Alot of guys I work out with use chalk, I think it makes your grip better and just causes more pain in the hands because it sticks more, but it could work I guess.

ss isn't working for your dl anymore?

What about
M
barbell rows/good mornings/speed deadlift 5x5ish
assistance: glute ham raises if you've got the equipment
W
Power cleans 5x3
F
deadlift 1x5

Or
M
Power clean 8x3
ghr's/pull throughs for assistance
W
Power Snatches 3x3 or 5x3 (it'll be lighter weight obv so it will be a medium or recovery day for the pull from floor)
F
Deadlift 1 set, make some kind of personal record at lowish reps heavy weight. I'd start out with 1x5 and see how long that lasts. Once that stalls just get as many reps as you can at a new weight personal record, and then go for 5 reps next friday at the same weight.

SS is... I think... I don't think my legs are really making a ton of progress, but whatev. I'm not terribly worried about that atm. I am much farther away from 400 than the other lifts though (I dunno my max, but I doubt I've made any progress beyond the 340 I've pulled previously).

I did 25 pushups earlier today and then ran like .7 miles tonight. Still woefully out of shape. My weekend of boozing heavily and losing money did not help my physique. Whatev. I now remember why I do all these little feeder workouts.

Coming off this type of template, you should def structure some high-rep squats. I'm talking 20+. Normally I spit in the face of high reps; this is a worthy exception.

Obv high rep squatting is not a good idea for beginning lifters.

Yeah, that sounds hard. I'm looking for the easy way to squat 300 and DL 400.

Isn't there like a Body for Life plan for 1.75BW and 2.35xBW?!? I mean that isn't even 2 and 2.5 People should be able to just show up and do that.

Another day in the hood.

Squat
3x5x227.5

Press
3x5x112.5

Clean
5x3x165

Chins
3x6xBW

OH DB Walk
2x25x40
2x25x50

So my squat form is horrid. It makes everyone cry. I think the running shoes are part of the problem. Meh. Its unstable surface training. All my other lifts were fine and are improving solidly. I held a DB over my head and walked around for my core work. Turning was tricky. I tweaked my knee a little when I wasn't careful with the weight. I assume holding heavy things overhead and carrying them around can't hurt. I'll probably add this to my rotation of things to do.

Squat
3x5x230

Bench
3x5x177.5

Dead
1x5x285

Dips
2x12xBW

TGUs
7x30

Yawn. Shoes were problem with squats. Too swimmy. I need to get something else like Nike Free or something. I'm not gonna wear chuck taylors since I'd prefer to have something I can "run" in (lolz like what I do passes for running). Felt horrid earlier. Workout was great. Weight is 168.4. Looking a little tubby. Few more pounds of fat than I'd like, but I'll deal with that later on. I can still see a hint of abs if I close my eyes and visualize them. Shoulder girdle size is still improving though not as much as when I did that Bulgarian Squat program. I may try to gain enough size that all my clothes stop fitting so I have to buy new ones. That'd be kinda cool. Well atleast all my shirts.

Did you just make this up or did you read it somewhere? I will give it a shot, sounds dangerous.

I'll probably go Nike Free. Or just socks. People look at me weird. But not any weirder than they'd look at a guy in a ponytail doing squats anyway.

Though I think most people respect me for my "hard" workouts. I get comments from strictly old dudes and they're all like, "Those are so good for you. I should do that." I stay on good terms with them because its nice to have spotters, but they're creepy.

I got in trouble for taking my shoes off at the gym. Even though they sell weightlifting socks (which are designed to be worn without shoes), at their shop . It sucks to be interrupted like that during a set. So you might want to ask first before you go shoeless.

Yeah, I go during fairly low hours... And I usually see the head trainer. I did this 1x before when my feet fell asleep, so I think its cool. But yeah... I would be annoyed if he hassled me about it.

I'm watching the Discovery channel (what else is there to watch sans soft core porn?). And they have something about evolution. One of the researchers makes a comment that the species that survive are strongly correlated with eating meat. Ergo eating meat must be good. Brain food ldo.

It's actually the sole catalyst to our ancestors' brain development which led to inventing tools to hunt for more animals, and the snowball began.

me too, deadlifting months ago. I was wearing weightlifting shoes so it was actually an issue cuz DLing with them on would have been a bitch

woman trainer who just has her clients stretch and bounce around on balls and do pushups and stuff told me I had to put my shoes back on, no socks allowed

so I had to explain to her that the socks attire was an essential element of my workout as the raised heel on the shoe would decrease my leverage and that my back would round and compress and spine would explode all over the gym, and she needed to understand, let me level with you please, I just HAVE to deadlift because if I don't I won't get big enough over the summer for freshmen year football and I'll lose my scholarship and shame my family and have to work in my dads butcher shop like the past three generations of Garzas

she looked kind of confused and upset and just said "well.... don't.... don't do that." and walked away. I was able to finish my last two worksets no problem.

that may be slightly embellished but it's pretty close to what happened. I guess I'd just bring slippers if I ever went to DL there again and let all the girls giggle at my footwear. Might as well just get pink ones at that point.

There is probably nothing that would bring joy to you people more than seeing me at some yuppie health club dressed as I usually am (ponytail, same shorts... everytime with chalk stains when they have not been washed, random t-shirt), not really speaking to anyone, and just monopolizing the power rack from all the guys who wanna do curls.

On a more different note, running is ghey. Did 4x400m. Queer. I am soaked. Need to consume 1928381 cups of water to replenish fluids.

I can't believe so many ppl get told not to DL w/ no shoes. I've DL'd at a few different gyms including LA fitness and 24 hour right in front of trainers who were working w/ someone and nobody's ever said anything. I guess I can look kinda mean when I'm strength training though.

My previous gym was pretty cool about of this stuff: socks, loading plates into my backpack, etc

I absolutely love ramping up my DLs (increasing loads, but decreasing levarage and mechanical disadvantages), starting with snatch-grip platform DLs with shoes, transitioning the height and grip over the warm up sets to the work set that is regular grip and only socks.

Great psychological and mechanical preparation for the work set.

Yeah, I'm wearing shoes at the moment. As soon as I busto a set I'll probably just take the shoes off the next week in addition to keeping the loading the same so it'll be significantly easier.

It is interesting how much difference 10-20 pounds or just an inch makes.
