Its hard to get your lats tight and keep your shoulders back without a good handoff. idk if you can do it better or not with no handoff, but try to get your lats tight and keep your shoulders pulled back. Keep the lats tight the whole time the bar is in your hands.
Something you can do better even without getting a good handoff is get your lower body in better position to take advantage of leg drive. I think for you, try shoving your heels out a little wider on your setup before you pick the weight up. Its going to feel extremely tight and uncomfortable on the sides of your hips when you do it right, but it will immediately add lbs to your 1RM.
