crashsignal.jpg,

i followed a recipe for chicken and rice thinking it was chicken & rice soup/stew. So I just have a brothless mixture of chicken thighs and jasmine rice. Which is fine. It actually tastes quite good. The fresh ginger was an excellent touch (my own improvisation to the recipe).

My question is in the future, if I want to actually make a soup, I assume I soak the rice prior to adding it to the broth? Or just use a lot more broth?

Travel time to the gym has become a real limiting factor. We have a gym at work but it sucks. I have some KBs at home but have failed to put together a program built around them. Thinking about finally sucking it up and putting a gym in the garage.

- Will usually be lifting alone, so power rack?
- Occasional aspiration to olytarding, so bumpers
- Have more money than time (douchebrag I guess but the point is I don't need recommendations for hunting on craigslist)

I like the power rack for pullups and having somewhere to tie bands to for mobility stuff. Don't like it for large footprint in the garage compared to lifting platform with squat stands at one end. Could just put a stripper pole in and then not do pullups imo.

Who to buy from? Rogue? I'm not doing Crossfit but have had reasonably good luck buying random **** from them like Do-Wins, rumble roller, etc.

Fine line between "not sad if killed" and active solicitation of a contract imo. I hope you live though. gl.

Cook it first. Or use sufficient water/broth so the uncooked rice can't physically absorb all of it. Ginger good. Lemongrass too.

I used ginger, rosemary, thyme, and sage. Lemongrass woulda been nice.

Yep, if money was no problem, I would just go to the rouge site and order one of everything.

That said, I have no first hand experience with their gear, but it looks nice and is expensive, so it must be good.

But yeah, I would start with a power rack (with the pullup and dip attachments), a flat bench, a decent bar and a few hundred lbs of weight. If you want to olytard, include 4x45 bumpers in your few hundred lbs of weight.
09-16-2013 , 07:05 AM
All that said, probably any power rack and bench and any bar and weights (as long as they are full diameter) would be fine.

If you start squatting and benching 400lbs then you can start worrying about whether or not your rack and bar can take the beating.

One thing with the power rack though is to make sure that there are holes on the outside too (i've seen some that don't), generally the closer together the holes the better and try and get hooks that don't have a huge depth (i.e. easier to unrack bench/squat).

Also, don't get an adjustable bench or one with really wide feet.

Oh, and get a 29mm diameter bar. So much better for pulling than 32mm.

yeah, but I'll be more excited when I actually get the money.

edit - now it says they are beginning to send out emails today. They are supposed to have all the emails sent out by 9/18, and you can file beginning on 9/19. I still feel uneasy about this. Too many lawyers/politicians involved for this to go smoothly imo.

I feel pretty good about it. A lot of our clients have dealt with GCC before. Time consuming for sure.
