 08:08 AM
Holliday,

So if I start out with a mix of 99% horse semen and 1% Oikos or Chobani and then titrate up from there, eventually I can get to the point where I can eat budget yogurt? Seems like a lot of effort for a terrible result.

Avocados are green. Avocado smoothies are amazing.
07-15-2017 , 01:09 PM
I have never really understood the origin of the idea that you "need" kale to be in your smoothies. You can just, like, eat it, you know? Or other leafy greens? In salads, soups, cooked and so forth. Not everything in life has to be some kind of exercise in asceticism.

If anyone needs me I'll be on Monte's fainting couch.

Or why you even need to drink a smoothie. I suppose it might work as a meal replacement especially if you scoop in protons. But most fatties, such as MLYLT and holliday, like smoothies for taste and to add even more calories to their diet.
07-15-2017 , 05:24 PM
Pretty much agree with every complaint. I mean the whole thing is ****ing absurd. Std Holliday.
07-15-2017 , 06:10 PM
I'm not even sure what the complaints are about. You don't want to drink a green smoothie or have any kale in your smoothie or have a smoothie at all? Fine, I don't give a ****. Some people *want* to have green smoothies and then self-sabotage it by making something really hardcore and never trying it again. They could just spend a little time building up to it and learning to balance the flavors and get what they wanted in the first place. Kale's not a magicfood it's just the most innocuous dark leafy green.

Monte; Idk, think of it as learning to enjoy IPAs or something.

Loco; How fat do you think I am? Yes I have smoothies as a meal replacement 5x per weak so I don't like them to just be deserts.

Mihkel; Do you think your stress and irritability from dieting are more or less than you anticipated?
07-15-2017 , 06:26 PM
Well considering I was at maintenance the last three days. Def less. Your "advice" is like giving people advice on how to drink meat shakes instead of just eating a stake.

It is totally ****ing ridiculous and a giant cal bomb.
07-15-2017 , 06:47 PM
Bros,

I've successfully reverse dieted up to what appears to be a maintenance of near 4000kcal with no added weight or bodyfat gain (will confirm again this week).

I was considering POICAD again for two weeks. Guesses on what happens if I do that again, this time around?

Cliffs of last 12 weeks:
265 @ 10.33% post POICAD
250 @ 7.66% post 6 week cut
256 @ 7.60% post 6 week rev diet

Are you planning on adding it to your current 4k diet? Also, will it be another 250-350/100gram bomb like before?
07-15-2017 , 07:24 PM
Yes and most likely yes, but I could be flexible and bring that total down a little.

I thought you were like 240.

Like I said, not a horrible idea to add protons and use like meal replacement. But I highly doubt that, you are too obsessed with taste. Who cares what it tastes like?

My go to Whole Foods smoothie is kale, parsley, green apple, jalapeño, lemon, protons. Point is to keep it local, not make it taste good.

I am in California often, these places making a killing. My buddy took me to get a tri tip with eggs Benedict. Afterwards he wanted a $12 green smoothie. Facking stupid, I don't know a single person who uses them to replace a meal. They all add to their three meals. Don't lie, you are 240. You obviously in for the taste and cals.

Last I weighed was 250 actually. I suspect the weight went up during a month of GOMAD, but I'm not certain. Could stand to cut to get closer to 10% than 20%, but that wouldn't fit my lifestyle which is already super high stress and dependent on my keeping calm at all times. I do have a little muscle.

No, I really do make a smoothie for lunch most days, with my other "snacks" typically consisting of protein powder and water. It really has to taste good for the wife (who has a hard time eating a full lunch then dinner) but I don't mind the high calories since my maintenance is pretty high.

Much like the "nobody I know ever stuck with a standup desk"...Idk what to tell you; now you know...me?

I think there is a guy on YouTube doing a diet with only ice cream + protons. I don't see why, he is going to look the same, lift the the same.

If you took two locos and kept protein adequate in both cases, would a balanced diet beat out an all ice cream diet over two years? No.

Maybe after a decade there would be some subtle changes.

I actually think if you put weasel on a gallon of beer + protons diet and had him do SS, he would look exactly like a weasel who was on the same calories and protein + SS but balanced diet. And even years into the experiment there would be no visible changes. But maybe after a decade some shiet starts falling apart. And obviously my point here is that SS leads to very little muscle hypertrophy so who cares what you eat. Shiet even if you halved the protons on the drunk weasel I really don't think you would see much of a difference. The realities of natty training are sobering.

Obviously exaggeration but point is no facking green smoothie is gonna save your arse. Exercise and leaness important, then moderation. Then way below you will find micros curing cancer.

Holliday -

Well I hope you look at the calories of those things. You don't want to pull a MLYLT and be eating 1000 calorie salads everyday.

So which are the good yogurts? I've got FAGE ahead. Is that one Monte-approved? What others are good?

I personally eat trader joe's greek yogurt, but I'm afraid you're gonna tell me that's horse semen too.

I definitely not a fan of Oikos or Chobani, so maybe I'm not hopeless after all.

Puuuhhhh. Glad you said that you are exaggerating. It is much more difficult to keep X calories diet on ice cream or beer than on balanced diet. You would get in a first week problems with digestion. In first month you would get a bunch of other malnourishment problems.

That said I basically never drink any smoothies or juices. I eat food. I drink water, tea and coffee. But if Holliday likes it why not have it? And I can imagine that for his wife it is a good way to keep nutrition in a healthy range.

And why it is so bad to care about taste?

I care greatly about how my food tastes. I also care about how my food looks. I like nicely decorated table even if I am eating alone at home. Eating is an experience that satisfies many senses. Good tasting, good quality, balanced and appealing to all my senses meal consumed without a computer screen or other distractions allows to have less calories and still have all enjoyment a meal can give.
