7/18... 11 miles

7/19...6.5 miles

7/20...0 rest day

7/21...7.75 to 8 miles. 2 miles warmup over to the track. 2x 200 moderately easy. 4x 400 hard, with 400 easy after each. 2x 800 hard with 400 easy after each. walk 5 minutes. 1.5 miles @7:15 pace, started slow finished fast. half mile easy jog. walk 10 minutes. cloudy, breezy, and muggy.

7/22...5.5 miles @8:09/m. felt good. steamy out.

7/23...4.55 miles @8:17/m. ok. stuck with the same shitty weather. dew point over 70.

7/24...4.65 miles @8:15/m. 76F at 7:45am with dew point around 70 again. meh.

7/25...15.55 miles at 2:09:05 or 8:18/m.

got out the door before 5:30 am, while it was warm and humid, at least i didn't have to deal with the sun for the first half of the run. once the sun took hold it warmed quickly, but at least the breeze came up with the heat. started at 69F with 66 dew point and 90% humidity. finished at 78F but "only" 70% humidity. the weather was almost exactly like the half marathon i ran in june. got highly hydrated before i left and had water with me until mile 10. finished well with my best miles coming at the end and somewhat easily. still had plenty left.

good planning, good energy, god run overall.

week ending 7/31...41.5 miles running on 6 days. 4.5 to 5 miles walking.

not much to post, just putting in the miles. did 10x 150 yard hill repeats as part of thursday's wo. 2x 5k with 1m between/after on friday.

8/1...17.15 miles @2:22:10. cooler with a nice breeze, but still a little humid. didn't feel as easy as last week, but i didn't use my hydrogel sports drink today. maybe it makes a difference, but last week it upset my stomach a bit. pretty even splits except mile1...slow as usual, and miles 15 and 16 a bit on the faster side.

onward...

week ending 8/7...46 miles on 6 days running. 5 miles or so walking.

8/1...17.15 miles

8/2...4.65 miles @8:14m. felt pretty good. no real soreness.

8/3...0 rest day

8/4...~8.5 miles. 5k @24:02. 1 mile @7:55. 5k @22:44. 1mile+ @ 8:12/m. walk 1 mile.

8/5...5.1 miles @8:07/m. a touch heavy legged, but okay.

8/6...6.55 miles @8:14. literally felt effortless. one of those days i felt i could have gone forever.

8/7...4.35 miles @8:25. sunny, hot, humid. didn't get my ass out early enough.

overall feeling really good.

try to get 12 to 14 miles tomorrow, but more heat and humidity.

Solid work. I'd normally be concerned but I have reached training levels at endboss stage.

Good thing you are racing before me. I am shooting for 2:58, but will change it immediately if your age graded time is faster.

Never thought an old fart would try to sneak in and take my glory away, as i finally put a nail on pokerron's coffin.

Its a valient effort, thats fosho.

week ending 8/14...42 miles on 6 days running. mostly in survival mode due to high heat, humidity, and dew points. also, several waves of nasty storms...high winds, torrential downpours, and high winds.

did some "speed work" on weds. 300 m hills, one faster mile, and 200 m sprints on the flat.

8/15...19.25 miles in 2:40:10. much cooler and low humidity. barely had broken a sweat thru the first 13 miles or so. felt much warmer once the sun got higher and started to take effect. didn't have my best energy, but didn't have a good night of sleep.

most miles between 8:08 and 8:22. slowest mile...mile 1 @9:08, fastest mile 18 @8:00.
walked and stretched .85 mile after.

week ending 8/21...48 miles on 6 days running. cooler and less humid at the beginning of the week, then hot and muggy the rest of the week.
just grinding out the miles.

8/22...21 miles in 3:03:20. slow as hell, but went well. weather wasn't ideal, (warm) but not bad. part dark, part sun, and part clouds. with a pleasant breeze.

That’s about the furthest I ever ran when training for a marathon. Will you run further before the race?

that's about it. i'll try to get a solid week mileage wise this week and start tapering next sunday. maybe shoot for 12 to 15 miler...15 only if i'm feeling really good.

21 or 22 is about the most i have ever done pre-marathon, don't recall.

week ending 8/28...47 miles on 6 days running. 5 miles or so walking. 2 short bike rides.
mostly hot and steamy conditions.

8/30...13.15 miles 1:50:30...meh

got the vax on fri. around noon. felt fine for about 24 hrs. then things started going south. just felt off sat. afternoon and evening. spiked a slight fever sat. night and felt flushed. didn't sleep worth a damn, and a strong storm blew thru early, so had to blow off sunday's run. felt mostly okay sunday but tired.

fast forward to this morning...low energy and some stomach issues (cramping). barely made it back home before things let loose. i know people that had covid and they didn't even have what my wife and i had after getting vaxed. bullshit.

fricking vaccine!

week ending 9/4...41 miles on 6 days running, 4 miles or so walking, and a couple of short easy bike rides.

9/5...11.02 miles @1:31:50

got out fairly early to nice cool conditions with a good cool breeze. barely broke a sweat...only slightly damp when i finished.

ran a more hilly version of the area today as well of most of the past week. it's sorta nice that i have the choice to keep my routes flatter, rolling, or hilly.

feeling great!
