I don't know anything about him - I just know what you said about him, which sounds a lot better than the guy you went to first.

yeah, listen to your body. If something doesn't feel right, don't do it.
I got replies from two other doctors. This first one sounds like a realistic thing for you to try:
"
....there is a PT in California who wrote a book called Pain Free. Basically his approach is to prescribe certain static positions to allow the body to realign itself via gravity. There are other clinics that espouse the same philosophy via certification. There are multiple positions once the patients issues are identified. It's very effective and I have prescribed many of his positions over the years . Therefore I would recommend looking up Peter Egosque. Pain free clinic."
I'd do this first if I were in your shoes^
This other guy is an MD who is a regenerative medicine expert. He could probably fix your issues with a combination of regenerative injections, chiropractic work (not him, an associate) and MAT (Muscle Activation Technique, again not him, an associate). Here's what he said,
"
Hips are tough. Takes a very head broad and deep approach and probably a year of work. A lot of neurological work. MAT. Chiropractic. Mind/heart. Physiology. The whole package."
If I had unlimited resources and time, I'd jump all over this^. This guy has fixed or helped a lot of my injury issues. He's also worked on several friends and my wife who have also had great success. He's a pioneer in regenerative medicine with more experience at it than almost anyone and he is always pushing the cutting edge of it, figuring out new, better ways to do it. People come from all over the world to get treated by him. One powerlifter friend of mine who lives in FL came up to MN for a week in January and got treated by him and his associates over the course of the week. She got great results. She said two years later that if she could do it over knowing what she knows now, she would do it again.
I also asked my PT who is super knowledgeable. She has not replied yet.
