This is an idea that you need to to kind of realize. 4 cones is less than half of that mint ice cream, but it's understandable to binge on a pint (1 container of the smallest amount they generally sell) than to eat 1 cone, then another, then another, then another.
It's the same reason why it's so horrifying 2-3 triple cheeseburgers is even though people routinely order a pasta dish with bread that is the same amount of calories.
Eating a huge amount of calories sometimes as a treat is understandable, but eating the same thing multiple times in the same sitting because it activates so many endorphins is a big problem. It just shows a lack of self control, which is pretty much how people fail in all facets of life, not just health. Everyone has extenuating circumstances that makes it more difficult to control themselves, but when you start rationalizing THAT is is the reason why you're failing and it'll pass "soon" is when you're really damn ****ed.
If you talk to a bunch of alcohol or drug addicts, or homeless folk, they can give you a really good reason that you'll dismiss and think they can do better if they tried, but your problems are something they'll laugh at too given your relatively good situation.
The bottom line is, no more excuses, just I ate 4k calories today because I chose to, or 2k because I chose to is all you should be focused on.
