11/29: rest day

11/30: (This way out @ 85%)

12/01: (A very dark place @ 65%) Both of these workouts were basically just tempo rides given they were at reduced intensity

12/02: (Fight club) Remember doing this one a month ago and I failed the last 20 seconds. Actually wasn't feeling very strong today (which is kind of weird given Im just coming off a rest week), but did the whole thing. That last 20 seconds ****ing sucked tho

I hope so! I haven't been weighing myself. I would guess I'm probably right around 200lb tho

After getting unfat, but then gaining everything I lost back once summer hit, I started seeing a therapist that specializes in eating disorders, and it's made a pretty huge impact

You are way stronger in the burning calories department than the eating little department. For me it's the reversed.

12/03: Cadence builds and holds

12:04: 2 hour MTB ride, did an hour at race pace. Ugh, did not go well, I did a 57:30 lap....I did it in 53:22 in the race last year, and the winner did it in 48 something. I can probably figure on knocking 5 minutes off my time just cuz I had already done a lap and my legs werent fresh to begin with and you can always go harder in a race. But finding 5 more minutes on top of that in 7 weeks seems like a pretty tall order. Can't add that much power in that time, so its going to have to come from diet and technique.

12/05: (who dares) three 9.5 minute intervals around FTP with a sprint at the beginning, middle and end. According to my notes I did better than when I did it around 8 weeks ago (thank god), my legs felt like **** today after yesterdays really hard ride, but for some reason my cardio was pretty decent.

How often do you run? A few years ago I accomplished my first maraton. After that I stopped running. It is difficult to start again.

I haven't really ran in close to two years because I have back issues and it's too painful. Tho I recently have gotten some relief and actually went and ran 2 miles a couple weeks ago with much less pain than normal. I much prefer running to cycling, but I've never won a mountain bike race before and so have made this a focus, so even if I could run I'd still make cycling my priority right now. But ideally id love to win a race, and then start running again. I'd probably still ride some to try and maintain some of the fitness I've gained, maybe do an ironman or something, i dunno.

12/11: (a dark place) five 4 minute intervals at 120% FTP. Couldn't keep my heart rate down at all, was about 10bpm higher across the board than what I would have expected. Really had to focus to try and get through the last interval.

12/12: rest day

12/13: (blender)

12/14,15,16: rest days

bunch of **** happened and I had to take the last couple few days off. Was supposed to have my fitness test after a taper week, but my holiday plans have also changed so basically since I had a few days off I decided to do it today, ugh....it did not go well

so my numbers from the last time I did one were

5 second power: 1057 watts
1 minute power: 547 watts
5 minute power: 341 watts
20 minute power: 270 watts

numbers from todays test were

5 seconds: 1144
1 minute: 515
5 minute: 359
20 minute: 273

I ****ed the pacing up on the one minute, so i think that explains some of why it was so terrible, but also i think the fact the 20 minute didnt go well played into it to (you do the one minute after doing the 20 minute). I was only holding 280 watts for the first 10 minutes and then I basically spent the last 10 in complete and utter hell trying desperately to hang on. My hope going in had been that after this 12 week session I'd be at 300 watts, not digging as deep as I possibly could to basically put out the same numbers as last time. The prep for this obviously wasn't the best, so I should be able to do better under optimal conditions, but meh, still not very happy.

12/23: (the chores) seven intervals of 40 seconds on at 130% FTP 20 seconds off, into 4 minutes at FTP, then rest. Then 6 40/20 intervals into 5 mins FTP and 5 40/20 intervals and 6 mins FTP

Today is first day of another 12 week program, Just did some random **** between my last post and today. I took my **** home for the holidays, I dunno what it is about being here that makes me ride like ****, but my HR was 20bpm higher than normal and I struuuuugled.

got 8th in the first race the season, and got 5th in the second. Missed the win by 15 seconds in the second one, I let too big a gap open before the final climb and ran out of climb, if I had another 100 meters I would have won

I got into Leadville in August which is a famous 100 mile race. The goal is to do it in sub 9 hours which is sort of the gold standard and should be on the edge of possible with my current fitness and 8ish months to train, but is also incredibly difficult to do for a first time rider even if they have the fitness, so it should be a fun challenge.

Nice work bro, killing it. We might have to set up a challenge for S&Fs fittest man title. Rower vs Runner Vs Cyclist

Runner -180
Cyclist +600
Rower +500
