I actually went to buy a nice grill and ended up buying the $20 one I replace every year. It just made me cringe at the cost of the other grills. Are they worth it, any recommendations?
I don't like gas grills because what's the point if you aren't getting the charcoal flavor.
Unless you frequently host massive parties or grill massive cuts (suckling pig) I would go with a Weber kettle. They are gonna run about 90-100 bucks but it’s well worth it if you do any regular barbecuing.
I have one that has seen regular action for the last 7 or so years and I expect to get another 7 or more.
Weber is super modular and they sell all kinds of accessories and replacement parts. I suspect I’ll be needing to replace the grill grate within the next year or so but the grills themselves are rock solid. I have never covered mine but I do leave it under a carport.
Bonus tip: you might be able to pickup a used one for pretty cheap at a flea market/yard sale or craigslist.
