KB Swing 1p

Prob have lost some weight. Didn't log all the workouts. Seems like things are trending in the right direction. I was able to grab a 12 pack overhead without pain, so that is also a positive sign. Apparently I needed more time of not doing anything to get better? Or maybe just an isolated incident since I never use my shoulder and the bursitis will get worse when I try to use it at all? 50/50

Spent 45m shoveling snow. (Windchill on -9, single digits!)

Will prob want to die tomorrow.

It appears Father Time has finally done his magic and I am able to use my right shoulder without weird clicking or pain. I was able to lift protein powder off a shelf one handed (10lbs) which is substantially heavier than a wine bottle (~2.5lbs) without any weird sensations/clicks/pain.

Clearly my plan of sitting on my ass and day drinking atleast 3x a week was far more effective than those silly medical doctors.

So... can you psnatch/pclean/pcjerk? Have you seen david woodhouse "the system"? Its very old but I think training like this for somebody like you would work great, but maybe just do power variations instead of full.

It started getting real bad when I finished rehab and then started doing SS to get back on the horse. Started having a burning pain that woke me during sleep, so I stopped exercising and put everything on hiatus while I waited for the doctor, which due to the joys of socialized medicine takes me forever to see the doctor I've selected (I pay obv, he's in high demand). During this time of goblin mode, I no longer have pain while sleeping and my ROM has markedly improved although it is still noticeably impacted. (For reference I could not lift my arm to even make a Seen Kyle joke.) I'm prob like 10 degrees from vertical where I should be able to get my arm behind my head.

So for the near future I'm just gonna be doing some weird stretches, light rehab, and a few KB swings to keep from dying. This should resolve over a matter of months, atleast this is what the doctor tells me.

Rather weird outcome since my age/sex doesn't really lend itself to getting frozen shoulder (women 50-70). Doctor was rather mystified as well since I don't have anything that could cause these symptoms other than frozen shoulder (ROM/Pain that started, then improved). Continuing my long history of being a 1%er.

So until I get back some semblance of full ROM and can exercise it, won't really know. It seems like the chronic bursitis issue is fixed, but that is also a ?!? since I'm not really using it for anything. Guess we will see!

Its a really weird thing for me to develop. And no, I cannot HBBS. (My arm literally can't get into that position on its own.) I'm cutting out anything that could put stress on my shoulder (esp weighting) until I regain a reasonable amount of mobility. But basically just need to wait this one out. Do my little arm circles and light band work and stay well within my ROM with light weights for "do not die" exercise atm. Maybe I should just pick up jogging again like everyone else has.

No shame in transitioning to cardiobunny status as the olds progress.

Glad to hear there's some slow progress happening, though.

What age did you transition? I'm gonna be 35 soon and I know it's inevitable eventually. Hope it will be after 45 in my case and def going the cycling or swimming route. Running is g4y.

Sorry to hear it, bro. Get well soon. On the bright side, no one can give you **** for leg pressing. So at least there's that.

I do it on occasion. The weather is a major impediment. However, I did run cross country 20+ years ago. Not sure I want to weight 135lbs again tho or even could if I desired.

Yeah, I won't be paying $20 a month to go to a gym I dislike to do a few sets of leg presses 3x a week.

Thank you both for the well wishes tho. Apparently this will eventually resolve if I refrain from doing anything weird and even give a half ass attempt at doing light shoulder work. I somehow imagine most of their core demo is not very compliant.

Three and a half years ago I started rowing because of covid (didn't want to risk getting infected at the gym and becoming a widower due to pozzing my high risk wife), and even given I've gone back to barely lifting again since, my left hip has some kind of posterior issue that causes a fair bit of soreness if I lift heavy or (now) keep it in flexion for ninety minutes rowing.

I've been running for a bit over a year because I thought those fitness race things seemed like they could be fun, but I haven't done one yet - I'm enjoying running far more than I thought. We'll see how long this lasts, but a bunch of cardio and lifting two to three times a week with single leg work seems sustainable, at least for now. I'd like to get better at swimming, as I barely scraped by swimming 500 meters at my sprint triathlon, but that would require some dedicated work and skill acquisition that I'm not sure I'm fully interested in investing the necessary time in.

All very much understood; returning to ant status is probably a bridge too far for me too. I'm not under any illusions that I'm not midlife crisis, but cliches are cliches for a reason I suppose.

I did have to master some basic swimming and was a fairly strong swimmer (non-swim team, non-coastal, not actively training teenager category). And honestly just mastering the basics will go a long way to improving your swimming times and efficiency. Literally a dozen or so hours. Its basically like using the C2 and we have all seen people who have rowed hundreds of hours with terrible technique. Swimming is basically the same thing. You just need to master a basic crawl and possibly a recovery backstroke if you wanna do a race where you can't slowly crawl the entire distance.

Just figuring out a pace you can manage for 10-15m would likely vastly improve your sprint tri experience. I assume these are all lake-esque conditions. Swimming in the ocean is aids.

I'm mostly aware, just not sure I have the interest or desire to focus on it. We'll see if my buddies want to do a few this summer after the marathon, in which case my desire for redemption and hatred of losing will probably take over.

Went to the local Buc-ee's.

Obviously it is one of the busiest travel days of the year so I had to cruise the parking lot a while to find a spot. Here is the wide swath of humanity parked outside.

Took some notes for N1H on employment. Keep in mind this is a southern city of around 20k people. So... cleaning overnight bathrooms is gonna end up being a pretty decent life. Can buy a house nearby for 120k with a little yard and fence!

Here are some fine patrons doing a little shopping. You can see the restrooms in the distance, which were as advertised. Incredibly clean despite the fact there was a fairly substantial amount of usage. (Think ~90% occupancy on the men's side. Line on waman.)

Jerky available if anyone is interested!

And a final image from the back corner of the store. This one was fairly small at 53k sqft so definitely not the biggest and likely on the lower end of the pay scales. (Poor AGM gonna have to figure out how to make at 6 figs in the suburban South.) Spoke to the AGM. He was a polite and helpful middle age man. All in all, it seems like just a super fancy and clean truck stop. No one was using the car wash, but the pumps and main area were insanely packed. Seems like a decent enough place to work.

Wow, that was fast! Love the detail and the photos. Incredible stuff.

Given the experience requirements, job description, and pay, seems like they should be bursting at the seams with applications. Presumably that's not the case or they wouldn't be advertising their positions so aggressively.

n1h, if times get tough, at least you can consider this before G4P. Although, I do think if you keep on your purpose and get more swole, you will command a much higher G4P hourly rate in Chicago.

NGL, I'd buy some of that ghost pepper jerky.

Guy,

It has some perks. I can get great BBQ anywhere. And is prob the best place as a young professional in America. In the very affluent suburb I'm in, the most expensive homes are like 1-2m and that is for 6-12k sqft with lux finishing. You can get some pretty nice digs at like $150 sqft. Always a good lol when the laundry room has matching granite/marble countertops with the kitchen.

I learned that my folk's neighbor is a Porsche collector of both show and racing cars who has 13 of them. When you're capped on property at 1-2m, you can quickly just dump cash in whatever asinine pursuit you want. I also have never seen a single Lambo/Ferrari/etc in this area. Lotta trucks in the 70-100k range tho.

Melk,

It was a 10min detour from a nearby town where I wanted to look at a few historical buildings.

Honestly at entry level jobs it is near impossible to find grinders like N1H. Take a look at virtually any place on the internet that discusses work and is populated by Gen Z. He ain't wrong about how folks don't wanna work. ~44k starting for a job that literally requires no skills? Cmon.

There is a huge wall of jerky. You can buy one of each type and prob spend $200 on just jerky.

Lived in a subtropical climate with afternoon thunderstorms for 6 years. 32-33 a day with 100% humidity. No mas.

I probably gone to bucees 50+times. Never got Jerky.

I wonder what's better. The super processed jerky but with low fat or the brisket sandwich with high sat fat.

Both very pricey.

My favorite jerky has always been old trappers hot n spicy jerky. Kinda looks like bucees. It's probably the same thing but rebranded.

I mainly like to gas up and drop a huge load in the nice bathrooms. And the body armor drinks are not super over priced.

My gf gets a burrito. They are okay but I think they stopped making special orders. You use to go to the computer and make up your own burrito or sandwich, a la wawa from the east coast. They took that away at the two locations I frequent. Now everything pre-made. Boo.

Loco is evolving. I'd say circa 2015 loco would have snap said jerky and called anyone who picked the sandwich a donk.

If your home is only 15 min from the buc-ees where this is happening on the reg, either those are some incredible facking bathrooms or you're doing it all wrong.
