Don't buy sweet stuff. Somewhere there is a point before which you can stop. Don't go beyond this point.

I would focus on binges and every time you have one write down, what exactly was going on in your head from the first impulse to the end, and what are you going to change in your life so that this specific situation won't happen again.

The good thing is you're going so low you're giving yourself some leeway for bad days. As long as they aren't too crazy.

If I ever give offering free money to someone to spend 10 seconds a day checking an app to see if I made a certain goal another try, ill definitely let you know. I feel you actually wouldnt let me down on the task.

Good idea. I should feel shame for mistakes. Will do this with the daily update.

I'll give this a try, thanks for the suggestion. Is this something youve done? did it help?

It does help. My relationship with food normalized a lot compared with 10 years ago.

Two examples:
After certain conversations with my mom I felt compelled to eat this bag of cookies or something equally stupid. -> digging and writing showed that perceived loss of autonomy + basically absent boundaries led to that-> a bunch of various strats to deal with that -> this one stopped leading to binges

I ended up in mcdo every time I travelled. ( and I don't like mcdo. I hated myself every time, already while I ate this hamburger)-> self observation +really stopping for a moment to understand why do my feet now go to this yellow M, although I really don't want, resulted in two reasons: I was really hungry and I am perceptive for advertising-> started to ensure that at the end of the journey I still have an apple or so with me to fend of mcdo.+ don't open mcdo coupons. Worked like a charm. 100 % success with this one.

Couple points:

1) loco's rant is mostly nonsense, but electrical impedance BF% testing is highly affected by hydration and other factors leading it to being very inaccurate. Tape measure for the waist is really a simple way to add another more useful quantitative measure. It is the recommended measure after tracking weight. (Just come up with a standardized way of tracking so you don't start manipulating the results. See MLY measurements for this occurring.)

2) Don't do keto or any of the other advised extreme diets. I'm not an expert on fixing eating disorders and problematic behavior, so I'll leave that to someone else. But all of the gluten free/keto/paleo/etc is just idiocy that is generally unhealthy and weirdly restrictive.

3) The purpose of logs isn't shame btw. At some point you can ideally stop logging your food intake (or maybe not). The purpose is to see if you can change behaviors. (IE I eat cereal for breakfast which leaves me hungry and I binge at lunch 4x more than when I have eggs for breakfast, so maybe I'll eat eggs for breakfast now.)

weight: 204.2

BF%: 14.1

Food: Oatmeal with some peanut butter, a cliff bar, Chinese take out that was mostly steamed vegetables and chicken, with a side of chow mein.

exercise: rode my bike 90 minutes

daily calories: -2090

total calories: -3988

Normally I would have gotten a pizza tonight, but after my ride I for some reason really just wanted to eat something I could consider semi healthy. Went with steamed vegetables and basically grilled chicken. I had so many calories I could consume tho that I got a side of chow mein. Then the weirdest thing happened, I had eaten about half of everything and I realized I was only continuing to eat just to be eating, that I could probably stop and id be fine. Now normally when I have that realization I just power through that **** and keep on eating. Today for some reason I didn't.

Will be interesting to see how I handle the left overs. Usually when there is left overs in the fridge that I could just save and have for dinner, I end up eating it at some point between breakfast and lunch. Which is I think one of the reasons I typically just eat everything in one sitting, cuz I know im effectively not saving any calories cuz instead of it substituting a meal the next day, it will just be in addition to everything I would eat normally. Also I dont go anywhere duing the day on friday, so I usually end up drinking about a liter of Dr Pepper.

yeah, I use it a lot of the time to figure out where my hydration is, lol. "sweet I lost 2 lbs....oh, my body fat is 2% higher. looks like I just need to drink more water"

Sounds like your mindset is changing I actually think exercise tends to make me want to eat healthier, whether it's my body saying "Gimme good fuel" or my mind saying "Don't **** it up", I'm not quite sure. Thremp has a point in regards to food logs helping you understand your eating, particularly binging. Shame is just a nice bonus for you!

Damn you sound like me. Back issues from sitting all day (I'm a CPA). Was 209 about a year ago and got down to 181. Now back around 195 so I'll join in your journey to 180

Give this a whirl EVERY DAY and it should help you immensely

weight: 203.6

BF%: 15.2

Food: Oatmeal with some peanut butter, Last nights leftovers, 750ml Dr Pepper, Stuffed Sopapilla with beans and rice from local mexican place

exercise: went for a 40 minute hike

daily calories: -13

total calories: -4001

So I guess I can count today as a win. I actually treated the leftovers as a meal instead of a snack, I didn't drink an entire liter of Dr Pepper. Kind of annoyed tho about my dinner, I could have made some more gains if I just had some pasta at home or something. blah.

Tomorrow Im supposed to go to a friends kids birhtday party, which would normally mean id be a cookie and cake eating mother ****er, but Im going to use having to study for my finals as an excuse to duck out early. Going to try and go not hungry and leave before I lose my will power.

I think right now Im kind of in "video game" mode where I want to see my total deficit number grow. I suspect that will wear off, but maybe Ill form a good habit before it does?

This is relevant to my interests.

However, Diet Dr Pepper always throws me off since Dr Pepper is the GOAT, its hard to compare a diet version. I just go for regular old diet coke

Diet Sunkist / Fanta Zero (orange)
Fresca (any flavor)
Diet Dr. Pepper
Diet Cherry Coke Zero
Diet Sprite

...and see what you think. I'm not suggesting that diet soda is good for you, but it's a pretty painless way to get away from full-sugar soda.
