Are those red bulls 160 calories each, so like 20% of your daily calories?

Greg is good. I think we could run here a count of calories through red-bull, dr. Pepper and such and see how big the number will be after a month.

Sodas mentioned on few last pages here~ 160*3=480 ckal.

Hope that Alobar won't be misled into not mentioning his sodas.

Lapka, it was 4 * 160 red bulls in the last 2 days, plus over calories from booze last weekend.

Alobar, on the plus side, I think your #1 priority was to stop binge eating, and you've done a great job accomplishing that, even if you're still drinking sugar-laden water.

Also on the plus side is the scale and logging. I just hope you can avoid the embarrassment of not getting sub 200 before MLY despite her spotting you 10 lbs. That'd be almost as bad as getting caught fapping at work.

then 4*160 red bulls (I somehow could remember only 2)
+ 1 can of dr pepper (160)=800 ckal

Oh I don't see the Dr Pepper but I found another red bull. One on the 23rd, two each on the 24th and 25th so that's 6*160 with the Dr P = 960, which works out to more than 1 lb worth of calories from sugar water over the course of a month.

yes, the redbulls have been rather unfortunate. I genuinely find them delicious, so once I have one I tend to go on a binge and have several of the course of a couple days until I finally snap out of it.

also I've noticed that on the days where I do a really hard ride and have a big calorie deficit I tend have a much harder time over the next couple of days of keeping things under control. So I'm going to try and eat more food (healthy hopefully, lol) on those days and see if that helps.

Also I plan to sit on the couch and watch Westworld and drink Dr. Pepper all day, so there is going to be at least one more day of sugar water

We are the same age, so we grew up at a time when diet soda started taking off.

And let me tell you, it was facking gross. Diet Pepsi even to this day is nasty.

But diet drinks have come a long way. You are basically living in the ice age. Give these a try and report back

Diet A&W root beer
Diet Cherry Dr Pepper
Rockstar Orange (hydration)
Rockstar pureZero (most of them are solid)
Cherry Coke zero
Monster Rehab Teas

And then report back. I think you will agree that you are a dinosaur that needs to update his favorite foods and drinks.

I first started to put on weight in my mid-30s so I started doing an hour of cardio 3 or 4 times a week to try to lose weight but would be so starving later that night I would end up eating more calories than I was burning. If only there'd been an H&F forum back then where someone could have told me you lose weight through diet not exercise.

loco,

I like the Monster Rehab Teas, they are pretty good, and thats generally what I try and drink when I feel the need for an energy drink as they are basically no calorie. But then Ill slip and drink the real thing and I remember just how much better they are!

MFP is not loading for me, so don't have my calorie info, I was under on sat and sunday, today im over but I honestly have no idea how to estimate the calories as it was bunch of food ive never had before and small portions. Going to do something different next month, so total calories are whatever especially since ive changed it anyway.

Tried to eat more food yesterday since I went on a really hard long ride. I had huuge craving today for sugary stuff (was really jonesing for some Dr. P and some candy) which I think is probably related.

You're going to get slammed for the Dr P. Even though I am with you on diet soda being totally disgusting, drinking the regular stuff especially if you find it hard to just have a small amount like a can is really going to hinder your weight loss. Do you like black tea or herbal tea? I make an iced tea with herbs and sometimes fruit which is really refreshing. Or I think El D suggested a soda stream.

Try to eat solid portion of carbs an evening prior to long rides. Nuts on a day of a ride?

I don't like to admit that I agree with HF consensus on anything, but I do agree that you need to try to maintain muscle mass, when dieting. ->Strength training?

Have you tried to experiment with foods? I mean I have thought about, what can you do, if someone genuinely likes Dr. Pepper and mcdo. I don't have an ultimate solution. But I know that i would try a TON more of different food and beverages out than you have logged. And I would try to be more mindful with how exactly different food makes you feel. You wrote somewhere that you are not good at recognizing flavours. I would try it more.

I think it is huge progress that you noticed your tendency to overeat after a tough cardio.

Soda count: 1360 ckal: 5 cans red bull+1can Dr pepper +1 l Dr pepper

Getting his eating under control should be jobs one through ten, but yes, doing a bit of resistance training (and upping his protein intake) wouldn't be a terrible idea. Diet first, though.

Related to the above, this is not really unusual or unique, which is why some people think resistance training is superior to strenuous cardio in a deficit, as strength training will, for most, not affect one's appetite to the extent strenuous cardio does.

That said, clearing out the pantry and stocking up on lean meats, vegetables, and fruit will fix a lot of the mysterious problems our hero is having with losing weight. Doing a bit of planning (what's my BMR->what's my TDEE->given that, what are my protein and fat requirements->plan daily meals with those macros in mind->add carbs to those meals) will solve most of OP's non-willpower related problems.

I enjoy earl grey tea (which I think is a black tea), my plan is to drink that when I want a caffeine fix.

I don't get how a soda steam would help (my gf has one, it collects dust) as their Dr P knock off is disgusting.

So I feel like I've done a really good job not binge eating, I'm not sure if its publically logging it that has helped or maybe im under less stress or just mentally in a better place (probably some combination of all of that) but even tho I haven't really lost much weight, I'm happy with how things have gone, and I feel like that aspect is under control enough that I'm going to step up my efforts. So I'm going to give a shot with what proved effective for me in the past.

I'm going to to post my weight (and I guess a video of my weigh in) each day (and still post my food log), and if my weight is higher than at any point in the previous 8 days, I owe $1,000. Figure i'll just split it among the people who have a post in this thread before this post. But I honestly dont care cuz to me its all the same (I lose) so if someone has a fairer (or more fun) way feel free to throw it out there.

I'm going to cheat a little bit in the fact that I'm going to start the first of the 8 days tomorrow, so I can't actually lose any money till 8 days after that. I wanna make sure I'm good and hydrated and also give me a week of grinding so that I can start off good.

Alobar,

That seems . . . extreme. Are you going to modify your dietary habits?

Should a payout be necessary, I'll PM a charity for my piece.

Good luck!

Yeah that's stupid, massive swings in water weight will get you discouraged and lose you money. I don't know why fatties insist on reinventing the wheel. They egomaniacs who know it all and end up falling flat on their face.

Your diet is going well. With those changes alone you will be at a healthy weight in a few years. Think about it, one can of soda a week over maintenance calories will make you gain a few pounds a year. So just making simple changes will eventually get you back in the game.

By far the best thing you can do is keep it up and now get on a beginner exercise program and stick to it for a few months. At the end of that period there should be light that carries you to the promised Land.

All these fatty rookies scared of exercise. From rexx to Lapka, from mlylt to ytf to these new pussy greens who lurk and post but refuse to start a log. They make up their own exercise and log it for a few weeks but the consistency is weaksauce. Consistency comes from a real program, logged right here to completion.

Log an exercise program to completion and if you don't finish it , you need to donate $1000 to the starving kids in Africa and Latin America, as punishment for your gluttony.

Let's get rolling. It can be couch to 5k. It can be a beginner cycling program. SS. Anything. We will take pushups or a chin up progression.

This one looks easy enough

https://www.redbull.com/gb-en/beginn...training-guide

Do that for a couple of months. Maybe lift once or twice a week for upperbody Then find a race that looks fun for you and train for that with another program for 3 months.

Then the promised Land of Eternal Health and Fitness will come into view.

I'm rooting for you OP, but just in case you do decide you need to penalize yourself at some point you can send my % to (1) Helping Hands Monkey Helpers -or- (2) Puppies Behind Bars.

And I think most of the people supporting you ITT would like to see any penalty go to a charity rather than to them personally given that their cut would be negligible, whereas a $1k donation to a fiscally responsible charity could do some good.
